An elite title for the Wii.

I am a casual gamer who usually spends most of his time tied up in sports games and rhythm games, like DDR and Rock Band. I almost never extend my gaming exploits into titles with story arches or complicated controls. That being said, the first two Metroid Primes for Gamecube were two games that I played regularly, with simple controls, good AI, and a difficulty that was easy enough to keep playing but also tough enough to make the game rewarding.

The third Metroid Prime, this time for the Wii, does not disappoint. It's intuitive controls using the Wii-mote and nunchuck make gameplay enjoyable, not frustrating. It has a great story which is set up very nicely, allowing you to save in places where you can pick it back up a few days later and not forget where you were in the game, one of the criticisms I have of many of the games that have come out recently. Metroid is a game you'll want to continue to play, but one that you don't have to play every day to remember where you were and what you were doing. It is in the upper echelon of Wii titles and I give it my highest recommendation.

The best the wii has to offer.

This game is amazing! I am a huge metroid fan and this game is the best of the three prime games (not including prime hunters). It beats the last games in controlls, gameplay, graphics, and fun. Now to the people who have never played metroid before this is not a shoot all the bad guys game or series. It is centered around solving puzzles and exploration but it does have alot more action and storyline than the other three.I will break it down for you.

Graphics: A+ some of the best on the system. better than all the gamecube graphics and PS2 graphics even some xbox and 360 games(not all but some).

Fun:A+ For a metroid fan or a non metroid fan this game is loads of fun.

Controlls:A+ It was a little awkward at first but once you get used to them its a breeze to controll samus.

Speedrunning:F- The metroid series made speedrunning (trying to win a game in a certain amount of time) popular. The metroid prime series is a bust when it comes to speedrunning. I mean you can do it but you don't get a better ending so why try.

Storyline:A+ Alot more story than the last two installments by far. And all in great looking cutscenes.

Action:A+.Some people might want more but i think it is just enough.

Puzzles:A+. I have nearly every metroid game and have played them many times over and the puzzles in this game stump me. But if you stand back and think about them for a minute anyone can figure them out.

Bosses:A+. Nothing to rival Flaghhra in MP1 but still very good.

Boss and enemy AI:A. The AI ranges from very good to running on a predictable but hard to beat cycle

The one problem i have is the fact the game series is getting to popular. Usually when a series gets popular they stop making good sequels and start making remakes with a different name. But if nintendo can keep metroid games coming like this, fresh and new, it might one day rival mario in sales.
All in all a wonderful game.

Tedium is no excuse for longer game play....

I have played video games for over 25 years and have loved every minute. I have played the past two Metroid games and they were GREAT. This one....while the Wii bells and whistles make gameplay really cool...the makers just made boss battles and mini-battles completely tedius rather than innovative. You must hit a specific place at a specific time with a specific weapon consistantly correct for up to 20 minutes at a time or else the boss suddenly regains all past power and health and you must start again from the beginning. This is the only way they get anything over 20 hours of gameplay out of the thing. This is a growing trend amoung those creaters that just don't care about much other than getting our money. We don't really want to add any more rooms to the game so let's just make the normal 10 minute boss battle last 2 hours.....not out of anything new, just out of tedius hit this spot, hit the spot next to it, hit a different spot, oops....half a second late, start again....great game system, great franchise, bad game, bad developers.....

Metroid Prime 3 is overrated. And this is coming from a Metroid Prime fan.

I liked both Metroid Prime 1 and 2. Suprisingly, there was alot of bad rep I heard about MP2, and I can't understand why. Yet... it seems like the total opposite for Metroid Prime 3 Corruption. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen such hype for a game before. Some go as extreme as saying it's the best FPS ever made. I beg to differ. A few key parts of what made Metroid Prime good are now gone thanks to it's new generic style. Playing Metroid Prime 3 will feel like Metroid Prime 101. It's so easy that in fact there are some enemies that will only do 1 damage to you, out of hundreds of HP you have. The gameplay may seem extreme, but don't let looks fool you, it's not. Even if a variety of space pirates show up, you won't even have to try. And even when it does get harder, Hyper Mode eliminates any kind of struggle to defeat a boss or a horde of enemies.

