under-rated. The difficulty is an excellent change from the first one--there is so much to do, such a longer adventure, so much diversity.
One problem : not enough to do in the city. Compared to Grand Theft Auto, you can't enter any buildings, jump on roof-tops, go on complex-chases, etc.
Otherwise, this is probably the best action-platformer of the year.

Gameplay renegade or genre retrogade... Um, both actually but the big eared hero and his pet weasel (what the hell is Daxter anyway)are back.A lot of has changed since their last game. The boys are a bit smarter now, well just Jak. Jak II have taken a big inspiration from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. They have just about the exact same map and enough guns to shoot the sun out of its orbit. A cool thing about this game is that You can get out your hoverboard by pressing the R2 button when ever you want no matter how unapropriate. Enough said. This is the best game everrr

I think that Jak II is a very exciting game. In this game you can hyiack hover cars, get four different types of weapons. My personal favorite is the Peacemaker. Half of the missions are hard and the other half are easy. My favorite part is when I hijack a futuristic police car, then drive to a secret hiding place and wait until the heat is off. Once the heat is off, I get to drive around and shoot other hover cars. My hardest mission was when I had to destroy camouflaged Metalheads. I would recommend this game to kids 11 and over and to anyone that liked Jak and Daxter and also to kids who like lots of action and adventure.

this is one of the best games i have ever played. there is so much to do. you dont have to stick to the story line either, it's just like grand theft auto 3. you can go from person to person taking jobs from who you like, or you can just cruise around jacking cars and roughing up the citizens of haven city. the levels aren't hard either. they are incredible from finding artifacts to rescue missions to all out wars with the metal heads. like i said if you dont like one level you can just go to another person and get a different level. my favorite part has to be fighting side to side with other characters. what else can i say. this is truly an awesome game.
Great but frustrating sequel

My daughter loved playing and completing the Jak and Daxter. This sequel requires alot of help from her dad (me). Of course I don't mind it since its really a fun but very frustrating game to play. We are 70% completion of the game. My daughter (7 yrs. old) did complete the air board and the arena racing games (which I could not do). She also discovered a nice advertisement of Ratchet and Clank in the part of the city with the bridges and waterways leading to the race arena.

I thought Jak 2 is the best. This is so much better then the first one because you can be free, not stay within the bounderies. The guns are awsome to. This game is so realistitc and I recomend it to anyone who likes action and adventure games.

Jak II is a great actioned packed game.I enjoyed Jak II much better than Jak and Daxter because you had more high-tech equipment such as hover boards and guns.

I've been hearing tooo many people complaining that this game is too hard. So I have advice; if you're not very good at video games you will frusterate yourself with this. So if you stink.. don't get this. And about the gun taking too long to reload thing, there are upgrades in the game that make the guns go faster( I know because I beat it). Thats all I got to say
BETTER THAN RATCHET AND CLANK GOING COMMANDO!

The first game of the now legendary trilogy, Jak and Daxter, was a light-hearted action/platformer/RPGish experience that broke new ground in that it showed just how beautiful, seemless, smooth, and enjoyable a game could be that combined perfect 3D platforming, traditional item questing (power cells anyone?), and fun mini-games. When a sequel was announced, and later released, doubtless many expected more of the same.
I remember the first time I fired this game up, and watched as Jak and Daxter were transported through a dimentional portal into a strange world. And then Jak was hit over the head with a gun by a soldier, imprisoned, and TORTURED with dark Eco. As Daxter tried to rouse his old buddy, he begged him to say something, and Jak finall did. His first words in the game series ever in fact. They were "I'm going to kill Baron Praxis!!!!!" Whoa.
So gone is the sweet and innocent utopia of the first game, replaced with a distopian nightmare futuristic city ruled by an evil warlord as he wages war with the new arch-enemies of evil "the metalheads". Some people will find the change shocking. Personally I think this game is awesome!
First of all, the free-roaming nature of the first game is kept in all it's glory, and there are NO loading times as you travel along. The same attention to detail in the animation and graphics is evident from the get-go, as well as a great musical score, tight controls, and so much more gameplay that it boggles the mind. You can now transform into "Dark Jak" with new powers to use. You can use guns, and they are upgradable. You will get a hoverboard (how cool is THAT?) with which to cruise around town. You can jump into other people's vehicles and battle against the cops (or run from them if you're smart). While this game is by no means an M-rated violence-fest, it certainly captures that anti-hero-on-the-run feeling that makes futuristic sci-fi movies a blast. I couldn't help but think of Blade Runner, The Fifth Element, and other classics of the genre as I wandered around the town completing missions (anybody else find the floating fat weapon-loving slimeball reminded them of Baron Harkonen from Dune?).
Really the biggest change in this game from the first one is that while the platforming elements are still there, every segment is now a mini-game/mission of its own, and there are very few segments where you really just go from A to B to accomplish your objective. This keeps you guessing as to what will come next, and gives the game a fresh, addictive style. Of course your mileage will vary depending on how much you like particular mini-games. And speaking of varying mileage...
If this game has one FATAL flaw it has to be the rediculous level of difficulty found in some levels. A game like this really should make it easy the first time through and then give you the option of a higher difficulty setting upon completion. Even with infinite lives, without help I never would have beat this game, and that would have quite a pity.
This game has some truly great moments, and a story that just sucks you in further and further the more you play. The whole plotline of a savior who will deliver the inhabitants of the city, time travel, the war of the metal-heads, and the wonderful love triangle is just great stuff. And I'll never forget the opening of the Temple of Doom style level that's filled with spike pits giant bugs and flaming devices of various sorts. When Jak lept through the closing doors and I got a look at the level I was both awed and terrified at the same time. Kind of like when the final boss was revealed and the whole time-travel thing was finally sorted out.
In short, this is one of the great action/platformers of all-time. If you played the first game you should definitely play the second one. True, it is more like a PG-13 as opposed to the G of the first game, but sci-fi fans are bound to have a blast with its story, and true gamers will love the gameplay. Just keep a friend on hand to help out with the tricky sections.
