Thank You Koei

Here are three words that describe this game OH MY GOD! This game ROCKS! And I thought that DW3 was top of the line, but DW4 is even better. There has been a great deal put into storyline, graphics and even gameplay. The only thing that would make this game better would be if it were online too, but believe me it is very good. If you are a fan, or just a casual gamer you will not be disappointed. Thank you Koei!

The Praise! The Kudos! The Accolades!

Koei has done it again! As soon as I saw this I knew I had to play and when I did I wasn't disappointed. Dynasty Warriors 4 is unbelievable in all aspects so I wasn't able to find anything bad about it. The only thing that came as a shock to me were the costumes but I quickly got over that. The gameplay and graphics were outstanding. The controls were smooth and were made so you could use either the analog stick or the control pad so people who hadn't gotten used to the analog stick didn't have to worry. DW 4 incorporated the story of the legendary period in China's history known as The War of the Three Kingdoms and boy did Koei did their homework. Along with the game Koei added what really happened in The War of the Three Kingdoms as well as what happened afterward. They also added a data base that had information on every single general in the game. They added more levels so there was more information on the famous battles. So basically DW 4 was eduactional as well as a kick... [buttocks] game. I fully recommend it to anyone and everyone. And as for those Koei fans who are trading in DW 3 I have one thing to say:Don't. While DW 4 is awesome all of the Dynasty Warrior games are unique and loads of fun so keep every single one. I also recommend all the other games made by Koei.

The Warriors Are Back!

Dynasty Warriors 4 is probably my favourite game right now. I remember when I walked into the store and laid eyes on the second one... I remember playing the third one for the first time... I was completely hooked!! A lot of stuff has changed. I thought Koei really outdone themselves.

You first start out with the kingdoms of Wei, Wu, and Shu. In Wei the only people you can play with are Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, and Xiahou Yuan. For Wu you start off with Sun Jian, Huang Gai, and Sun Shang Xiang. Last, the characters you start with in Shu are Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei.

You pick a character and play in musou mode. As you keep on playing and passing stages, you'll gain and unlock things. You'll have more characters, items, other kingdoms, and you might even get a Tale! But for some characters you'll have to do something other than passing a stage to get.

Kingdom mode allows you to switch characters during musou mode, but it has to be someone from your kingdom. The new edit mode allows you to make your own officer and bodyguard units! All the warriors are back with three new ones. They're Wei's Cao Ren, Wu's Zhou Tai, and Yue Ying of Shu. The weapons are a bit different. They can go up to level 10, but you have to unlock the level 10 weapon. Other new things are the siege weapons and the orbs.

I hope you guys get Dynasty Warriors 4! It's very, very addictive and fun. I can't wait for DW4: Xtreme Legends, though...

Pro's-This game has awsome graphics and a great storyline.Im a fan of the whole series.Only 3 new charecters Tho.One of those charecters are good {Zhou Tai} He is awsome. The maps are better and they have incorperated alot more stages into the game. The weapon system is so smooth. Now all you have to do is get expirience to get the new weapon instead of having to find them. The duel modes are cool but the time 40 seconds is kinda short. The only duel you dont want to get into is With Lu Bu It is extreamly hard when its not on easy{Even getting near this guy,He is located on Hu Lao gate}other than that duels are fun.Alot of the bad charecters from dw3 are improved and some stronger ones are toned down. Some 4th weapons are extreamly hard to get{Hince Lu Bu's},but other than that the weapons are easyier to get than in dw3.Horse fighting has been improved.

Con's-In the harder difficulties your generals die extreamly quick. You need to work fast and have a plan otherwise you can loose very easily expecially on the {Nanman Campaign}.It still takes a while to run somewere its painstaking when you need to save an oficer, but thats all part of the dw4 experience right?Even these cons cannot stop the constent game play of this awsome game!!![.]

Good stuff, good stuff...

If your a fan for fast, intense, RPG games, then this is the one. DW4 has new weapon systems, special harnesses, orbs, and items, edit mode, more characters, and new music. You get exp from killing bosses to level up your weapon, there's up to 10 levels for your weapon. Enhanced maps make the settings better, and the music may sound okay, but hopefully it'll grow on you. orbs let you break blocking enemies, set someone on fire, freeze guys, poison people, add extra or instant death damage, and even strike lightning. musous go by kingdoms, and you do certain things to get new kingdoms(example, beat every kingdom to get Zhang Jiao and his Kindom). New combos grow in number of hits as your weapon level grows. New graphics make attacks look more solid and effective(try Ma Chao's 5th combination, a fast blue energy circle around him with a sound similar to a sword taken from a sheath). New Challenge modes add intensity to the game. Try bridge melee, you can't hurt people, but you knock them off the bridge. Pronunciation is still wrong(Chao Chao, not cow cow! As for Yuan Shao, it's ren shaow, not wuan show!) other than that it's great.
Sorry about typos ^.^

Not a good game

This game is not a good one especially if you own Dynasty Wariors 3. All the battles suck and the weapons are the same the only thing that is different is the uniforms and their faces as well as the battle scenes. This game is not one you should own if you have the third one.

Not As Good As The Third One

I have all the Dynasty Warriors games, and I think that the third one is the absolute best. Dynasty Warriors 3 has all the great characters and is less confusing and less difficult than the 4th one. And for those of you who are all excited about the new "create your own character" thing...DON"T BE. It gives you a total of about 4 choices, "man or woman," "type of weapon"..and you can't use nifty weapons like war fans, just sword or spear, you get to choose clothes..but there are only 3 choices and they're very similar, and you get to choose how your character moves..and those choices are so similar I can't even tell the difference between them. But choosing your bodygaurds is nifty, and you can name them whatever you want. The only other supreme let-down is that you have to fight LuBu VERY early on in the Mushu mode. (for those of you who don't know, LuBu is the hardest enemy to defeat in the entire game.) You no longer pick up weapon boxes on the field, you earn them with experience points, except for the last one, which is hard to get. On the up-side, there are gorgeous new landscapes, better voice actors (thank God!), and you get to do some pretty nifty things, like knocking down towers and fighting ghost enemies. I like Dynasty Warriors 4, but it's sitting on my shelf collecting dust right now while Dynasty Warriors 3 is in my Playstation2.

I started out the series with DW3, and instantly fell in love. I thought I knew what to expect, but this blew me away. The graphics are superior to any Final Fantasy game, and the addition of favorites like Lu Bu and Meng Huo make this an essential addition to the collection. Just when you think they've perfected this game, they add a Custom Character mode. Now if only they woulld put in internet capabilities...
