This is an absolutely awesome game. Hard enough, Awesome graphics and overall FUN. However this game has bad language in the videos and lots of name calling and violence. Weapons etc. So I do not recomend it fro small children. My 5 year old beat Jak and Daxter all by himself (ok Dad helped a little), but I will not allow him to play this game at all.
Needless to say.... too difficault

When I bought PS2 to my son Jak and Dexter was the very first game I bought to him, he was 5 at that time. I was able to finish the game and he too with my help and hints and he plays it all over again every day for more than a year. I was very happy that there was such a game that would be challenging enough but not mindlessly violent and bloody as many other games. When I heard that Jak II is coming I was really happy and my son couldn't wait to play it. But that is not the same game, not even close. The only common thing are the characters and that is all. Graphics and music are really great but I do not see any sense or purpose in repeating one task thousand times without any result and progress. I have enough experience in programming to see that SW is fantastic but there is so many disadvantage to JAK's character that he look so helpless. My son is coming to visit me and he will want to play Jak II but I know that he will be very frustrated and DISSAPOINTED. I am very sorry that I bougth this game. I am not the one who plays it 10-12 hours a day and and if that is majority of players around ...well I must be living on wrong planet than. I feel that Jak II is just not the game I expected, challening to player and not to be made to be hard and trendy.(I never played Grand Theft Auto because I find the concept of the game stupid and my mind do not have that , I would say sick part, as guys who made it and call it the GAME, so comparison between JAK II and GTA is irrelevant to me)
Jak II is pretty good.

Good!Great! Even better than the first one. I got this game last Christmas and once I started playing it, it was hard to stop. The in-depth storyline and Grand Theft Auto like gameplay, it might just've been the best action/adventure game of the year. Jak has changed a lot since the first one. He no longer a sweet little inocent kid, he's violent and hungry for revenge now.
Now although Jak is a good game, it has some minor flaws. The first one is that it lacks variety of weapons. It only has 4: Scatter Gun, Blaster Weapon, Vulcanic Fury, and The Peace Keeper. They are still great weapons, but there could've been more of them. Another flaw is that there is not a lot of levels. Yeah, it is a long game but you just go to the same levels over and over again. Anyway, beside those minor flaws, Jak II is a good game and I would recommend it to all Platformer fans.

Jak II, at first glance, is a much darker and more complex game than it's precursor. The graphics are greatly improved from the original, but the game play has become increasingly more complex. While the added challenge of the game may appeal to some players, to me it detracts from the elegant simplicity that made the first installment of this series such a fun game to play. Taking a page from Grand Theft Auto, a large part of the game (so far) seems to involve hijacking cars, running from the police, and blindly wandering around a maze-like city with a really poor map system. Again, this is both a blessing and a curse. The game play is fun and exciting, but gradually becomes wearisome as the 'Crimson Guards' shoot you out of the air for the 20th time.
The actual missions themselves, when you get to them, are similar to what we say in the original Jak and Daxter, if somewhat more challenging. New enhancements to the game such as the use of firearms and a hoverboard add some fun, but also present themselves with challenges of their own.
Naughty Dog Games has come up with a hit with Jak II, but be prepared for a very different game from the original.
A MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Story:10/10
First off, lets get one thing straight, this is not Jak and Daxter: the precursers legacy. For those of you who are sad for this reason, READ ON!!!!! With mission based gameplay, the ability to break the law by stealing cars, going on killing spree's, and just good ol' wreaking havoc. Jak 2 will engulf you in not only a crazy amount of fun, but a very impressive story line. In the beginning, Jak and the crew, daxter+the fat green guy from the first one+and the girl from the first one, are about to discover what that giant circular precurser artifact really does. Jak turns on the artifact, and is sent into the future to "Haven City," only to be met by army guards that knock him out. After 2 years of horrific torture and dark eco injections, Jak is finally rescued by his buddy Daxter. when jak is out, he wants revenge.....
Sound:9/10
Don't get me wrong, the music sound effects, and all other aspects of the sound in the game are perfect. however, as we all know it is a normal that the background music in all games become boring and mundane.
GamePlay:10/10
this game will change the way we look at platform games. No longer must we play in beautiful, lush, environments, and only collect, jump, and punch. jak 2 changes that idea of platform games totally! in jak 2 your just as bad as Grandtheft Auto, just as loaded as Ratchet and Clank, and just as wanted as osama. When playing you will,1. steal cars, 2.shoot things! 3.go on killing spree's, and 4. do what ever the $#@! you want.
Graphics:10/10
this game is one of the most beautiful things i have every seen.
However, the game takes place in a not so beautiful place. Haven City is dark, poor, and falling apart. The map is sooooo big, its one level is 25% bigger than the biggest level in the first Jak and Daxter. So making the graphics sooo incredible was a tuff task. but the people at naughty dog pulled it off, making it look easy.
Buy or Rent:BUY!!!!!
this game has it all. this is no doubt the best game i have ever played.
Jak II....Another Naughty Dog Masterpiece or a Misshap?

