The MAVV organization is ridiculous. Think about it MAVV, if everyone that played GTA-Vice City was influenced to committ crimes then almost 5 million people would be criminals. If you are going to keep saying that video games influence people to do bad things then how about some proof to go along with it. I've played Vice City and GTA 3 and i still do well in school, never tried drugs, and I've never done any crime whatsoever. People do not just play the game to go out and kill poeple and watch an imaginary character take drugs... They play it because of the cars, the missions, the city, and the plot. Don't give the game to young kids just because of the cursing and nudity but kids 16 and older can handle it. IF they cant then one of the MAVVs should've raised them better. I'm 150% sure that after I beat a mission on the game that I won't go hijack a trolley and do a four-man drive by thru the streets, killing innocent people.

PS- How much nudity does it have in it?

Very Enjoyable

Hello, I am a twelve year old boy from virginia. I personally love this game. I started with this franchise with Grand Theft Auto III. I was highly addicted, i played Vice City, but i didn't pick it up. But Two days ago i baught SAn Andreas. It was amazing. It is such an improvment over 3 and vice. I especialy like how you can ride bycicles too, a first for the franchise. The Player custimisation is also very well done. Somone before me said its stupid to play games about crime and we should do it in life. Hes the kind of person who shouldn't be playing this game. I know most parents won't listen to ME. but my reccomendation is, if your child wants this game, i say rent it and play it. if you don't think its appropriate. Stick with your gut instinct. I also get mad at all these people who wantM-rated games off store shelves. Why not attack r-rated movies? yeah, thats what i thought. But all In All. I would really reccomend picking this up, you won't regret it.

Now, to be honest, I have never played this game. But when I accidentally stumbled upon the review section, I was shocked to see that it had already been given such a low rating. How, I ask, can such a game even be rated by other people when it hasn't even hit store shelves yet!? It is obvious. The Grand Theft Auto franchise has been absolutely blasted over the years due to its gruesome depictions, crude actions, and questionable ethics. It has been besieged by parents all over the nation, and perhaps for a good reason. It is a game which has been both unequivocally loathed by parents and unquestionably adored by gamers across the nation. But which ever way you sway on the subject, one thing is for certain: the Grand Theft Auto game series is one of the best and most revolutionary games on the market, and I have no doubt that San Andreas will further the legend. I have played Grand Theft Auto. I have played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. And do you know what I said to myself after playing each game? I didn't say I was revolted, sickened, disgusted, or would picket Washington D.C.; I told myself, "Wow . . . someone put a LOT of work into this. The GTA staff created an ENTIRE city filled with characters and hidden events." So, how can I give it such a good rating you ask? Well, like I said, I HAVE played its predecessors (which is something most of its critics can't say), and not only was I pleased, I was glad to be able to witness a revolution in the video game industry. So let's get back to what a review should be. The fact of the matter is, whether you like it's message or not, GTA is a fine addition to anyone's video game collection. As for the blood, violence, and so on . . . . Well, I have been a gamer for several years and have always been attracted to games with violence. But guess what parents of America, I have never shot a REAL person in the head, I've never beaten a REAL hooker to death with a crow bar, or sold crack to REAL children via ice cream trucks. Video games don't make people violent. The fact of the matter is that WE ARE a violent people. We tune into car chases, watch action movies, and are absolutely entranced by a good ol' fashioned, bloody horror film. And so what? We've all played the classics, like Super Mario Bros. and PacMan. But how much better would those games be if you could light Mario on fire and watch him squirm in his bloody death pyre? How much better would PacMan be if, after gobbling up those little dot thingy's, his stomach grew and grew until it exploded and filled the screen with pixilated bits of yellow gore? Violence is just the icing on the cake. But it doesn't MAKE people abandon their conscience or lose that basic respect for their fellow man. Guess what parents . . . children are no different. And to every parent who cries for an end to GTA citing that it might cause their kid to become violent, I say this: "Oh, how little faith and esteem you must hold for your child."

Easily the BEST game ever!!!!

I finally beat this game 100% and trust me its a long game. The time i spent on this game was 105 hours and thats a hell of a long time. The missions are easy and the game is sooo addictive. I plan on beating it again some time, but I think I'll go back to GTA 3 and beat that wonderful game and then on to Vice City and after that of course San Andreas. Also look out for the new GTA coming out for PSP. I think its coming out next month and I will definitely be getting that game too. Like I said buy this game and you won't be disappointed. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???

What an amazing game

This is probably the best game to ever hit the PS2. Yes, this game is very sick and twisted, even without that bloated Hot Coffee mod. Yes, this may be the game that might have your PS2 controller smashed in frustration (*cough* Zero Missions *cough*). But the sheer size of this game, coupled with the amount of diversity and possibilities, makes this a true gaming milestone.

Put simply, this game is huge: 5 to 6 times the size of Vice City. It took me over half an hour to drive from one city to another. The amount of things that you can do in this game is stunning: Eat, swim, climb mountains, fly jetplanes, change clothes, work out, build stats, go on dates: all here.

