I got this game about 2 weeks ago and I soooo love this game.(I liked Virtua Fighter 4, but that only held me for a week, or so, Tekken 4 was a tad short and I am still waiting for Soul Calibur 2) The 56 total character is insane!(I have 46 as of this review)You start out with 24 characters and you can unlock soooo many things. 32 characters, 7 new levels, artwork, and different colored costumes, so you will get hooked for weeks. The controls and combos are really easy to learn, even if you don't look through the intruction booklet. My only complaint is that the characters looks pretty pixallated and the jazzy musc doesn't really belong in fighting games (my favorite characters are Cable, Gambit, and Sentinal)
Capcom has done it agian

Let me just start out by saying that this a great game. The graphics may be off a little, but everything else in this game is great. This game will keep you coming back for a while because you have alot of cool and unique charectars to unlock. This definately is one to play with your friends. What more can you ask for i mean your favorite marvel and capcom charectars going at it. i didnt have any real problems with this game except that the charectars are 2d and they look kinda of lame. But they are put into a 3d background which is kool. So overall this a great fighting game, and it will keep you playing for a while.
Great? Yes. Perfect? No.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a great fighting game that gamers got obsessive with it over the last few years. The home console version is great nonetheless, but after a while it gets extremely repetitive and find it too easy. And stupidly enough Capcom produced few copies of the game, making it extremely hard to find(A NIP cost around $70). This is strongely recommended for the fanboys(girls).
It is not worth paying more than $60 for this.

This is one of the most enjoyable fighting games I have ever played and I highly recommend purchasing it, but I recommend buying the dreamcast version instead. Why? Unlike the PS2 and XBOX versions, the dreamcast version is arcade perfect because this game was originally release on the NAOMI arcade board which is base on the dreamcast's hardware. Additionally, you could get a copy of this game and a dreamcast to run it on for less than what these sellers are asking for. Trust me, you will be glad you took this option. I have never met a person who regrets puschasing a dreamcast.
This game is awesome!

I love this game! I have it for dreamcast and will get it the first day it comes out on PS2. Even if you only play fighting games once in a while(like me)and enjoy them even the slightest bit when you do, you will love this game.
*WARNING*
If you dont have an arcade stick for your PS2, I suggest you purchase one along with this game because it is much less fun and even a bit harder to play without one.
A decent port, but the Dreamcast version is still superior

After taking so long to be released, I expected the Playstation 2 version of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 to at least be every bit as good as the Dreamcast version (plus hopefully some extra modes, characters, ect.). I was disappointed when I found out that compared to the arcade and Dreamcast ports, the PS2 version suffers from some minor slowdown and surprisingly, horribly muffled sound effects. This proves one of two things...either Capcom didn't spend much effort into making this conversion, or the PS2 simply has poor 2D sprite processing abilities. If you played the Dreamcast version recently you will notice an obvious difference, trust me. The gameplay remains intact however, and the slowdown is minimal (it only occurs during the most intense moments and when the score is being tallied at the end of a match). All and all, it's still a decent port...just not up to par with the Dreamcast one. If you own the Dreamcast version, there's no reason to get the PS2 version unless you just want to have access to it on a system with a wider user base (and a better controller I might add). For X-Box owners: Just wait for the X-Box version of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 due out in February of 2003. I'm willing to bet it will be a more faithful port.
What the hell?

The last review of this game pretty much mirrors my own opinion about this game... but who the HELL would buy it "brand new" for $89.99 USD? Better yet, who the HELL would actually sell this game for such an outrageous price?
For $89.99, I can buy THREE PS2 games...

If you are an arcade gamer, like myself. You know that marvel vs capcom 2 is "the" ... fighting game, more combos for you money than McDs, crazy tag-team, excellent graphics right in your face,... thumb hurting after hours of game play, without forgetting take a break son! ...
No compare with any other fighting game. I am so... glad is out there that I bought me an Arcade Joystick to have the full feeling like in the arcade. I know it took a bit too long to come out, but we (pS2 owners) have this opportunity to have an excellent game amongh other, so be gladed...
This game is a replica of the real thing (arcade) plus extra stuff, so buy it, play on and be nice!
