World War 2 play and pawnage

WWII Online is NOT for the faint hearted. This game has a LARGE learning curve. (Did I say Large Learning curve I mean a large, LaRgE LARGE learing curve).
The first time you enter the game world dont get disapointed.
If you dont know what to do tune channell 99 for help. Duty Officers are online to help.
You also need to gain rank to get bigger and better toy's so again dont get discuraged and dissapointed ask for help.
New Intro to the game are Paratrooper's, Air inserting behind emeny lines, Cutting off resupply during a attack etc
CRS has done alot in the past year to increase the number of new toys to play with. My first year I was disapointed with the sameold stuff day in and day out.
In the past 3 months they have inserted 3 new tanks (Sherman for the French as a lend lease item. It rocks. wOOOOOt)
Yes the game does have some flaws such as a broken HC (High Command) structure. Some people dont work well together (Like real life)
But you can find people (from all over the world which is cool) that will work together.
The System Requirements are for a HIGH END grahics card and a 2gig + uP, and 1 gig DDR min...... yes min to run the OK.
CRS has done alot since the game first came out. This is rocket science in a online video game. yes it is not perfect, the game can be choppy/Laggy
Grapics are not the best either. But the playability is great and the teambuilding with squadies s really fun. So my hat is off to them in their efforts.
Some people are willing to help you some wont cause you may be viewed as a spy (That does happen as in real life)
Interesing twist to the game people with 2 computers will evesdrop on the other side to glean intel on where the attacks may happen
This is really cheating and those players are banned (the AXIS side seems to have the most cheaters and game exploiters).
So the bottom line is that if you want to have fun for hours at a time try it out

Run don't walk to get this game

I have owned this game since its release so I feel like like have been in on the ground floor of this game. I have had a love hate relationship with this game. It was very hard too get this game up and running and I was at times very frustrating. Just playing it offline took some tweaking to get it to go. Getting registered to play was a chore in itself, but I assume now that has gotten easier. Finally after three days I was able too play the game online. Frame rate is a huge problem with this game. I have one computer that barely meets minimum requirements, 400Mhz 128 MB RAM & VooDoo 2 video card, and the game is unplayable online. Part of that problem though is due too my tin can and string for a phone line. I'm getting 1 too 4 frames per second with it online, even after doing their recommended tweaks. I also have a 1 Ghz, 384 MB RAM, 64 MB Ge Force Video card and it runs the game pretty decent. Frames very from 7 to as high as 30 plus. This game does require a hefty powerful machine. As for the game its pretty neat and potential too be even better. Right now everyone is just running around shooting up each other, but as the game progresses I think more strategy will be required. My theory about purchasing the game is this. Playnet has currently suspended the clock on the free thirty days you get with purchase of the game. So why not buy it now, get 30 plus free days of game play and a chance too use all the equipment and practice with it. From my understanding when they get the game more finalized a new guy may not have access too all the weapons. Keep in mind this game is a work in progress and hopefully will improve.

Full of Bugs -- Forget it

Nothing but bugs. It did not work at all in one of my computers, crashes constantly on another. Tech support? Forget it... There is no way to reach them by telephone -- only email. I sent them a support request and have not gotten a response 24hrs later. It takes a very long time to even load. The game is laggy and slow. I recomend waiting until (and if) the bugs get fixed.

I have been testing this game from the early stages of developement and i can safely say this is the best MMPG on the market. If you are into World War 2, then this is the Everquest of all World War 2 games. World War 2 Online is probally going to start the next generation in Massive Multiplayer Games. Buy this and you will not regret it at all!

Good Luck just playing

This game might just be the worst ever. It is impossible to play unless you have a cable modem AND at LEAST 256mb of memory otherwise the lag will never make the game playable. First off with the gameplay all of the "battles" are just skirmishes with just about 20 people. ALso, strategy first went out of their way to make the game impossible to get into. THe start up screen is pathetic. Also once you are in the game (if you ever do get in) it takes half a hour to a hour to see 10 minutes of combat. And that is if you get a ride, if you dont just dont even try, by the time you get to a "battle Field" the battle would be over and you would have to do the same thing again with the same results. Also flying planes might be the hardest thing ever to do in a video game. It takes a computer junkie to actually take off. ALso the box says there is sea battle there is not even sea avaliable this game is flat out pathetic you would be much better flushing your money down the toliet other than buying this game. TRUST ME DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

A must have for online war gamers

This game promised to have it all and it just about does. There are bugs in it as almost every PC game these days however the company is working on patches everyday. This game has it all, squadrons of aircraft, men, ships, and tanks..all fought in first person on an enormous virtual battlefield that is half scale of Europe. The only reason I give it 4 starts is simply because there are still many bugs to stomp, but I highly recomend this.