And of course using a variety of weapons and jacking cars is still an essential part of the GTA experience: The weapon targeting in this game was a huge step up from the ridiculous auto-aiming engine from Vice City, and the driving controls were sharp as always.

I thought that the graphics, while still showing a litttle bit of pop-up here and there, were still pretty stunning for the dated RenderWare engine, especially in the lush countryside. The story and voice acting were good, but Young Maylay (CJ), Sam Jackson (Officer Tenpenny) and James Woods (Mike Toreno) were particularly impressive here. OG Loc was pretty annoying though.

The music was the only thing here that I thought was pretty mixed: I'm not a huge fan of rap, but even I could tell you that the gangsta rap station was the best one on here. Both Radio X and the classic rock station disappointed me compared to V-Rock from Vice City, and who the hell thought it was a good idea to put a country station on here? All the other stations were pretty forgettable. I usually put on my own music while playing most games anyway, so I won't take points off here.

Other than the halfway-decent soundtrack, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is a riveting success of a game and every mature gamer should buy it immediately.

My favorite game!

The first time I played this, I couldn't stop at all. One time when my friend spent the night, we were up until 5 in the morning (We played for 9 straight hours and only made 10% of that time). So trust me, it's very long. It took me over 100 hours to beat it 100%, so you'll never get bored.

In this game you got nothing but freedom. What you mainly do is missions, earn money, spend money, work out at the gym, eat to stay healthy, shoot, kill, steal, drive, fly (from jetplanes to passenger airplanes), etc. It's hard to explain it all in a review because there's just so much to do. It's even better than the previous GTA's and they were even good. I also like the character alot. He's just cool and "gangsta" to me. The only problem is the language. For me it's not a problem, but for kids (and even those strict parents) it may be too much for them and I mean like every 10 seconds comes the words S*** and F***. But if you can see pass that, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Overall, if you don't mind hurting (killing) people and the bad language, than this game will keep you entertained for hours on end. Trust me, you won't regret it!

San andreas is a true epic in every sense of the word. its one of those exceptionialy rare games that eats up hours of my time without me even realizing where the time went. its one of those special games that you say ill just play it for 2 more minutes and then that becomes 3 hours. a couple things that make this game stand out from the rest of the grand theft autos is both the sheer magnitude of the overall world and the refined mission structure. sure san andreas is great in other ways but its those two things that really put it over the top. san andreas is BIG. it is comprised of 3 cities and the countryside in between them. you have a clone of la san fransisco and las vegas. the countryside is also huge and breathes with epic life. the graphics are extremely good considering all the detail on screen going on at any given time. the bland flat look of vice city is gone and the graphics have jumped up considerably higher on the scale. los angeles portion of the game comprizes of realistic roads and ritzy sundried ghettos. san fransisco is hiloly and somewhat bland looking but very realistic. las vegas presentation impressed me with extremely accurate lighting effects a strip full of casinos and red hot desert furnaces. but the most impressive part of the package is the stunning countryside which looks just lovely. photorealistic foliage wonderfully textured moautins and dazzling lighting effects make these areas look better than everything else and thats saying a lot. all the trademark details return veichles. people and other things are extremely life like and a joy to watch the game also runs at a very impressive 60 fps. the refined mission structure is easily the games greatest merit. the missions are very exciting this time around and pack in all the thrills of a grade a action movie. one pacticularly exciting mission had me traverse a warehouse. take out a specific gang member which notified police about me. then the police chased me the cops cars along with cop choppers pirsuited and i had to take them all out with an ak 47 i fell into a billboard dived several hundred feet down in a blazing wreck and blew up several veichles including a gasoline truck in the process. missions are very good and often multipart youll perform burglaries. casino heists. save people from fires. steal military hardware. choose and pick gangmembers. perform drive by shootings and so on and so on. the average mission here generally feels a lot more exciting epic and multipart than in vice city and there are few missions that will have you wondering why the hell they need to be completed unlike vice city. on the downside the difficulty has definitely been upped since vice city and some of the miisions are severly difficult although if you keep trying diffrent tactics youll be able to beat the levels a good vareity of weapons also helps. some of the difficulty does feel rather artificial but this is still by all means a tough game. speaking of weapons theres a good vareity here including rifles. pistols. submachine guns. shotguns. sniper rifles. ak 47s. rocketlaunchers. molotov cocktails. body armor. grenades. nightsticks. chainsaws. shovels. knifes. silencer guns. daggers. hammers. chains and more. the veichle physics are much better youll still be able to do tricks with them and gain skill points the more points you have the better it controls. the motorcycles are a lot cooler this time around and theres once again a huge vareity of veichles on the road and in the water. including suvs. vans. sports cars. ambulances. motorcycles. racing rigs. ice cream trucks. buses. tanks. helicopters. boats. police cars. firetrucks. pick up tricks and for the first time ever airplanes. one of the most intresting features of the game is the wide assortment of customization involved with the characther including eating and lifting to stay in shape or just eating and getting out of shape. also the game allows you to buy clothes as well as date girls. i could go on and on about this game the realism. the physics. the control. the storyline spoliers. the weapons. the veichles. the characthers. the sheer sise of the game but to tell you everything about this title would be to write a book. ive never played a game that made me as happy as san andreas nor have i ever enjoyed or been in awe of a game like i was about this one. even if youve never been taken by a big budget title before san andreas is sure to live up to the hype for you. its a gem a classic a perfect 10 everything you can think of. it is the best richest grand theft auto ever made. the best playstation 2 game to date and one of the most engrossing and enjoyable games ever released. it will take up hours and hours to even the most casual of gamers and i cant think of a reason why it wouldnt. all the elements of this game. the sise scope. detail. characthers. story. weapons. sitiautions. cinematic qaulity action and great voice acting make it one of the most styilish enjoyable and overly epic games ever released. if you own a ps2 you owe it to yourself to buy san andreas. if you dont own a ps2 return whatever you got for chrhismas and buy this game its simply that damm good.

