Granted on PS2 it controlls a lot smoother it's still an overrated game. Survival horror revolutionized? Where the hell is the horror in this game? It's nothing but a shooter with a cool aiming system. The story is totally stupid, and it nas nothing to do with Resident Evil.
Please bring back the zombies and the franchise. Find another way to innovate RE not turning it into a totally different game. The last decent RE game was still the Remake on GameCube.
A joke of a copyright infringement

This game is the biggest rip off I've ever witnessed without even hinting as to their source. This game was copied nearly verbatim from a effort-filled Stuart Gordon movie entitled Dagon, based on two stories by the renowned H.P. Lovecraft. The eerie spanish town, dark gothic atmosphere, off "humans", dark priest, all ripped from the screen.
If you don't believe me, rent the film for yourself or at least look at some images. Compare the barn scenes for one, the priest, etc.
"But it's a great game" in defense is utterly stupid. Unless you are a mind-numbed idiot that drools with only a single brain cell left entirely devoted to whatever your playstation or gamecube feeds you, the blatant copy is repulsive enough to step away from the series for good. If nothing tips off the obviousness, how the heck does this sequel assimilate into the existing resident evil line? It doesn't. It's a "oh man that movie was awesome, i'll change two things in it and add a weird monster and say we wrote it, give no credit to the source, and people are so stupid they won't care that it doesn't make sense as long as you make cool music and spooky graphics. After all, our gamers are very naive and witless as they shell out cash...as long as we add Leon and the RE title."
It appears that the same cynics claiming this generation is nothing but a population of zombies with the sole concern of entertaing their half-baked brains with anything remotely entertaining long enough that they won't have to think for themselves is somewhat true to a degree. I know many out there that are hardcore into this game have searched it up and down on the internet and I know Dagon has popped up, if not a resource of that film. But that doesn't concern you, does it? As long as your eyes are hooked on the screen and no questions are asked, all is fine.
A disappointment to say the least, not just by Capcom, but from anyone playing this [...] I hope Lion's Gate films sues their [...] off.

Freaking awesome. I love the game but nothing special. It kept me going and was awesome enough to merit me wanting to finish.
Perfect!

Everything is great about this game, graphics, gameplay, story... I never wanted to stop, and even though I beat the game twice I still want to play it. Beacause they leave so much more for you to do even after you're 'done', you get more guns and it's just fun fun. I'd reccomend to anyone.

Just like you, I've heard all the hype about resident evil 4. "10 out of 10," critics say. "Game of the year." So, naturally, I decided to play it. After some time with it, I paused, looked at my hands and said, "what the h--l? The control scheme was by far the most obscure, abstract, clandestine, and weird control scheme I've ever had the discomfort of playing. SO OPEN YOUR EYES! IT'S NOT THAT GREAT! i mean, it's really good and all, but its control scheme is messed up. However, if you don't think about it, the game's great (but it's still overrated).
P.S. I'm not into survival horror games, so it probably doesn't appeal to me as much as it does to you nerds who decided to read this review all the way through. If you are like that, no question, get this game. But if you're like me, just play it and see how you like it.

okay,re4 for ps2 is one of the most great games, with allright gameplay, cool grafics etc..but,as a great game this product must be something and wwith something that much bigger than visiuals, fun factor..and it's weird, but such "technical positions" are creating atmosphere for resi game, and for big shame-ps2 is toooooooo weak to take things over.yop, firstly i purchased ps2 ver of the game(my only system was ps2).I was so happy!be damned that day,i watched resi 4 on NGC!that was pretty baaaad day-for sonyboi fan..I understand, there's no point about superior visuals,or smoother framerate-if THE GAME is masterpiece,it will be masterpiece on any system..(these words i was telling myself, before watching NGC original).you see, resi 4 is so low detailed on ps2,that you loose 50%+ of atmosphere and real fun.so,my advice-go on to the gamecube, and play resident evil 4 only with that system.if not, you'll be dissapointed with only "good looking port"
Relatively easy...

I'm on my 2nd round, this time playing in 'difficult' mode. Yep, I completed the 1st round in 'normal' mode. I wouldn't say it was difficult. I agree with many that they should stick to normal zombies. And the aiming was hard to get used to at first.