The isolation factor is eliminated also, which gave Metroid it's eerie and yet neat alienated feel to it. Metroid has always been about being placed on hostile planet all by ones self. Though they didn't do a bad job with the voice acting and what not, as well as some of the cinematic quality, it did initially take away something held dear to the Metroid series.

There's also a lack of direction it seems. They don't even give you a briefing of the story in the manual.

There are points in the game like Skytown that can get so boring, I litteraly was yawning several times, not to mention on a boss battle in SkyTown. Indeed, you walk around for 2 hours straight shooting puffs here and there, and fighting steambots that do 1 damage to you. Nothing compelling about that.

The music, again, no isolation factor, but it's not bad I suppose. Graphically, the game does well, but there are some key features that are ignored in certain areas. The power ups are decent. The whole Hyper Mode concept is pretty nice, as everyone had a fun time being in Hyper Mode in MP1 against the final boss, and now it's utilized in this game. The controls don't exactly disappoint, but I am a particular fan of the original formula. They're easy to pick up on at least. But these features don't exactly turn the tide, because once again, key features that made this game really good are missing.

Metroid Prime has been known to be a perfect mix of calmness and action. Yet this game warps that mix and thus throwing off the balance it had before. There are points where you can go for hours without action, and even when you find it, it's nothing worth waiting for. There are points of long segments of space pirates, but they offer no challenging value whatsoever. There may be an onslaught of mini bosses and bosses, but they all lack any ferocity. It's just one big innovation fest. It all feels very directive and linear, it's as if they're holding your hand through out the entire game.

This is especially disappointing because it ends the series. Lets just hope Metroid Dread won't be ruined.

The Prime Trilogy goes out with a bang!

**Since this game is the Finale of A trilogy you may want to look into the 1st two games as well**

Don't listen to anyone claiming that this is not a fun and/or good game. This game marks the arrival of one of the first TRUE Wii titles, in which it is neither a remake nor a port. It takes full advantage of the system as you will see and even feel.

The controls are incredibly responsive and offers pixel perfect precision aiming. This is what a First Person game on Wii should feel like. I find it far more natural to use than something like dual analog (i.e. a PS2/Xbox controller) since all you have to do is point and shoot. There are also several other Motion based movements that you must do in order to progress and they too feel very fluid and natural.

The Graphics and Sound are also top notch. Metroid Prime 3 is right now, without a doubt the best looking title you are going to find on Wii. Although that is not saying too much at the moment, the game is simply a visual marvel. The scenery and backdrops of the Alien worlds you will explore in this game are truly inspiring and a sight to behold. To complement the visuals is an excellent score the really sets the mood and is very epic-like at times.

If you're not sure what a Metroid game is about then I can tell you it's a mixture of shooting things (often times other than enemies), using certain weapons/abilities to progress and coming back to previous inaccessible areas with the proper item/weapon needed to pass. Although there is a lot of combat involved this is no run and gun like Halo as there is a heavy focus on exploration and solving "puzzles". At times You will have to study the area and figure a way to use you abilities to progress.

If you want a good, deep involving game with an enjoyable story to hold you off until The next big Wii game then this is without a doubt the Wii game to get. In fact, if you own a Wii period you should definitely give the game a rental at the least. Metroid Prime 3 is an extremely solid purchase.

Perfect controls in a slightly imperfect Metroid

Well, it seems there are no lack of rave reviews for this game as it should be: this game earns every last nice word. The graphics and art design especially are wonderful(i don't know what the crack smoker saying they looked like N64 was thinking), the sound design and music are great(i found myself humming along with the tunes after only 20 minutes), and the level design, as always, is impeccable. The new controls are the real shining light here though. Any review you read saying you will always see other FPS controls as second rate after this are true and i am not an old hand at FPS by any means(i can't stand the overrated Halo series). However as a longtime Metroid player i do have some gripes with a near flawless game experience. For starters the default difficulty is Wind Waker easy(start on Veteran unless you've never played video games before). The voice acting is very well done but the heavy rotation of the cliche 'Space Marines' had me gritting my teeth at times like the game designers were trying to match this up to Halo. I almost felt like i was playing Fusion at times because Aurora keeps butting in to tell me where to go...uhh, excuse me, i though i turned the hints off. I've always loved that the Metroid series Doesn't hold your hand like 95% of modern games do. There is not as much isolation as before but it is still definitely more adventure than action. i knew Retro wouldn't completely blow it. The boss battles are things of strategic beauty(especially on the harder difficulties) and the creatures have such a beautiful, realistic synergy with their repective planets. Using the ship is really fun(i wish there were more things to blow up though!) and fits well in the game. This is easily a great, if not the sole, reason to buy a Wii. Only true Metroid fans will have any qualms with this game. If Nintendo keeps getting games of this caliber(and they will) and the Wii will be here for a long while.

