It is definitely not a game for kids because of the nudity. The storyline is pretty cool and it kind of feels like your in Ancient Greece. It's about an ex-Spartan soldier who seeks vengeance against the god of war---Ares. The storyline is not that long. It would take about 3days to a week playing for 3 hours a day. Lots of good extras, 4 difficulty levels(one is bonus), funny easter eggs. Fighting medusas, satyrs, and meeting some of the gods. There is a couple of hard parts but I got past them. Graphics are one of the best I've seen in a game. But it was under construction for a couple of years. Good job Sony, keep up the good work, and make a new one.

This game is definetly the best game ever made. first of all the main character named Kratos is the coolest character ever created he seems as strong as Arnold Swarhznegger on 15 steroids. Next thing is that the story is great, this story isn't just great its epic. Another thing is the graphics are beautiful they might not be the best graphics but they are great and this game is definetly not for kids the violence is like a picnic with killers ripping people apart. This game is more unique than other games, and there a lot more reasons why this game is best game of this year, but these are just a few of reasons why this game is best game of this year.

Good plot line, great battle sequences, cool main character - definitely worthy of a PS2 classic.

This is one of the best games I've played in a while. Something about ripping the wings off Harpies and stomping on them gives me some stress relief. The cut scenes are good and the boss battles are really hard. They should make a movie out of this one. Tell Vin Diesel to slap on some red zig zag paint and get to filming.

The game incorperates a hobby experience that grabs me to the core of my being and be the only thing I wanted to do. I have never seen such a great hack/slash been so well incorperated into a adventrue/puzzle game. By far, God of War is one of the best games I have ever played.

Excellent Game, Not for the Kids

God of War is an extremely excellent game. It's a game that you can play through more than once, and still have a great amount of fun. It's more than just a mere button mashing game, which really helps the game shine. Every piece of God of War is what makes it one of the better games for PS2. Well, to start off with, the game throws you right into action explaining the fundamentals of the game. I hate games that take forever before you really take off and get any extreme great action. But this isn't one of those games thankfully. The gameplay is very fast paced, even some of the puzzles you have to have the speed to get through them. The game does move by quite fast, but there are really no "levels", more of areas than anything. But, if you go back through on God mode, it will take quite a long time for almost anyone. So it does have good replay value. I think this could very be one of the best PS2 games for 2005. The greatest thing about Kratos is, he really is one of my favorite characters ever. He can be a nice guy, but he can also turn around and tear your head off. It just makes the game so great. On a final note, parents, this game isn't meant for children. I'd advise you don't buy it for them unless you want them exposed to well everything a video game can offer to be mature. So, make sure you look into the game a little bit before buying Little Johnny God of War.

I have never written a review for a game before. I never really cared that much, however this game is beyond anything I've ever played.From the story, to the actual game playing it is fantastic in every sense. The imagined Greek world is beautiful to look at, and continues to amaze. Whether it's the dark reds of the underworld, or simply swimming underwater in Poseidon's domain, there is no detail left out. The fights are brutal and gory, but mostly they're with creatures, although there are some particularly graphic cinema sections that include multiple impalings, beheadings, and dismemberments. The game also includes nudity, but beyond an early on humorous amorous encounter with two women, is strictly characters bare breasts through their sheer tops.
I also appreciated as someone who doesn't have a ton of free time, that the game doesn't take forever to complete. Or perhaps it was just that I became so obsessed with it, it felt like less time. Whatever the reason, I totally flipped out for this game and would recommen it to anyone who's ready for something other than 'Grand Theft Auto'.

One of the best titles on PS2 (Along with God of War II) this game pushes the limits on the PS2, Great graphics, awesome storyline, cool music, great combat system, great environments and textures, very cool places to explore. Very brutal, and violent this is a must have for everyone, even if you're under 17 get someone older to buy it for you, there is quite abit of nudity in this game (mostly girls) so beware of the adults if you're a kid. 10.5/10 -- 5.5/5 stars. GET IT!
