I just got it for christmas. I did play this for Dreamcast before. There is nothing wrong with this game, but it just doesn't feel right. The game is already 2 years old. Would feel better if it were a more recent game. THis should have been one of the first games availible for Ps2. But anyway, the game is great. I like how you can do a special and trade off to another characters special. One flaw in this game is the music. Its way to sly and jazzy. MvsC1 had better music. Overall......4/5

It'll keep you entertained for hours and hours.....

but you might hate the fact that all the fighters are practically the same in moves. That makes the game easier to learn I guess. The combo system is hard for me to get down, though I'm not much of a hardcore fighting game enthusiast. I loved the huge selection of fighters, 56 I think, from all the Capcom and Marvel Comics universe. From Jill Valentine with her zombie army, to the powerful Sentinal, the invincible Juggernaut, and many more. The levels are simple and really don't feal like they should be in a fighting game, and the music puts you out of the fighting mood. There are pictures and alternate costumes for every character to unlock, but by the time you're done you'll probably be burned out on the game. If you find this game at a Blockbuster or somewhere, I'ld say rent it and check it out for yourself, especially if yo have a friend to play against.

This has got to be the most busy fighting game to date. Fireballs seem to be getting bigger in each Capcom game. They used to be only tiny bubbles. Now they can take up half the screen. You really don't need to be a great gamer to do well in this game. Just know how to do a simple HA-DO-KEN and you're set. This game is stripped of any storyline. You play the game to fight. Not because you care about any of the characters personal lives. Capcom could have at least put in the classic taunts after battles end. They really seem to have gotten lazy with their 2D fighters. Just take a bunch of characters from previous games, throw them together and slap a new title on it to fool people into thinking it's a new game. It is a rather good game though. It's loaded with characters and most are hidden so you have to play a lot to unlock them all. Unless you're a cheater and gain points other ways. One low point in this game is the graphics. The backgrounds are amazing but the actual characters look terrible. Especially the larger ones. Capcom couldn't take the time to clean up the pixels? I really hope their next 2D fighter has more depth, storyline, and less flashy fireballs and more hand to hand combat.

Best 2D Fighter Period... but.. where's Gambit?!

Well I used to own this game, but I made the mistake of selling it off to gamestop when God of War came out, and now I'm sad. I miss the 50+ characters and the easy to pick and learn combo and tagging systems... I love the way nearly all of capcoms series are in this game (even resident evil makes an appearance with the character Jill). Needless to say once you've unlocked everything you feel an immense satisfaction... But I'll say now NEVER EVER SELL THIS GAME, especially if you like to play with your friends, and family... this game will keep being fun for years to come....But there are only two concerns I have for this..

1. Why is it so expensive? I'll say it's worth it but $104.00? thats ridiculous...Capcom should've anticipated the massive sales and produced more copies.

2. Why isn't Gambit in it?? He's one of the coolest X-men!! (It's been a while since I've had this game so he very well may be in it but I dont recall ever seeing him)

Even with the two flaws I give this a 5 out of 5 because it is a timeless classic that will continue to bring joy to gamers everywhere for years to come....Think the Final Fantasy 7 of 2D Fighting

Best Fighting Game Ever!

Forget Tekken, forget Smash Brothers, and forget Mortal Kombat. The vs. series is better than any other fighting game on any platform. I'm glad it's coming to PS2

Great Game

This is the best 2d classic "vs" game for the ps2 .... if you have a joystick like the arcade ones you are set with this game....this game is worth every penny....only drawback...graphics could've been a bit cleaner a bit too jaggy...

MEEP!

As I sit here playing Marvel vs Capcom 2, I start to think about arcade to console ports. Mostly I think it's just a way to make a quick buck, and I am probably right. Though, sometimes it really pays off (no pun intended).
This game was a blast to play in the arcades and is just as fun on the home versions.
The first time I played this was at my friend Bill's house, he kept beating me, I was upset.
Even though I kept losing against my friend there was one thing I didn't fail to notice; this is a great home/arcade fighting game!
There are a lot of new fighting games out now, and this one is showing it's age but that doesn't make it any less fun!
After so many years 'Marvel vs. Capcom 2' can still compete with all the new fighters *soul caliber 2, mortal kombat DA*.
You get a total of 56 *!* characters to choose from, some old, some new; and you pick three.
This really is a tag team game, street fighter/marvel style.
You have classic street fighter characters, marvle comic characters, and then other capcom characters (including resident evils Jill Valentine , my personal favorite).
This is basically mindless button mashing fun!

The aformentioned fighting games are still worth checking out by the way though, that's no excuse to ignore Marvel vs. Capcom 2. It's not deep, nor does it require a lot of thinkin' that more modern fighters require; but it is a great arcade game that translated very well onto home systems *I'm not sure about the xbox version, I haven't played it*.
This is both a fun single player and multiplayer game.
Capcom may repackage a lot of their titles but sometimes it really pays off. Thumbs so far up it hurts!

This is the last of it's kind. A two dimensional fighting game that will take a while for yout to get bored with. Nuff said.

good game, but flawed

When this game first came out, it blew every other fighter away in terms of speed, combos and chaos. Who would have thought you could fight with three characters at once? Well, you can't really fight with them, per se, but you can do supers with them, or call them out for an assist. This means a potential six characters at once. With something ridiculous like 56 playable characters or something, there are tons of different teams you can create. The graphics are fairly solid, and the controls are fairly straight forward as far as fighting games go, (there's no medium punches or kicks,)and it is fun... But I have one huge problem with the game. It is soooo unbalanced! Other than playing with friends or practicing, there are only about 10-15 characters you would seriously consider using in the arcade. Everyone else is either useful only for their assist. i.e. cyclops, psylocke or captain commando, or they're not useful at all. Who in God's name would ever seriously consider using Anakaris, or Sabretooth, or even Ryu? Nobody playing in a tournament, I'll tell you that. I always go to the arcade to play this game, and I'll try to have fun with my Amingo-Servebot-Thanos team only to get continually beaten by the same old characters, namely Cable, Magneto, Sentinel, Storm and Dr. Doom. The game itself is fine, but what's the point of having 56 characters if you're only going to end up using the same ones over and over again?

Addictive

This is by far my favorite 2D fighter. The graphics are superb and the controlls are excellent. The greatest pirk is the number of characters you can play as! New character include Jill Valentine, Hayato, Ruby, T.Bonne, B.B.Hood and Servbot on the Capcom side and Thanos, Cable, Magnito and Doctor Doom on the Marvel side. You can also play as characters from Marvel V.S Capcom and Marvel V.S Street Fighter. You can spend hours making a variety of teams that have skills or powers that complement each other perfectly (my team is Jill, Strider, Spider-man) or cool themed teams like X-men blue team (Wolverene, Gambit, Rouge)guarenteed to be played for hours.