A True Disappointment

I, like many others, waited a very long time for this game, and the resultant product released a few weeks ago is horrendous. The game released is not even close to an actual final product. During the first week most people could not play, and even now, three weeks after its release, many people still cannot get on to play, and for those who can, experiencing a Crash To Desktop is not uncommon.

Most features listed on the box are not included with the game (in fact, what they have done is considered false advertising, and the company can be held legally responsible - but who in their right mind is going to sue for a ($) game when you can just return it to the store). There is no naval aspect to the game. There is no ranking system to this game. The 3D sounds are horrible. The persistent world that can accommodate 70k+ people will never happen (they have already admitted to this publicly). Realistically, the game is nothing but a shell - extreme early stages of development.

There are too many obvious bugs in this game, such as tanks that float high in the air, vehicle models that flash white which allows the enemy to be easily made out in the distance or at night, sloppy controls, exploits, etc.

Because of all the bugs, this product can only be viewed as a beta, and if that. Immediately after you buy this game you will have to install a ~70MB patch, then an assortment of other patches. What a hassle!

And now that the company is busy fixing all these beta bugs, cheaters have already begun their work, with invisibility cheats and speed hacks.

Even with all of the above, however, the game is fun at times, and it does have major potential to be big down the road if this company can ever get their act together. But I am not rating this game on its potential or what it might be years down the road after hundreds of necessary patches, I am rating this game in its current state - an atrocity.

Awful

The most important thing to beware are the 'minimum' requirements. You really need something in the region of 1GB RAM, 1Ghz Processor, Cable/DSL, 32MB Video Card. Even then I've heard of people who have trouble with the game speed. My set up met the recommended specification and my PC just can't handle it. There appears to be a problem with 'memory leaks', which means the software just keeps grabbing more and more RAM as its played. Quite frankly this game should still be in beta testing. Don't waste your money.

You got to be kidding!

Okay... here we go... as a VERY long time player of online gaming, I must admit the action and excitement of WWII Online got me into my local store once the product hit the shelf. I grabbed the product and was out the door to install my new found "life-waster".

Installation was easy enough. I then looked thru the manual and started in.

As I was reading i figured i might as well run the offline mode of the game so that I could learn the keys in the actual game while reading the manual. This is were my first frustration set in, I have an AMD 900 and 256MB ram, 64MB Geoforce2 MX video card and it STILL takes frickin forever for the offline version to load, i mean... go get a cup of coffee, this is going to be a long one.

The keys in the game are very difficult and are confusing. One thing the box does NOT tell you is that a joystick is pretty much mandatory with this one. I made the mistake of trying to fly my first plane. I sat on the runway looking for a throttle button on the keyboard, guess what?, no key for it.

I was pretty frustrated with my "offline" mode, so i decided to try the online mode. Yeah Right! I got this nice little message stating that the servers were not available, so i check again an hour later, nope, another hour later, nope.

So far, this game CD should be used as a cup coaster.

So, i guess the best word for this game is, Don't Beleive The Hype!" - Pass this mess along to the next person.

($40.00 down the drain)

DON'T BUY YET

This game has great potential, but has enormous problems:

The 'minimum requirements' for use are frankly wrong - you will not be able to play this game without AT LEAST the recommended 'specs'. There are frequent crashes for a lot of users, even with high-end hardware. Most features mentioned in advertising and even on the game box itself are missing. The game is basically unfinished. Patches have been promised by the developers to add SOME of the features like rank (and the weapons listed in the manual), but they are slow to materialize.

This game will be good if it survives 6 months, but don't buy it yet unless you really understand what you'll be in for.