I'll admit, I've always loved Naughty Dog's games. I've followed the company's career with interest through the years, getting just about every game they've put out...including Jak and Daxter:The Precursor Legacy. That game was an interesting change for Naughty Dog but a welcome one and, I must admit, I loved the game(Not too difficult, not too easy....jusssst right!). So, it was with great enthusiasm that I looked forward to Jak II. I figured, when I found out he'd be toting a gun in this game, that it'd be something along the lines of what Insomniac(makers of Ratchet and Clank) was putting out but set in Jak and Daxter's world. Yet, I was wrong. It ended up being alot like Grand Theft Auto III, with platform elements thrown in. Not that it's a bad thing....Grand Theft Auto is a classic that will always be revered in time to come by the masses, including me. Thing is, it just wasn't quite like I imagined it to be. Course, Change is good and, for the most part, it works. I'm glad to see Naughty Dog is trying to give us something new...not the same old same old. I applaud them for that. Graphically, the game is absolutely stunning, overshadowing the original. The game is definitely worth getting and adding to your collection. One thing, though, why did they have to make it so infuriatingly difficult, at times?? Not that I mind a good challenge....in fact, I live for one in my games....but, why to the point where I throw down my controller in disgust?? Maximo:Ghosts to Glory is the only other game that I can remember in recent memory that was as hard and, even then, this game makes it look like a cakewalk. Course, the reward afterward makes it all worthwhile, I guess. So, it depends on how you look at things.
Overall, Jak II is a solid platformer further pushing the envelope in the genre. Just come into it looking for a challenge, cause you're definitely going to get one. I just hope they continue to push the envelope and give us something even more new with the next game. If they can do that, they will still have me as a fan....

Jak 2 is one of my favorite sequals
Pros:
excellent graphics
Superb voice acting
Nice storyline
Loads of fun
action packed
highly addictive
some missions are cool
got weapons so I can burst caps
Dark Jaks one bad dude
One of the few sequals that are on par or better than the first
cons:
Some missions are pure frustrating(Like using the robot, or racing in the last racing level)
Too bad the shooting style wasn't like max payne, or like the first one(Where u could use a 1st person style aim)
Cars explode way too easily, making the missions pretty frustrating
nutral:
I don't know if many people wan't to play a game that borrowed ideas(But this one acually executed it right(Unlike True Crime)
replay value totaly depends on u
this is a game jacked a nice percentage from Grand theft Auto(Jaking Cars), Tony Hawk Pro skater(Skating), Rachet and Clank(freestyle weapon control, and inventory), and Devil May Cry(Being able to transform into something stronger) but this game put it to good use. this game is one of the few games that are a Godfather Pt. 2 in videogames in my mind, and those who like the first Jak and Daxter should definitly give it a try, those who like platformers should give this a shot as well, but those who hate seing games use formals that were previously used, should walk on by.
peace
Great game, but a low point in the series

