Far from greatness.

You know, I had such high hopes for this game. I loved Metroid Prime 1 and 2, and I was very excited when I picked up this one. Now I know many of you will obviously disagree with me but I thought the game in general...... choked. Where to start, how about graphics. Some magazines are saying they are just as good as the 360. Okay people, those of you that still have Metroid Prime 2, pull it out and put it in now. What's wrong? The graphics are better. Now you are all thinking I'm on crack but take it however you want it. I thought the graphics were not very good at all. There was a couple time, like in the first "cinema" some of the graphics looked almost Nintendo 64. I mean look at the general's face and body, it was nintendo 64 bad. Now gameplay, I didn't really care for the whole point and shoot set up they had. Also, lock on sucks. What did they call it, free floating lock on or something? You can lock onto a enemy and still be able to strafe around that enemy while shooting others. When you lock on, you don't shoot the enemy you still have to AIM at him. Excuse me but... if I'm going to lock onto a enemy I mean to KILL it, not have the ability to wander around it while shooting at others. Kind of defeats the point of having a lock on. Maybe I'm just a tard but what's the point of it? Overall I was expecting something great, something that would shine to bring the Prime series to a close. Well, it was far from greatness. It choked.

THIS IS THE GAME TO HAVE... WOW!!!

I have been a big fan of the metroid prime series and i was amazed with the first. then the second came out and it blew me away too. I mean i was having super high hopes for this game from the begining but WOW, this game is AMAZING! The makers take full advantage of the wii mote and although there is lock-on -free aiming there is also the traditianal locking on methed like the first two metroid primes. I can play this game for hours on end. I also really like the feel of the controller and it makes it much more realistic to pull a trigger than to hit a round, flat button. One last thing that is great is that you dont have multiple beams to always switch two you just upgrade the regular one.

Even if you havent followed the first two metroid primes this is still one of the best games to play and if you have followed the series this will blow your mind!

This game gets 11 out of 10 in my books

one of the best games i've ever played

i was unsure of whether or not to spend $50 for this game. i had played through metroid prime and was impressed by it, but i found it to be nowhere near as memorable and fun as super metroid (forgive me if i reference it a lot). needless to say i'm glad i did get this game; everything feels more inspired than in the last two primes. the environments seem to have been created with more care, particularly the skytown segment of the game. every little detail of the city from the architecture to the antiquated robots makes it beautiful to play through.

the music also seems to have improved a little. one of the things that bugged me about the first metroid prime was that the music was just generic techno that stayed in the background; it wasn't a part of the game like in super metroid, where every single song perfectly matched your environment and drew you into the game. this time around there's still plenty of bland techno but most of the music is better thought out and captures the feel of your surroundings very well.

the controls may take a little getting used to, but they really do work well and make the game fun to play. my only complaint is that you can never seem to lock onto your enemies or grapple points on your first try; the lock on system seems really picky about when it wants to work. but, since it's so easy to aim with the wii remote you don't really need to lock on often anyway.

the game has more cinema scenes and dialog than any other metroid, but it doesn't spoil the lonely feel of the game since samus doesn't every speak a single word. it allows you to keep that sense of silent observation even while your character is 'talking' with other people. some of the scenes in the game have lame acting or dialog and sometimes it feels like you're watching a star wars movie instead of playing metroid, but it's a video game, not citizen kane. overall the scenes are welcome because they give you a chance to rest while watching a spaceship blow something up.

without going on too much longer the thing that really struck me about this game was that the sense of lonely exploration through eerily beautiful environments that made super metroid so great was faithfully reproduced. there were many moments in the game that i felt awestruck playing through, and i can say without hesitating that retro studios finally made a game that approaches the quality of super metroid. the game does have flaws here and there, and i still prefer the super metroid's 16-bit charm to corruption's realism and wii controls, but i can't give a game so well made any less than five stars. how anyone could have given the game 2 stars is beyond me, talk about hard to please. so if you're on the fence about buying this game and have ever enjoyed a metroid game in the past, i guarantee you won't regret picking this up.

