spider-man 2 is the coolest game I ever seen you can fight street crime or do the story mode you have to save window washer from falling. and if you defeat the street crime you get hero points to by more combo moves. or you have to fight Mysterio, Livard, shocker, and dr.octipus. the web slinging is way better your web has to hit an object to swing and you can hit your web on a helicoter to get to the statue of liberty. and if you hold x and let go you will jump farther. and you hafe to go to a comic book shop to get a new combat move.

A great web swinging simulator but little more

I'm both pleased and dissapointed with this game. Let me at the outset share my gaming biases before you bother to read on. I really loved the previous spiderman game and am not a fan of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA)series.

This game indeed borrows heavily on GTA and is not at all like the previous spiderman game. What I LOVE about this game is the incredible degree of control of spiderman as you move him through his environment. Being able to access the ground of the city ala GTA is a definite plus helping to further bring you into the comic book world of spiderman. I also find the graphics of the city at night to look amazing although the overall in-game graphics are grainy and poor similar to GTA. And the recreation of NYC overall is quite an accomplishment.

What I dislike about the game includes the combat which I felt was a strength of the previous game. Instead of the fluid movement of its predecessor this one has choppy, awkward moves complete with a monotonous single slapping sound that is the same for each hit. The combat looks and feels like it was developed by the producers of the campy 1960s Batman TV series and plays like 'Batman Dark Tomorrow'.

Yet worse than the combat are the repetitive, uninspired missions and challenges. This first time you a) rescue a guy about to fall from a ledge, b) retrieve a childs balloon, c) foil an armored car robbery, d) get lured into a gang ambush by a pedestrian calling for help it's all good. However, these scenarios occur endlessly and quickly get old and unenjoyable. Then there are the challenges which basically are like taking the training from the previous game and forcing you to complete them during regular gameplay... but these are worse. Finally, the voice acting is awful and within half an hour I was already sick of hearing the same lame lines over and over.

Bottom-line is its all about the web swinging. Not sure I'd shell out the cash to buy this one if I had the choice again but would definitely at least rent it.

Spidey is back,and he brought a very fun game to play.Here is a list of pros and cons:

Pros:

-You can go anywhere in New York
-You now have to web on to something to swing
-Mysterio,Doc Ock,Shocker,and Rhino are the villians
-You can purchase upgrades at Spidey Stores located through the city
-New combos
-Better Graphics

Cons:

-Game sometimes freezes
-A few flaws and glitches

Overall this is a fun game.After you beat it you can do anything you want so the fun goes on and on.And to share a secret,After you get 100% of the game complete,go to roosevelt island,go behind the warehouse and there should be a change icon.Click it and you can play as doc ock.Buy this game.

I got this the day it came out and its amazing.You can save people from falling off buildings or stop a chase and even stop a random mugging. You will not be dissapointed. There is only one flaw and its the graphics on cars but youll be swinging around too much to notice.

This game is so much fun! You can go ant where you wanna. And there are so many special moves you can do. So many you sometimes loose track. And you can finally use Spider Sense.
Now u can dodge bullets and attacks and finish off the dodge with a nice whirlwind kick! And when ur not on a mission u can go around doing as u please and stop little crimes if u want. And there are other characters in this game like Blackcat, Shocker, and of course Doc. Oc. Defenintly at least rent it.

I got this game a few months ago and I bought it at my local ebgames and it cost like $17.99,my dad payed for this game.When I started playing it,it was so amazing and it is better than the 1st Spider-Man game I have.This game is the most amazing game I ever played and don't listen to other people who gave it bad reviews because they just couldn't beat it for an hour.Get this game it is the most amazing game.If you want this game so bad,go ahead get it it is worth it.You should check with your local ebgames,they have it!!!!!!!!!!!I give this game 5 stars for being the most amazing game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is the best game ever for ps2. and people start dissin it cause the civilians lips dont move. ya know wut, WHO CARES the graphics arent the best but it is oh so fun. i could just swing and explore round town stoppin random crimes all day, plus, people say the game is huge cause you can go round big apple and if u c it u can go 2 it i mean thats the truth but i found u can also go to roosevelt island and the statue of liberty etc. 1 of the reviews says that they fell into the atlantic and had to shut off the ps2 for awile. WHAT THE HECK IS HE TALKIN BOUT it only takes like 3 seconds till he climbs out makes a remark and swings off. i have sm1 and sm2 is so much better and in sm1 it feels like ur tellin spidey wut to do but in sm2 u have full control, i mean u buy powerups and ur web actually attaches to somethin and pivots off it AND u can shoot up to webs at a time and launch urself off by pressin r2 then let go then hold it. right now im fighting misterio, so retarded, yet so cool. so i say THIS IS THE BEST PS2 GAME EVER

I think this game is going to be the best ever.Get ready to face
off Dr.Octopus,Lizard,and Mysterio.In this game you get to face off
those guys and other crinamals walking the streets.You get to wrap up more than one thug or bad guy in a single shot of web!
In the original game you could only wrap one bad guy in a shot of web.You can swing up on top of the Statue of Liberty!Well that's what I heard.I defintly reccomend this game.I can't wait untill it comes out!

(...) If you are over twelve and are interested in a REAL review then listen closely...

The strengths of the game are:
1. You can go down to the street, into restaurants and stores
2. You actually get to fight crime instead of taking on bosses all day long. You can even deliver pizza if you wanted to.
3. Toby McGuire's actually got a sense of humor in this one... and I liked the narration by Bruce Campbell.
4. The ability to swing around the city using a myriad of different methods is innovative.
5. Perhaps the biggest thing missing from superhero games (with the exception of the Hulk) is in here. Believe it or not, you actually get to change into Peter Parker. Name one superhero game where you can play their alias!

The weaknesses of the game are:
1. The graphics are beyond horrible (remember the SNES?)
2. The "crimes" that you solve are extremely repetious
3. Most of the game is timed trials -- you must swing across the city in under sixty seconds...etc.
4. The hero points are the absolute worst. You must get a certain number of these points in order to progress to the next phase of the game. You get these points by stopping crime and saving lives. Unfortunately, the game only has six scenarios, meaning that you're going to get extremely bored of them, extremely quickly.
5. Did I mention the graphics?

In a nutshell, this game is nothing like the first. This game is extremely fun to play at first, but after two hours, you're praying that the next person you save isn't on a boat, hanging from a building, shooting at the police or needs to be rushed to the hospital. I'm an RPG-er mostly, but I LOVED the first Spiderman. This game I didn't like... too many timed trials, jumping from level to level like Super Mario Bros, uninteresting music and some scenes were entirely pointless... doing nothing to advance the game. They dropped the ball on this game. Like I always say in my reviews: rent first, then buy if you like it.

I saw a sign about this game and, I went on the web to find out more and fron what I saw this game looks great. This time you have much more freedom you don't need to follow the levels one by one, you get to go around and choose what you want to do in the order of the levels or not even do a level at all. The fighing system is better than the first game, your web plays a bigger role in terms of combo's and now they have much more interesting moves in the combo's like throwing a thug up into the air with your web and then jumping up into the air punching and kicking the thug then smashing him back down to the ground, that is only one of the combos that I saw in the games offical web site, for completeing tasks in the game you get "hero points" and then you go to these shops and then you buy skills and skills for combos with the hero points the graphics look better than the last game ut looks like you are controlling the movie I have not seen any cons about the game and as soon as it comes out on June 28 I am getting it, it is worth it trust me.