Re-defining First Person games

Metroid Prime 3 is the latest installment of one of the most appreciate Nintendo franchises ever. The "Metroid" experience that started back in 1986 (in the original Nintendo Entertainment System) once again changes the way we play videogames.

As a quick reference, Metroid main character is Samus Aran, the FIRST EVER female lead character in a videogame. She was created ten years earlier than Tomb Rider's Lara Croft for example. Samus Aran, orphan twice (her parents were murdered and the species who raised her became extinct) is Bounty Hunter for the Space Federation.

Metroid series are very popular for its vast exploration and its isolation feeling. Precisaly this both factors are what lead the developer to call Metroid Prime a "First Person Adventure" instead of a "First Person Shooter".

Metroid Prime 3 for Wii brings a unique experience in terms of gameplay. It features the most intuitive gameplay ever on any first person game on any console. I've played FPS for a long time (since Wolfestein 3D for PC to Call of Duty and Gears of War in XBOX 360). And so far, Metroif Prime has the lead in playability.

It's like moving Samus Aran with your brain. This game will be worth buying for this feature alone.

However it also contains a great story, very cool action sequences, and some remarkable character development that will be very appreciate specially for those fans of the original Gamecube installments (Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes).

Metroid Prime could be arguably the best Wii game released to this date. And along with Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess they are both the best of the best for this console.

As good as the First!!
It's pretty good but not exacly what I expected.
I thought it would be more like the others: a constant exploration for tecnology to complete your mission but instead it's more of a closed course with a diferent mission every time.
It's nice that you have your ship in play yet I thought you could pilot it more.
It's cool with the interaction switches and lasso beam. Also the scan visor is nice to give you constant hints.
The graphics are sweet! They have exceeded the WII standards.
Power beams, The morph ball, and many other tricked out space things look so shiny and real.
I say this game is great for anyone who wants a Great First-Person Space Shooter.

Must have for Wii Owners

Currently my two favorite FPS games are Metroid Prime 3 and Halo 3. I lean towards Metroid because I enjoy the single player experience more than that of the one Halo offers. The experience is a lot longer and the inclusion of puzzles adds to the enjoyment.

If you are wanting a more immersive/interactive single player experience this is your game. If you are looking for great online multiplayer action go with Halo.

Prime Series Finishes With a Bang

My very first Metroid game was Metroid Prime. I played it after reading about all the great reviews it got. And it didn't disappoint. It remains probably my favorite game of all time. The second game in the Prime series, Echoes, didn't live up to the first in my opinion. It's sitting on a shelf unbeaten. So I was kinda hesitant to get Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. But I gave in and finally got it. The developers main focus was to make the player feel like they actually are the bounty hunter Samus Aran. Using the Wii's motion sensing controller to aim and shoot at the various baddies and bosses across several planets is a huge success, and is deeply gratifying. There's nothing like shooting a Space Pirate in the face just before it slashes you. The sound, the art style, the graphics, and most of all the gameplay are all fantastic. It takes some time to get used to the controls, but when you do the game gets amazingly fun. I started on normal difficulty, but after getting used to the controls I had to switch to veteran difficulty because it became too easy. Hyper mode is a great feature, and really makes you feel invincible. But a lot of enemies have it too, and when you see them glow with power it brings a slow trickle of fear as all you can do is hide and take shots at them from behind cover. Not many games have immersed me as much as Prime 3, and only one other game has actually made me feel frightened and elated at the same time. That other game is the first Prime. So basically, if you haven't been able to get your hands on a Wii yet, buy Prime 1 for 20 bucks in the bargain bin. If you do have a Wii and an extra fifty dollars sitting around, go buy this game. Give it a couple hours to learn the controls, and then enjoy the conclusion to one of the better trilogies in gaming.
