Awesome game!

I highly highly recommend this title to a mature audience ONLY. The language is very bad here. Yes there is lots of killing but it really isn't that graphic. The language is the main con. I wish they wouldn't trash up games like that. You can have a great game without the profanities. I know they are trying to fit the setting but still they should include a language toggle option. But setting that aside, this game is sooo much fun! There are many many hours of gameplay here, and that's just counting the 100+ missions for the storyline. There are the usual taxi, firefighter, etc. levels to do as well if you are one of those who want 100% completion. I love being able to modify the cars too and change them into hotrods. I did find a bug though were I have lost a lot of cars in my garages around the city. It didn't matter if I have one car or three in my garages, I still lost a number of them. But all you gotta do is go to the casino and win big so you will have plenty of money to replace the hotrods. But that annoinance aside, this game is well worth playing indeed. Highly recommended.

best game ever

This game was recalled by Rockstar, probably because a bunch of parents got together and complained, and probably threatened lawsuits if this game was not recalled. Whoever had this game recalled, I am twenty-five, and old enough to understand that people should not copy the violence they see in this game. Yes, I know why the game was recalled! It was recalled because there is a sex toy that can be found in the locker room of the police station IF you survive long enough to find it! Also recalled for nudity. If you don't want your kids playing the game, don't buy it! It's not that difficult to figure out! You made it difficult for me to purchase this game, and I do NOT appreciate that! To the person who complained that you are not out fighting gangs and corrupt cops, I don't know what game you're talking about, but it can't be this game. You DO fight off gangs, and the story starts out where Carl Johnson "CJ" is framed by........CORRUPT COPS! Get your s*** straight man!

Now for my review. I very much enjoy this game, and I think those who are wealthy enough to afford it will find it to be much better than Grand Theft Auto: Vice City; which was also a very good game, with the exception that your character couldn't swim. Everything I've seen in GTA: San Andreas was better. The guns and explosions sounded more realistic, and I thought it was pretty cool that it wasn't all city, but that they also have some countryside. You can also travel away from the mainland. Nothing to see out there, but its a new feature on this game. In Vice City, you couldn't lose wanted stars by simply changing clothes if you had more than two stars. In this game, you can change appearances through: Getting tatoos, changing clothes, getting a haircut. At least two of those methods will lose police attention. You can also lose wanted stars by going for a swim in the ocean, and going under water. If you are into using cheat codes, there is one that gives you unlimited lung capacity; which can make it easier to lose a wanted star or two. There are many safe houses to be purchased as well. Jet packs make it easy to outrun the cops too. Terrific game. Sorry it was recalled.

The Best Game...and AO Clarification

This game is great! If you've ever played a "Grand Theft Auto" before, you'll love this game!

However, a word about rating this game AO...

Originally, only the PC version could be changed, but that required a special modification, which had to be downloaded & was not advertised on any official site. Rockstar still claims that it is ONLY accessed by downloading this hacker mod.

Then, the people at GameSpot were able to unlock the banned content on the PS2 version. After that, Rockstar said that it was "unfinished content" that wasn't released with the game, but remained on the disc. Here, Rockstar was at fault. They should have removed it from the finalized disc. However, to unlock it using an 'Action Replay Max' device & enter several cheat codes to access it.

Rockstar should have wiped this content from the disc, BUT, I will remind people that the game was rated "M for Mature". Items such as: intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language, may appear in "M" rated games.

Oddly, that sounds like a RATED "R" MOVIE. Those who have 8, 9, & 10 year-olds wouldn't take their children to movies which incluse ALL those classifications, would they? I didn't think so! So, why would you let your young children play this game?

ESRB DIDN'T need to rate this game AO, and ruin it for those who are "emotionally able" to handle it. Stores DON'T need to ban it, they need to ENFORCE their "M" ratings. Movie theaters WON'T sell "R" rated movie ticketsa to minors, so why should a store sell an "R" rated game to a minor?

