I have always been a Mario loyalist, shying away from the shoot-'em-dead games with blood and guts. It took me FOREVER to find the Wii and Mario Galaxy was the first game I bought. I love this game. I've heard several people complain about the camera angles, which yes, are annoying BUT that adds to the challenge. Can you reach the top of the mountain or jump onto that cliff when you really can't see where you're going to land? It all adds to the challenge of the game. I also found the levels in this game (finally) more challenging than those in Mario 64 which I always felt was too easy. The music is awesome too! Throwbacks to original Mario games will send you into nostalgia, if you're like me and remember the originals. All over I truly love this game & though I have yet to beat it, I am sure I will eventually.
This game is a classic. It rocks

This game is a classic. Reminds me of the joy of playing Super Mario Brothers or Mario 64. It's a beautiful game and fun to play. It's basically tons of unique and visually cool levels; all of them are fairly easy so you have a good sense of accomplishment knocking out so many levels, but it keeps going and getting more interesting as you go. I love this game.
Not impressive in any way.

I really don't understand the appeal of this game. There is nothing impressive or original in this game. The control is terrible. You'll waste a lot of time falling off of the edges of the planets into outer space and starting all the way over. The graphics are fine for the Wii but the Wii is really just a gamecube. You spend most of your time running around and jumping on beetles or shooting stars into marshmellow aliens mouths. I'm pretty much the only person I know that doesn't like this game so you'll probably love it but I just had to say something.
Deserves the accolades!

SMG merits the high rating it has received from other reviewers. The game is proof that software written for the Wii employs all of the advantages of the platform. Games ported to Wii lack the utility of Wii based sw and often suffer from clunkiness compared to the experience on the primary system. The bottom line is that this game is a winner for the Wii!
Not for Casual Players

I purchased this for my 10 year old niece. It's too complicated for her. She never plays it. It's well above her level of play. I gave it 4 stars because her older brother(17)can play it and play it well. The graphics are great and action constant.
Fun, but frustrating for a new gamer

I rented this game because I heard how much fun Mario can be. I can say that I had a GREAT time playing and was about ready to go buy the game, and then it happened...I got to a candy planet that had all of these holes you had to jump across to get to the end. There were like 3 different platforms that became increasingly harder to pass and there were energy bars you had to jump while on a moving platform, dodging holes. EEK! It was so hard, I had my boyfriend try to pass it. He's been a gamer forever so I figured he'd rock it out. No such luck. It kept killing him and the main frustration is that it always takes you back to the beginning of the very first platform. I wish it would start you at the beginning of the platform where you died. If you don't finish each planet, you won't get new ones to play on, and I don't see how anyone can finish this planet. I am very sad, because I really liked the other challenges.
ok but I've seen better!

My son likes it but we are going to have to get a guide as usual. Not sure you can play games today without the 20.00 guide to go with it. Does anyone know how to spell conspiracy? LOL! Of all 6 games he got for Christmas this was the least favorite. I hope it grows on him.
A Truly Terrible Game

This game is terrible! Where do I begin?
The controls are awful! You can't even use a classic Wii controller for this game, what's the deal with that?
The camera angles are all over the place and not ver consistent. The game is too short.
This is the worst Mario game ever! For a fan of Mario, the Nintendo 64 game is alot of better. This game is marred by bad gameplay and controls.
Mario Galaxy may look appealing on the surface, but a closer look reveals a lot of problems.
Ah..Whatever

The first few stages were fun, but after a while it got repetitive and boring. But, if you like that old Mario Platforming style jump to kill crap, then this game is for you. Otherwise, this game gets boring REAL fast!
Another rehash from the 80s

Many associate the Mario games with fun. I associate the name Mario for one mediocre platformer from the 80s/90s and a load of marketing hype and crazed fanboys.
There's no real story, the weak and uninteresting main character has no personality, the platforming has been done better before, all the "innovations" - most of them eon-old rehashes - feel forced, no sense of completion can be gained and the "fun" the game radiates seems false.
I suggest playing Spyro the Dragon for PS1 instead.
