I'm really enjoying DW4; it looks like it's going to be just as addictive as DW3. Great strategy/action, improved graphics, more options/minigames/sidequests, and fun gameplay all add up to a great experience. The only black marks on DW4's record for me:

One, there's no language option this time around. Fortunately, the English voices aren't nearly as bad as they were in DW3, but supposedly Chinese characters mangling the pronunciation of Chinese names is incredibly grating. I far preferred the Japanese language track in DW3 (though having some kind of Chinese language track might have been nice).

Two, this game will apparently not work with PS1 controllers-- neither of my old Dual Shocks, which still work fine, were recognized by DW4. So if you haven't bought a second Dual Shock 2, you'll need to in order to have a second player.

However, these are fairly minor nitpicks; overall, the game itself is well worth picking up if you enjoyed DW2 and/or 3.

Grab your weopon and go to the battle field!

This is a fun game. At 1st i wasn't very sure about this game, but as i got into the game more it got funner too. I didn't give it a 5 becaues,
1.) the cussing. If i didn't have cuss words in it i may have given a 5.
You can creat a new person to fight on the battle field, but as far as i know you have VERY limited options, i tried to get the Edit offiers 10th level weopons to try to get something new but it didn't work (i think).the graphics are good. their are alot of levels too. and some of them you have to find out in mousi mode.
Over-all the game is fun!...

Breathtaking

This game, based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms Epic, puts you on the battlefield at the beginning of the fall of the mighty HAN Empire. You can play as a General of one or more kingdoms, WU, WEI and SHU, each with their own weapons and fighting styles. What makes this game great is the mass-combat scenerios-- you can fight against hundreds of soldiers on the battlefield, and clear the way for your troops to move in. Great strategy and fighting game.

A lot more battles

Dynasty Warriors 4 is better than the others of the series. This is because there are many levels, creating a character and being able to name your bodyguards. This one doesn't have a characters set story but takes the person through all of the battles with all the characters. it's kind of hard trying to unlock the side stories. also you can choose what orb element (fire, ice, vorpal, thunder, poision, or blast) the person has. 4 is the highest while 1 is the lowest. a great game.

This game is one of the best games i have ever owned. This game rocks. The graphics are outstanding, their weapons are unbelievable. The story line is perfect. And the rivalry between Lu Bu and Dong Zhou continues with Lu Bu being the best character in the game. With a +60 powered tenth weapon. This game is unbelievable you have to get this game. Believe me if you get it you'll be hooked.

this is one of the best games i have ever played

Upon first getting the game, I was totally wowed. The graphics seem so much better and so does the landscapes. Everything seemed so much cooler, and this lasted. There are lots more events to accomplish mid-stage that makes levels easier to beat, and the added control/leveling of the bodyguards is a nice new feature. After reading through the reviews though, one major question still remains...

This being Dynasty Warriors 4, why can't we get a vs. Mousou mode? Both DW4 and DW3 had vs modes, but most are hardly worth playing when considereing the regualr co-op mousou and free modes. I want to tackle a friend with a whole army riding at my back.

Another downfall that I wanted to point out (many people would hardly consider this a downfall) is that after playing for a long time, I came to realize just how much I get chased. Whenever you get near guards or generals, they focus on YOU and YOU alone. It doesn't seem to help like it did in previous installments to fight alongside your troops. The enemy will just come for YOU. Generals are the worst. They will follow you to the ends of the earth, until you jump off; then they'll go back to beating someone else up. But like I said earlier, many people would find this more pleasurable, it makes your character seem more powerful. I'm just sort of a person that likes to fight alongside others, not go it alone all the time.

All in all though, Dynasty Warriors rocks and hopefully the games keep coming. Wanted to give it 5 stars, but just couldn't mainly because I was still disspointed that there is no VS Mousou mode.

Great Game!

Koei been at it for years and it keeps getting better and better! DW game are great massive battles and armys. You can easily jump right in and start playing. Contarls are simple. Hit the enemy, knock them in the air and hit them back down. When you get stronger one blow kills and new attacks. It has everthing. Battles of open land where you and hundreds of alliles charge into the enermy and fight for ground. Or suicide stands inside castles. Fight for the wall until it gets desparte and make a final stand in the walls. Form 50 on 50, to 1,000 on 1,000, or the insane naman campaine where it's 1,000 on 100,000 literily!!!

The game follows three main family; Shu the pesants, Wu the father and kids, or the massive army of the evil Cao Cao. With other groups throwen in along the way. You fight for land and power until you find yourself the last survier aganists hundreds of enemys fighting despertly until you slowly and painfuly get slain...

There is now a DW 5 yet at $20.00 more I would stay at this one till the price drops. It's not worth just a few more levels and people.

In the game there is horses of differant colors and elephants. Along the way you can also get secret horses. You can also make your own charerters and bodygurds until you slowly rasie them to be gods. Or just use the other 42!

This game is great. T only for people becomeing one with the ground, no blood. The worst word is dam#. 10 is a good age. Lastly it's a great game!!!

Killer Game Lacks Strategy

I enjoyed this game more than any other under the Dynasty Warriors banner. HOWEVER, I find myself still desiring more for my money.

The graphics were fantastic, the voice-overs were excellent, the characters were intriguing, and the game play kept the controller in my hand for a long time. None-the-less, the game play is still just hitting buttons until my thumbs bleed. No thought, no strategy, no intelligence required.

Speaking of intelligence, the A.I. is better, but still dumb. While decemating enemy regiments, nearby troops, that in real life (or even in fantasy) would rush to support their comrades, just stand and stare. Meanwhile, when I myself get trapped and order my own regiments to attack in support they often attack the wrong thing or do exactly what I told them not to.

Finally, the strategy. Oh, I long for a game that takes intelligence to beat! The concept of this game is fantastic! But I want more control. I want to control where my troops are and give orders to flank or retreat. At least it would be nice to control my five body guards and tell them how to work in my direct area seperately.

Despite it's flaws, it's a great game worth investing a little money in. The game's concept is fantastic! Let's hope this company can continue to go forward and work out the kinks. Perhaps the next Dynasty Warriors game will satisfy all of our desires?

Oh, and make sure and check out "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" the book that Dynasty Warriors is based on. In fact, you can find it right here at Amazon.com!

Fun, fun, FUN.

This game is so much cooler than DW3. It still has all the faves like Lu Bu and Zhang He(Vega-like guy). You get more options for bodygaurds and you can even ride elephants. So what in the heck are you waiting for, go out and buy this.
