When I couldn't skip over the opening cinematic; when my roommate kept using the second controller to make me jump to my death; when my roommate kept using the second controller to shoot me with my meteorites; when I couldn't adjust the camera to keep track of Mario, I shut this thing off and went back to "Sea Monsters."

Also, there were way too many jitneys in this game.

Finally a SUPER FUN GAME

I'm just a mom of 2 young kids 10 and 9. We rented this game and we will be buying this game.

Its really got great graphics such fun to see all the neat galaxys and its really nice and fun to play. Not SUPER hard and NOT super easy. The kids really enjoy playing this as do I as soon as they go to school. :-)

You can't go wrong with this game.

oh and ps......I get really sick playing video games.........and this one does not make me get the headaches and funny feeling in the head while playing.

Fun highly playable on the WII, and great exercise for my wife who is in rehab.

Probably the best Wii game out there right now!

My daughter has played this game non stop since getting it for Christmas. I have even found that as an adult I can actually play (and do pretty well) in the game. For those of us who remember the old Mario days it will give you some reminders of the past, but the graphics are incredible and when you walk (or run) Mario upside down on a planet as he tries to avoid obstacles or chases after coins will have you entertained for hours. After you conquer a galaxy it's off to yet another galaxy where Mario has more adventures to complete! It's just an outstanding game with graphics that are crisp and original. The game will run you $50 new, but it's worth it!

It's Mario, dork!

It's Mario so it's going to be childish. That doesn't change the fact that it is the most enjoyable game out on Wii right now. Too childish? Why did you buy a Wii?

Easily one of the best video games of all time

I've played thousands of video games in my day, and I can honestly say this is a new classic, truly amazing, and easily one of the best (most fun) video games ever made.

Why bother writing a glowing review for a game that is already swamped with glowing reviews? You can no doubt learn all you need to learn about the game's mechanics, story, etc. from other reviews. But here's what I can add.

When the Wii first came out, I tried 2 minutes of a golf demo and found the controls difficult to use. I was used to button-based controllers from competing console systems. For example, with Mario Golf on the GameCube, I could hit a perfect drive easily. There was skill involved, but not a lot of skill -- you setup your shot, then press the buttons with the correct timing, and the ball goes where you want it to. But with the Wii golf demo, skill was much more important, and I was unable to hit a perfect shot. This 2-minute experience was a bad first impression, and lead me to believe that Wii controllers would be difficult to master, imprecise, and frustrating. I assumed Super Mario Galaxy would also be hindered by this controller system, and it was not clear from the literature if I could "fall back" on using a classic controller.

These fears kept me from buying a Wii for a year, but turned out to be completely overblown. Super Mario Galaxy requires one Wii controller (which is a cross between a more traditional console game controller and a remote control such as for your TV) and one "Wii nunchuk" add-on controller -- it does not work with the "Wii classic" add-on controller nor does it work with your old GameCube controllers (which are still necessary to play your old GameCube games on the Wii). However, the new Wii controllers work great and in no way hinder the enjoyment of Super Mario Galaxy. In fact, they greatly enhance it, with controller-based sound, motion-sensing, pointing, etc..

Bottom line: don't avoid buying a Wii or Super Mario Galaxy because you're concerned about the funky new controllers -- they're both awesome.

Plus, Super Mario Galaxy is soooo great that you will feel compelled to come back to Amazon and rave about it.

And again.

I'm a busy man so I don't have time to say all the good things I have to say about this game. Instead, I'll just write down the bad stuff. That's the whole point of "criticism" anyway.

1)
Terrible swimming controls.
How can 3D games still not get this right?! I think that if doing something in a video games is harder than doing it in real life, then there is a problem (see: The Sims). Poor Mario is so incompetent at swimming that he manages to drown next to a life-giving coin. Gawd.

2)
Related to 1).
There are way too many dumb minigames. I want to see more original, creative level design and instead I get manta racing, chasing rabbits, breeding Chocobos (not the last one, but only because Square hates Nintendo and only makes games for Nitendo's consoles that fail miserably). Until they include make a minigame the has Mario murder his half-wit brother and use the skull as a hand puppet, I think that Mario games should just stick to platforming.

3)
The controls are good by the standards in any other game, but for a platformer, where one uncertain move guarantees certain death, they are somewhat lacking. Still, not enough bizarre and extraneous Mario deaths to worry about. Plus, there are so many ways to get lives, getting a Game Over means that you fail at life.

This is the best 3D Mario. Whatever that means.

This game is ASTONISHING

Once I hooked this game in my Wii, I was Hooked!

The amazing bosses

The out of this world gravity

The planets, planitoids, and places reachable shouldn't be discribed with a word like wow or cool. More like "OMG. That was the greatest expirence in my 6 years of Marioing ever.

I highly recomend it to all video gamers of at least late 5 or early 6,
because of the rating E. As in 6 or older.

I also agree that new video gamers should give this a try first thing the Wii hits your doorstep.

Old Video gamers will also love this new twist on an Old Mario.

(This game can be for two people. You will need a Wii, two Wii Remote Controller, the two is for the two players, a Wii Nunchuk Controller for the first player, and Super Mario Galaxy)

Note that you only need one nunchuck for first player and the two player is up to your choice. As in two players is not needed but it helps to have two.

Very entertaining game w/ a throwback feel

I bought this game for my boyfriend for Christmas and he can't get enough. He has to show it to everyone who comes to our house and he has so many great things to say about it. I love that it has some old school sounds and icons from the original games. It's great fun.