Without the special downloads & cheats, this game WON'T show content of a sexual nature. Without it, it's just like the other GTA's, but with a little more cursing.

The stores need to pay more attention, instead of just trying to make a quick buck. More inportantly, parents should regulate what their children play.

The best way? Read an Amazon.com Review!

Good, BUT not as good as people would have you think.

GRAND THEFT AUTO: SAN ANDREAS is a good game, but it is by no means the masterpiece the majority of people would have you believe.

Reasons:
1) It's a lot like the previous installment, VICE CITY. Just more of the same in my opinion.
2) The graphics are terrible. I'm sorry, but they are.
3) Horrible controls. Trying to steer the damn BMX at the beginning is near impossible!

GTA:SA is not bad, but it's not good either. Way, way, WAY over-hyped. When I played it, I was amazed everyone thought it was so great.

Are people missing the point here?

The reason this game is going to be incredible is because of it's size. It it not just gangstas' in the hood, people. San Andreas is supposed to represent California. This game covers a whole state, that is why it's gonna blow our minds. It contains three cities to represent San Fran, LA, & Las Vegas. EACH of these cities will be several times BIGGER than Vice City. Then there's the changing countryside in between. Going from mountains and redwoods in the north to beaches and valleys in the south. Rockstar estimates over 200 hours of gameplay to complete it. San Andreas is an epic game, as if we expected any less from the gurus at rockstar. There are too many insane details to list, for one your apetite affects your appearance and physical condition. Check out the review from GMR magazine if you want to learn more. To put it simply; BUY THIS GAME (if you want it). I know I will

The Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise continues to roll on. Having played and enjoyed every GTA since it began on PSOne, each new iteration improves on the last.

GTA 3 gave the franchise a 3D environment where the game play move from the top down 2D perspective to an environment which added real excitement when driving and runnin' and gunnin'.

Vice City allowed for more interaction with the environment, the ability to purchase safe houses and businesses of ill-repute and the introduction of the PCJ-600 (the best addition to an almost perfect game).

San Andreas like Vice City is an envolution of its predecessor but features some pretty cool aspects:
- precision aiming with an over the right shoulder camera view (like the camera which followed Val Kilmer in the movie HEAT);
- The ability to modify and choose your appearance;
- A huge playing environment.

However, the humor that was part of all the previous games is not as prevalent and reduces the fun of the game. This is a real shame because the game pushes the boundaries of gaming today.

It is still too early to tell (I haven't finished the game yet) but it is another quality product from arguably the most progressive game developers today: Rockstar.

BTW - The voice cameos are better in this iteration and any previous GTA game.

Eat. Sleep. San Andreas.

Honestly, I would have been satisfied with just another game in the series without any improvements... but Rockstar went out of their way to make another incredible game.
Read the other reviews if you want to know all of extras and accessories, I won't bother retelling them.
The game is indeed worthy of a $50/$45 price tag, of which few games ever are.
So, don't hesitate on buying yours, the game company should be rewarded for its endeavors. Afterall, very few - if perhaps, any - PS2 games are this well made.

Cheers.

This is a great game. It's not a morality play !

I love this game. It's pure fun. Some people are sickened by the violence or the questionable morality of the game's content but hey, this game is Rated R for a reason. It is ADULT entertainment.

And boy, what fun it is.San Andreas is a huge landscape of fast cars, gangs and racey women.

The only problem with the game is that it can become all-engrossing because there is so much that you can do in it.

However, if you are strict about how long you spend on it per day, then it becomes a nice diversion for an hour or two

Sadly, I gave into the hype and bought the game. Here is why I am so disappointed in my choice:
1) The character mtc activities (lifting weights, eating, cutting hair, etc.) should be optional and are annoying.
2) The map is very hard to read and the symbols are very illegible. This causes you to have to go to the map and zoom in/out every minute or two just to figure out where you are going.
3) The movie scences in between the mission are distracting and disappointing.

Basically, game is more of a SIM game than a shootem' game like the last 2 versions.

I would wait until you can buy a used version and save yourself $20.