I played all three Jak games in a row, and I'll have to say that Jak II is the low point of the series, even though it is still a fantastic game. Jak & Daxter was a sublime platformer, and it is quite jarring to move from that game to the much more Grand Theft Auto-inspired world of Jak II. The gameplay and setting of the game is much different, and the darker, more adult storyline (this game is not for kids, unlike Jak & Daxter) is a stark contrast to the lighthearted romp of the first game.
However, Jak II offers a wide variety of play at a difficult, but not impossible level that makes you feel like you've accomplished something when you clear an area. There's racing, shooting, jumping, hoverboarding, and more, in an open, mission-based setting. The story is also well-written and backed up by fabulous voice acting and animatics.
I think the main thing people will notice is that this game is much more ambitious than Jak & Daxter, and that's perhaps its downfall. Playing Jak II you get the sense that Naughty Dog bit off a bit more than they could chew. Those who are halfway through Jak II and feeling frustrated by this should know that Naughty Dog got their act together on Jak III, which is perhaps the best of the bunch, keeping the good parts of II but dropping some of the frustrating bits, like the crowded streets, and adding in a bunch of great new material. In summary, enjoy Jak II, but enjoy it as the stepping stone between Jak & Daxter and Jak III.
Note: Jak II has a bug during one of the optional racing minigames that will make the game uncompleteable. Because the game autosaves, this will mean that your whole save is ruined, and can only be fixed by mailing your memory card to Sony. My suggestion is to skip most of the optional missions in the game (the kiosks, I believe the glitched one is near the stadium) and save your time for the optional missions in Jak III, which are more fun anyway.
Fantastic

This game was amazing, to put it simply. There are so many pros, I'm not sure I can list them all. However...this game is very different compared to its predecessor, Jak And Daxter. It is not as light-hearted and carefree, as I put it. Some people find this annoying and don't like it, others think it's even better than the first Jak and Daxter.
INTRO.
After defeating Gol and Maia, the evil charcters in the last game, Jak and Daxter return home with Samos and Keira. It seems that the 4 of them transported a a large Precursor Ring to Sandover Village. They never really explain why, I suppose just curiosity. But you know what they say. Curiosity killed the cat. And Jak, Daxter, Keira, and Samos are the cats. The group unwittingly opens a portal to another land and are flung into it, therefore effectively separating Samos and Keira from Jak and Daxter. Jak and Daxter wind up in a strange city, and Jak is taken prisoner by an elite squad called the Crimson Guards. Jak is experimented on with Dark Eco and Daxter still hasn't showed up. Any day now. Any week now. Any year now. Two years later, the smart-talking ottsel finally comes to Jak's rescue. The pair of them escape, and find out that Jak has found his voice...and some strange powers. The Dark Eco experimentation gave Jak dark abilities, and created a side of him that no one had ever seen before. Dark Jak has been created. Jak is now able to pick up small amounts of Dark Eco to transform himself into his crazed and vicious form. From that point, you get Jak and Daxter immersed in a quest to get revenge, liberate Haven City, find Samos and Keira and get back to their home.
GAMEPLAY
Jak II is amazing graphic wise. The characters move fluidly and look like real people. Haven is also detailed to perfection. You can see everything, from rocks on the street to the people moving around on it. Moving around is very easy, I've had no qualms with it. (It's basically the same controls as the first game, so no muss, no fuss ^^) Although, I have to say, it is kind of weird when you smash in a hovercar and:
A: Jak's body levitates in midair
B: Jak's head/arm/leg disappears into a building
or C: The camera angle goes crazy and circles 360 anround Jak's body
There are a few glitches like that, but they're pretty minor.
PROS AND CONS:
Pros
1. Good graphics
2. Good music
3. Fun levels (Albeit some of the are a little difficult
4. Awesome characters
5. Good plot
6. No loading times
Cons
1. Some strange glitches
2. Fighting can get a little repititive
OVERALL
Give this game a try! It's worth your time.
Gratifying game to play!

Yes, Jak is back! And he's wonderfully statisfying this time. Instead of the young, mute Jak you remember from the last game, this Jak is two years older, cooler, and can actually talk. You also get guns, good ones. And there aren't only two cutscenes in the game!
Jak is practically a new hero! And a new hero calls for a new story. As well as a new villain. Or many. The plot will really give you something to digest, while laughing at Daxter's hilarious antics. Whether charming babes or running for his life, Daxter's always got something humerous to say.
While Dax is lightening the game, Jak evens him out with sometimes cold, but always cool comments.
But don't think Jak II is all talk. With much more action than Jak and Daxter, the dynamic duo must venture through a new city, new wilderness, even a new time. Meeting a mixed assortment of new characters, like Torn, Ashelin, and the Baron, and also returning characters, like Samos the Sage and Kiera his daughter.
This is truly a wonderful experience for anyone.
Now, the cons of Jak II.
While the missions are awesome and fun, the checkpoints are few and far between. It will get very annoying to make your way nearly to the end of a long mission only to die and have to start all over.
Also, the game is truly difficult, exploiting the previous con. Not for newbs.
But all in all, i must give Jak II, a well deserved four out of five.