So you like to play GTA huh? Well, GTA:SA is the freakin game for you! I've played it and I couldn't put it down. The game is so freakin huge that it took me almost five full days to beat it (I'm talking about without codes you cheaters) and I still have so much to do in the game.
Let me give you the layout and how it compares to the other GTA games for the PS2.
First off, you are Carl Johnson, or better known as CJ. He's been hanging out in Liberty City (GTA III's battleground)and has come home after hearing word his mom has died. Right off the bat he's back home in Los Santos (a model of Los Angeles) and there are so many things you can do. This is where San Andreas hits you with all their new features. Four person drive-bys, weapon training, clothing shops, gyms, tattoo parlors and barbers are all new features you can use to help with the destruction and personalize your character (personally I liked my CJ really buff with the blonde cornrows and lots of tattoos, but yours is completly up to you.) We also see the newest and allready well known add-on, food! (Good rule of thumb, eat a big meal every third day and he won't be getting scrawny, after all, who wants a thug you can snap in half?)
after some experimentation with the new set up, you start a gang war against the other gangs of Los Santos. Here you can take a private crusade to claim the entire city or of you want to continue on with the game just follow the missions.
After awhile you leave Los Santos and end up in hickville for awhile. This is also a new feature seeing ho you will now have missions that span miles accross the map, imagin a mission where you have to start in the port of GTA III and have to drive all the way to the burbs on the third island, some of these missions are that long. Robbing banks, taking out rednecks, and finding lost snitches await you in the mountains of San Andreas, you even do a little street racing and meet a couple of familiar faces from other GTA games.
Then we go to San Fierro (based off of San Fransisco) where the game seems alot like GTA III, where you are the mindless muscle of many wealthy buisnessmen looking for some unorthidox payed help. After rustling in drug trafecking and taking out a coke factory, its on to the desert!
The nothern island where Las Venturas (Las Vegas) is all kinda seems remote, until you unwittingly stumble upon the Hoover Dam or GTA:SA's own Area 51 (promptly giving you five stars if you even come near the place) The desert is even more expansive than the mountains, hiding even more within their caverns and lost valleys with plenty of cliffs to do some crazy tricks off of and even a ghost town and abandoned airport. Then we come across Las Venturas, whose missions are an awfull lot like GTA: Vice City, where you become the happy owner of a few buisnesses (casinos, car washes, auto dealerships) and you complete missions in order to establish yourself as a crime kingpin.
I'm not going to give away yhr ending of the game, but lets just say its well worth the long progression to it.
San Andreas has so much stuff in it, it's like having all the GTA's and many more games wrapped up into it, with still the classic style of a do-anything kill-anybody attitude we all love in every GTA. Even if you're not doing a mission, its still fun to run ramped and give the cops someone to chase, except now they can chase us through three major citys and miles of countryside. This is by far the best game I have played to date, and if you own a PS2 and do not have this game, you are a sinner and must burn in the fires of my flamthrower!

Firstly - this game is excellent. Arguably the best I have ever seen on the PS2. Secondly, I am from the UK and bought my copy from the US for the simple reason that it is out earlier and having tested a beta version I wanted the full version as soon as I could get my hands on it. Thirdly, have any of the moralistic happy-clappy Christian whingers posting on this page thought that it is just possible that games don't kill people, people kill people? It might help if you banned ownership of guns like any civilised society but no, its all the fault of those Rockstar Satan worshippers, not the crazed adolescent with Daddy's AK47. Frankly the logic is absurd. People play GTA in England too and we have less murders in a year that Washington has in a week. So you see people it aint the game, its the guns. Easy really. Finally this game carries an 18 certificate in the UK so kids shouldn't be playing it anyway. I for one, am going to enjoy my virtual crime spree and then go about my day without once thinking about shooting anybody in real life. But then again, I'm not a right wing bigot who belives in creationism or some equally idiotic myth. By all means believe what you want but don't tell the rest of us how to live because that way lies fundamentalism and facism.
God save the Queen. Peace.
