The best GTA game to date? Hardly!

First off, I do not rate this game poorly because it offends me. I honestly believe that Rockstar took a step backwards with San Andreas. First off, the graphics are horrible compared with the past GTA games. I know that graphics aren't what make games fun (something that almost everybody seems to be forgetting these days), but the problems with them here are pretty much unavoidable. Looking into the distance at times yields a blank backround and at certain points while driving, a seam will appear which can be somewhat confusing. Not only this, but the character models here are actually worse than they were in the series last 2 entries.

Secondly, the soundtrack is lame. Vice City had the most impressive soundtrack I have ever seen in a video game. However, San Andreas yet again falters in comparision. Not being a fan of rap music, I cannot give this part a fair review, but most of the music actually made playing with the volume down on my tv more enjoyable.

Also, the storyline is downright awful. Gone are the varieties of missions that we knew and loved. Most of these missions had me doing the same thing over and over (go here, kill this guy, retrieve some object....etc). While these missions are fun at first, after about 2 hours of playing, I began to wonder why it seemed like I might as well have played the first set of missions over and over again.

Lastly, the dialouge here is trash. While Vice City's dialouge was a very welcome addition to the GTA series, it seems to me that the point of the dialouge in San Andreas is to see how many times they can cram the N word into a sentence. Downright awful.

Is this what video games have become? This game continues to fly off the shelf because people will bypass horrid storylines, average graphics and poor layout design just to be considered "cool" and "edgy". If you are looking from some truly 5 star GTA, I suggest you pick up Vice City or GTA 3, which while dated, still provide more fun than this god awful piece of garbage.

I know i don't play it yet

so i can only give this game three stars becuz i aint played it yet, but it is gunna be awesome. their is gonna be real casinos that you can build and make money in and gamble in and you can beat people up who you dont like in your casino an then when you can throw them out. this game is gunna be awesome. i liked gta3 and vice city and even though i couldnt play those games either (my mom thinks there to violent) but i think that she will buy me this one and it will be cool becuase it is in los angeles and you can be a gangster and you can have for people drive by shootings like you can see in the screen shot. so i would like to give this game five stars but i havent played it yet so i am gunna give it three stars until i can play it.

I can't beleive someone would even say that this is a bad game. Between this and the new metal gear are going to be the games of the year hands down. I like GTA because it lets me do all the things I feel like doing sometimes in the real world. It's kind of theraputic. You cause chaos and not do time for it, at least not real jail time. If you can't handle the violence then play some disney sh#t, don't insult me and real GTA games buy playing the game then writing a bad review because "it's say's f#@k too much". Eventhough I own an XBOX, I'm a die hard playstation 2 fan so I think since GTA should be exclusive to Playstation 2. "Viva la Playstation"

dun it again

We always tell our children not to lie, steal, cheat, and murder. Why would we spend all the time we spend trying to raise our children to become successful adults, only to buy a game like Grand Theft Auto SanAndreas, which goes against all the rules? This game has everything we fight against everyday looking as if it's oKay because it is a game. There are corrupt Policemen, men picking up prostitutes, and different gangs, just to name a few. Even though this game is marked for mature audiences it is sure to be seen by children. At what point do we say enough is enough, our children are confused enough, let's keep games fun and positive.

This game will Rule all games

How can anyone say that this game wont be the best game of all time. Isnt it true that GTA games only get better each time they make a new one? I am going to order this game as soon as I can because when it comes out I know it will sell fast. Finally Gta is on the west cost. I havent played it yet but I know this will be the greatest game of all time. New guns, cars, new characters, you get your own gang, get to go into every building, get to swim, you can own your own casino, you can ride bikes, the levels are ten times bigger, you have to keep your guy healthy by eating right, you can do a four person drive by, and best of all you can commit grand theft auto.

San Andreas, a great place to raise your sister's kids

Grand Theft Auto to me is the Cadillac of games, They use multiple movie refrences in each game so no matter what your a fan of (As long as it isn't the Care Bears) your gonna get your flavour of style.

Just the facts ma'am:
This game does NOT take place in the 1970's, it takes place in the early 1990's and follows the life of "Carl Johnson." Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas... a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.

On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets

If you diss the GTA, well your gonna be on the bad side of about 30 million fans of the series worldwide. The bottom line is this: The game is gonna be a masterpiece and you can consider yourself lucky if you manage to get a copy on its release date, I have mine pre-ordered but I will also camp out in fron of Toys R Us in a carboard box the night of October 18th, The game comes out in the UK on October 22nd.

It was fun yet annoying

The game as a whole was pretty good. I played it many o nights until 8am trying to beat missions and ultimately beat the game. The thing about it is that some of the missions are just plain horrible. The toy plane mission was the most frustrating thing I have ever encountered in gaming history. It took me continous efforts and about 4 hours of trying to beat that mission. And if I hear "Launch the Red Baron" one more time I will seriously slit my wrists.

Besides that the game is great. It's very large and the added fun of getting into a plane and flying it around the cities, while also being able to parachute out of the plane. That's just great. I thought the most fun was when the other areas were not unlocked yet and you take a plane over there. Instant cops and about 4-5 stars. Then it's fun jumping out and running to get into cars and killing cops just to see how long you could see the new world.

I highly suggest picking this one up for a test drive. It's not for everyone (well because it's for adults and it's also a game that might not tickle your fancy) but if you like any of the other GTA's or just love a great game that lets you free roam then pick this up.

botched gameplay

I would have really enjoyed this game if they had just kept the driving controls the same as previous games. Driving with the d-pad isn't an option anymore. Most of the fun I had in vice city was the driving and the precise control I had with any car. Vice city is by far the best game in GTA franchise. Just because san andreas has a vast map (boring but vast), doesn't mean anything. This game isn't CLOSE to the best game I've ever played, though little kids everywhere are saying it's the "best game I've ever played". When I bought vice city I was INSTANTLY hooked for a couple weeks. I got bored with san andreas real quick. the driving just wasn't as fun, and driving is most of the fun for me. It's pretty sad that they didn't include an option to change the driving controls so you wouldn't be forced to use inferior and less precise controls. This game was rushed and you can tell by the gameplay and the graphics are laughable, not to mention that annoying orange hue that you see all the time in the day. OOOOOO wow I can go shopping and get a haircut!!! LMAO last time I checked GTA wasn't about going around shopping for clothes and accessories like a girl. And the whole gangbanger dialogue is pretty annoying.

Mafia > petty street thugs

Vice City > San andreas
