I WISH I read these reviews before purchase. I just wasted my money on this trash. Loaded it went on line, had to upgrade playgate, then upgrade software engine 70MB. Thats ok I got DSL however when installing upgrade it gets a decompression failure. My computer is TOP of the line fully loaded. There is not reason for this. This software is UNFINISHED. Save your money. Buy Combat Mission, which is excellent.

Read this before buying

I recently bought the game... I should tell you to keep your money and use it for a game like HL-Couter Strike which defenetly is better than WW2 online. If you buy WW2 online, you will notice that you need a "super system" of computer. You need A LOT of RAM memory in order to get a decent movement in the game. The graphics are just terrible, is not easy to get connected and the game play is horrible. Don't buy this.

A Great Game....In a few months

This is truly going to be the game you love to hate. First off the reports are ture, there are some major problems with the game. I have a AMD 650/ 352megs Ram 32megs video card...and a Dsl Connection. If you have anything less then this I would forget it. I can play fairly well. A lot of the features used to promote the game arn't even in the game yet. That being said, the game is a hoot. I play for hours, even with all the problems. My advice is to wait a few months to get it, and forget what the specs say on the side of the box..you need a powerful system to play this one.

The plain truth....

I bought the game on its June 6th release date and was very excited to see it in action. However it is now June 9th and the company's servers are having many troubles. I have consistently tried to log on in hopes of seeing this wonderful game (so everyone is telling me) and have not succeded. There are already 3 patches for the game available for download, including a 70 meger, and it still wont get your game working correctly. To put it simply... If you buy this game you must realize that you will be a forced beta tester for this gaming company. They will charge you money so that you can sit in front of your machine and report the many problems that you will face.

Not very professional.

If you question my review or want further details then you MUST check out the forum offered at the game's website. You will be amaized of the number of complaints you read!

later, deadjoe

A Game with a Future

After receiving my game from Amazon, I intalled it according to instructions. From there I was not able to play until almost two weeks later. Customer support was behind because of the release of the game. Cornered Rat released this game before it was finished so there are a lot of features that are not yet incuded in the game. No ships yet, numerous weapons, etc. I was extremely frustrated with the lack of support. Once they fixed my problem which was the day before yesterday, I have played the game, and it is a blast. I think that this game will grow, and as it grows, so will it's popularity. It is fun, and the team work from other players is a pleasant surprise.

Fun, but at a price

I was shocked to find this in the list of games offered by Amazon, until I remembered that the game format disc was available by both retail sales and online. This is a game that I have VERY mixed feelings about. You end up with two reviews here: one of the game and one of the online server, playnet.

The game is actually very good, and I don't just say that because one of the developers is a friend of mine. It really is a fun game. I used to despise first person shooters before WW2OL came out. The original game enigine was simple : Pick infantry (rifle, sub-machine gun, or demolitions expert), armor (there are a multitude of tanks and it was interesting to learn that the Allies had better armor than normally thought at that time), pilot (again, numerous planes), artillery (mostly anti-tank and anit-aircraft), and transport (a truck driver; sounds boring but was fun as heck during big operations). Take that soldier you picked and guide him through a recreation of early WW2 Europe and try not to get killed. Ended up tough at first. You never knew who killed you and never saw it coming. (There are AI guns, but they are mostly just town defenses) It was, well, war. And fun. Squads were formed and it was a matter of pride to have your squad take a town without assistance. Everything was fun and wonderful, until they decided to make it better. Numerous upgrades began coming down the line. It seemed that everyday I was having to download an upgrade. Finally they started to adversely interract with my firewall and the game crashed at a regular rate. The fun was gone, the frustration was in and I was out.

I did come back to WW2OL a few years later (Last year, in fact) and they HAVE improved the interface, but yourcomputer needs to be the top of the line to handle the graphic load of this game. Mine isn't and rather than get it upgraded, I left the game again. However, there is more to this story.

Playnet is the online provider for the game. They have a lot of problems. Oh, no problems taking your money, just providing any back up/suport at all. i would e-mail them with a problem and never get a response. So, I would try again. Still nothing. I wrote letters, sent certified. Nothing, other than a receipt that the letter was received. Calls to CRS were pointless, as they are not part of Playnet. I finally just cancelled my account (which they waited to process until AFTER the billing cycle began) and decided there are other games to play. Granted WW2OL is one of the better games online, but the hassle is not worth it for me.

So, if you have a really good computer, don't mind crappy support, and have the patience of Job to learn this game, go for it. At one time it was the best thing online. Maybe it will be again.

Major Failure

What a waste of money. Yea the game might be this, or it might be that. So what I haven't been able to get it to work in almost a week. At this point I don't really care how good the game would be if everything worked, I have lost all faith in the competence of Corrnered Rat.

Has Not Gotten Any Better

I have been with this game as a supporter since launch day. After the initial pathetic launch, I decided to stay with this game hoping that things could only get better. The stability of the game has improved, but the play and strategy of the game is not there.

If you are a history buff who wants to be immersed in a realistic war environment, skip this one (no matter how much you love WW2 history). If you are a fan of games where you just run around and shoot things, buy a game with better graphics. If you like to sit around with a glimmer of hope that all things improve and find things like grass amusing, buy this game.

A great game with a few flaws

First lets set the scene. I was a infatry man for the allies and i quickly hopped on a 'bus' to take me to the front. there must of been 3 of these 'buses' and it looked like if we could make it to the front we could push them back. The the woods around us oppened up shots wizzed every where and smoke filled the air. All the people in the first transport died in the first 2 seconds and the second transport in the next minute. so it was just my bus getting shot at all around we where screaming for reinforcements and air support but a major battle was happening in the front. the driver tried to drive us away but he was killed and we quickly ran out in groupse for the forest. me and this other guy ran in the woods only gotting wounded. we where the only survivers of the ambush and quickly learned that those troops have been there for almost 2 days.

It was terrible but it is getting better

Hmm well ill keep it short.. first the bad things.. the game is having a rocky start, a really rocky start.. the system specs are high, espically the ram, if your going to buy this game a slower processor might be ok but ram is a must id say 256 or better.. Lag is bad, and i hear people say well lag is bad on all online games, this is true but the lag is very bad to the point where you know something needs to be done about it...

The good, As i snuck threw the woods i could see the enenmy city off in the distance.. it was a long walk and the night was starting to fall. All of the sudden a a13 light battletank pulls up and tells me to jump on.. i actually jumped on the side of his tank and road it to the city.

Just as i jumped off the tank exploded as a german panzer fired and destroyed the a13. i ran and hid in the brush.. i switched to my gernades and as the panzer fired at another on coming allied tank i ran up and threw the gernade and hit the tank.. it disabled the panzer and as he turned to shoot me the allied tank laid waste to the panzer...

just a typical 5 mins at the front lines of the Blitzkrieg

4 stars 4 stars for the game 1 star missing for the high ram usage the lag problems here and there in big battles and the terrible launch of the game