Best Wii game thus far

This is a must own for hardcore Nintendo fans. If you enjoyed the first two Metroid Prime games, you will love this one. It's a bit shorter than the previous Metroid Prime games but a lot more fun and intuitive thanks to the new controls. The use of voice acting provides a much greater story telling experience than the "story-by-scanning" method used in Prime 1 and 2. Easily the best game for Wii until Zack & Wiki, Super Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros Brawl come out.

Highly recommended

Fans of metroid or just first person shooters in general wont be let down by this title. The Wii controls are smooth and easy to pick up, and the gameplay is very fun. The visuals are impressive, probably the best looking Wii game to date. The only reason I gave it a 4/5 star rating was because I found some of the spots that you had to be in the ball form a bit annoying, but its not all that often and dosen't take much away from the gameplay. If you own a Wii, do yourself a favor and pick this up.

Excellent addition to the matroid line

Another must have Metroid game. Following the same game play style of Prime one and two, corruption takes a prodigious leap forward on the Wii. The controls are not perfect, but they could not get much better. Picking it up and starting to play could not get much easier for anyone who has ever used a modern controller before, visually it does well to show that Wii games CAN look beautiful, not photo-realistic but very immersing on both audio and visual levels. Aiming and shooting with the wiimote is as easy and intuitive as it can be made. Most fun I've had on the Wii so far (just ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess). The controls make reflex actions to events enfolding on screen second nature. Gotta try it to truly feel it, have fun.

Great Ending to a Great Series

Been a fan of the Prime series since it came out, was a little disappointed with Echoes, but was excited to hear the hands-on reviews MP3 received. Bought MP3 the first day and was impressed almost instantly.
The controls of course had a learning curve, but once I got through the first intro stage I already felt like a pro. The control's hype is completely true, the best yet for the FPS genre on consoles.
Some complain that the graphics are more of the same as the previous Primes but it's merely the artistic style of the series that remains. The lighting, visuals, everything is much better.
The storyline still carries on with the series, not all of it makes sense to me. But it really didn't need to, you can get the jest of it and be perfectly content with the mission to save the universe.
Only have a few complaints about the game. First, sometimes it does get difficult to figure out exactly where to go, but nothing like the search quests on the other Primes. The load times at some of the doors does get a little excessive. And once I started the play-through on hyper mode difficulty, my hands would tighten up from blasting non-stop in the much harder battles. But the extra challenge was alot of fun, and made it worth the 2nd play though.
On Normal it took me 17 hours to beat, at around 90%, then hyper took only 13 hours at 100% (from experience, not taking a shot at the difficulty, it is much harder). Got a solid, thrilling 30 hours from the best game on the wii yet. Metroid Prime 3 is a must buy, period. If not then rent at least, then you'll buy, but you should save the $5.

A must have for the Wii

Nintendo, specifically the Wii, has recieved criticism for lacking games that are targeted to the "hardcore" gamer. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption should silence these critics for quite some time. The game is challenging, fun, and beautiful. It is the best looking game for the Wii and is right up there in awesomeness with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Although the game isn't as long as Twilight Princess, it is slightly more challenging. There are many well-designed maps and puzzles. The boss battles are creative and fun. The controls are intuitive and most will have no problem getting used to them. The graphics are amazing, sometimes I would just stop and look around at the beautiful environments. For any Wii-owner that wants a challenging, exciting experience, buy this game. Retro Studios deserves a big hand for the final installment in the Metroid Prime series.

Just plain awesome!

Metroid Prime 3 has the best graphics I've ever seen on the Wii from any game. Period. I haven't seen a slowdown anywhere in the game -- the entire game runs at 60+ FPS, regardless of the number of baddies on the screen or ships flying in the background.

Speaking of background... there are parts in this game where you will stop playing and just look at the scenery. Yes, it's that beautiful.

Gameplay is medium-difficult. Once you get the hang of the controls (which may take a bit), moving around feels natural and is very fast. I have used an on-line walk-through several times when I was stuck. Sometimes the solutions to the puzzles are obvious; sometimes quite obscure. Fortunately there are several free walk-throughs online.

In short, if you have a Wii, BUY THIS GAME. You will not be disappointed. Oh, and be sure and use the option to switch the FIRE and JUMP buttons. It works better that way. Trust me.

Totally Awesome

This game rocks! I've you've been looking for a game to dust off the Wii, this is the one. The game proves to be quite challenging if you do not enable click to target.
