This is one of the most enjoyable fighting games I have ever played and I highly recommend purchasing it, but I recommend buying the dreamcast version instead. Why? Unlike the PS2 and XBOX versions, the dreamcast version is arcade perfect because this game was originally release on the NAOMI arcade board which is base on the dreamcast's hardware. Additionally, you could get a copy of this game and a dreamcast to run it on for less than what these sellers are asking for. Trust me, you will be glad you took this option. I have never met a person who regrets puschasing a dreamcast.

I wanna take you for a ride?

Let me start of like this the gameplay is awesome, characters from the marvel & capcom universe battling one another great plot I love the 3 on 3 battles you can switch your characters during combat I mostly use Ryu, Gambit & Cable. Well The music is kinda corny, The graphics are not that great it kinda looks like a cut and paste thing if you know what I mean but in the end the game is a classic because you can battle your buddy's and play for hours the prices are not that great I actually got mines at Gamestop. The day I picked it up I purchased Tekken 4, Metal Gear Son's of Liberty & Marvel vs Capcom 2 for $[...] Bucks yup great huh! well good luck out there trying to find this game, some people are nuts $[...] for this game brand new shoot yourself.

Great game!

I was luckly enough to find this at a local game store, and I have no complaints. It was pricey, but even the Dreamcast version is getting up there. I used to have the DC version and when I put this in my PS 2 I thought there would be some huge drop in quality based on the reviews.
Bottom line, I didn't see it. The game looked fine to me. This is one of my all-time favorite games and I enjoyed it for hours immediately after I brought it home. My only criticism is either Iron Man or War machine should have been selectable from the start. For someone who enjoys playing as those characters in the arcade version, it takes away from it at the start having to unlock both of them. If you are going to pick this up do yourself a favor and call around first. I paid thirty dollars less than even the lowest seller here and no shipping costs to boot.

The BEST fighting game in videogame history.

I don't agree with the thing about the music of this game, cause the music is awesome. For those fighting games hardcore gamers know what I'm talking about, this game is absolutely the best fighting game ever made. I had this game for Dreamcast and i sold it, then i had it again for X-Box and sold it again, and now here I am buying the game again for $90.

This is probably the best example of Capcom's peak of pinnacle potential as far as fighting games goes, not that that's a bad thing but you'd hope more of games like this from Capcom but then you'd have to remember how hard Capcom is for change and that anything 'new' they come out with is going to be a very minimal push in that direction in hopes it'll bring something amazing in the process-- small bites, huge flavor take note.

Marvel VS Capcom 2? Your expectations will be heavily exceeded if you manage a copy of this game to be had in your hands. I'd actually never knew there were a limited amount of copies of this game so when I checked out EBay and Amazon prices of this game, they range from 90 to sometimes, (in the most heart sinking experience) up nearly to the thousands of dollars... it's amazing just how priceless this game may seem but it holds true considering just how GOOD this game really is with a huge unprecedented scene of over 50 characters... you can admit some of the characters are worthless, but I see them more as handicaps you can pit yourself with while fighting other people; gag characters; jester anomalies; the "IN YO FACE" factor... seriously, if you can manage a team of just Roll, Servbot and say... Hayato, or Captain Commando, but do most of your damage with Servbot and perhaps defeat two of your enemy's characters with just him... that's really telling you something.

I do have two complaints about this game but they can be easily remedied, well one of them at least... the first complaint is the soundtrack to the game... playing it through, you kinda feel like you're in some jazz club that went horribly wrong-- how? Well first think of playing something like The Rippingtons or something as some crazy anime battle is going on... it's just like that in a sort. The music is HORRIBLE! After almost losing my mind for allowing myself to let it play through once as I finished a game, I couldn't stand it anymore and just went to Options and muted the music all together, do yourself a favor, hit up your stereo/boombox and play your own tunes compatible to your tastes while you play this and you'll be fine. My second concern is of ONE character in the game... and it's something Capcom has seemingly refused to do since the birth of Darkstalkers, yes, I mean the animation for Morrigan... ... I swear, it's been YEARS since they've created her, and it's about time they reconstructed how she feels because she is the ONLY character in that game that feels out of place as far as actually playing the game goes. I mean it, play another game that has her in it, like Capcom VS SNK 2 and then play this game... she plays exactly the same way, and that's a damn shame.

===

In all, this game is like a relic, should be owned, cared for and honored as one of the greatest achievements of fighting game innovation. Is it the best? Well my preference still says Guilty Gear was (Not the X Series... I'm talking about the ORIGINAL Guilty Gear game from 1998) but that's just me... if I don't want my fix of Sol Badguy or Chipp Zanuff destroying the opposition, I pop this game in and use my most favorite team of all time: Hayato, Captain Commando and Megaman and go to town for a few hours.

It's a shame this game is discontinued as a title to be purchased and subject to EBAY and Amazon high price enthusiasts but that leaves this game much to be reveled in as an authentic classic among the few that exist today.

Great Game, Shameful Price

Once again I say, all you sellers are insane. $100 for a used game lol. Chinatown... nuff said. Treat yourself, don't cheat yourself. The game is the pinnacle of 2D fighting, but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Anyone who was putting their quarters up back in the day should own this gem.

Great!

A great game for a fan of any of the capcom or marvel characters.

But the only downsides: Graphics some what pixely, not bad I gueese.
And the ending is same for each character, but why blame capcom? It would pretty dang had to make endings for each and every character.

So those problems dont really matter much.

Froget all your worries about the price and bad reviews, the game is worth it.

Best 2D Fighter Period... but.. where's Gambit?!

Well I used to own this game, but I made the mistake of selling it off to gamestop when God of War came out, and now I'm sad. I miss the 50+ characters and the easy to pick and learn combo and tagging systems... I love the way nearly all of capcoms series are in this game (even resident evil makes an appearance with the character Jill). Needless to say once you've unlocked everything you feel an immense satisfaction... But I'll say now NEVER EVER SELL THIS GAME, especially if you like to play with your friends, and family... this game will keep being fun for years to come....But there are only two concerns I have for this..

1. Why is it so expensive? I'll say it's worth it but $104.00? thats ridiculous...Capcom should've anticipated the massive sales and produced more copies.

2. Why isn't Gambit in it?? He's one of the coolest X-men!! (It's been a while since I've had this game so he very well may be in it but I dont recall ever seeing him)

Even with the two flaws I give this a 5 out of 5 because it is a timeless classic that will continue to bring joy to gamers everywhere for years to come....Think the Final Fantasy 7 of 2D Fighting

Its not as good is i thought....
