This game is so cool. Anybody whose played the other DW games should try this one out. An absolute must for old-timers and newbies. Not to mention the improvements.
Pros
1.A seperate spot for harnesses.
2.New officers.
3.The new way to level up your weapon.
4.New officers.
5.A musou mode for each kingdom.
Cons
1.Two officers aren't in this game.
2.They still haven't improved Edit mode.
The best game for EVERYBODY!
My new addiction!!!

This game is awesome. There are some good and bad things that do happen but anyways it great. With the new 3 characters, Zhou Tai does better than the rest. Yue Ying is alright but her voice is a bit annoying. Personally, I don't like Cao Ren because he moves slow except for his musuo attack, he doesnt run that quickly and he looks vertically challenged. Level 10 weapons are tough to get but in some cases easy. They changed the costumes which I think are a big improvement (I hated Sima Yi's little funky hat thingy, but that is just me). They changed the charge attacks and added a jump charge which is pretty cool but kind of useless because most of the time the soldiers will hit you before you hit the ground. They give you different kinds of weapons for each person so no one has the same weapon. The weapon design also changes which i think kicks butt. People have similar but not the same weapons as someone else. There is not a big difference in horse speed but it does change. The music is good except the yellow turban rebellion music which isnt the best thing in the world. The movies are good. There is a wide variety of levels and level locations. I just wish that they would put a few more levels in the daytime because its annoying doing some of the levels at night time when its tougher to see enemies. But anyways, the game is awesome, I suggest you buy it. So now, just have fun playing the game

This Game is pretty tight. It has all the action of Dynasty Warriors 3, plus a lot more. IT has new siege engines. And 3 new characters. (Still think Lu Bu is da bomb!!). I'd rate this game a 4.5, even though they do not have it....
Keeps getting Better and Better!

After playing Dynasty Warriors 3 and XL 3, I thought that it could not get any better. Was I wrong or what? Upon first playing the game I had some dissapointments, such as: lack of Japanese dialogue. That is something that annoyed me, since I had only played the previous games while they were in Japanese, but I got over that.
The coloring of the game, looks slightly drab at first, but that actually enhances the game. It gives it real look. The characters are the same, but they look more Asian. The premise is the same. There are approximately 15 levels per mosou mode for each person this time, vs. 4-5 since last time.
My favorite thing, is the weapon upgrade, because it is based on merit, how you happen to kill a general, certain hits... Also, your bodyguards can be built to vicous capacity, mine have become piranhas, they can be quite helpful when you have a fresh character that you are wanting to build up.
Dynasy Warriors 4 is definately more challenging then its 3 predecessor, with more emphasis on storylines. Only play it, if you are up to the challenge.
Cut and slash-a wonderful blast

This game is great, and it has beautiful open levels. (Lot's of them). This is part rpg and the rest kill kill and more killing.
Anybody can play this game and have fun. It's not just killing enemies,it also has some strategy. Not alot of strategy but it has a lil. Basically you pick a charectar, there are lots of charectars, and you go and fight. This game features great graphics, great gameplay, and great overall fighting.I love this game, and the fact that it has over 7 modes to choose from makes me play it even more. There is also alot of levels so you'll be playing for a while. Overall excelent game but the AI could be better.

This game is pretty good. considering this is 4th game(6th if you count those expansion packs) in the series, it must have something. You are given briefing in each mission, you are to protect your leader and beat up all your enemies.
It can be pretty hard at times, but it's pretty satisfying to go into the crowd of 20 soldiers and start using your special move to beat them up. There is no blood and gore in the game though.
PS2 version I have can slow down and have some problem time to time - when you have too many people in the screen, people starts flashing. This is pretty nasty problem, but it goes away if you move out of the area or you eliminate some enemy soldiers.
It has pretty good sound, decent graphics and interesting story line - interesting especially if you are knowledgeable about the novel Romand of Three Kingdoms. and there are items and characters you collect, so replayability is pretty good.
Even though it's beat em up game, there's enough different technics to each character to get you going for long time.. I highly recommend this game... especially if you have a lot of time on your hand.

Ah. Zhao Yun's loud declaration rends the skies and sends bad guys stumbling backwards. And all 'cause you pressed the R3 button. :D The 'Announcement' feature may not be that much of an addition to the game, but it does come in handy, and it lets you see a little more of the personality in your character.
I've never played the past Dynasty Warriors, but from what I've seen and heard, DW4 is still my favorite, and I don't see the point of backtracking to lesser DW's.
To start;
Graphics aren't amazingly snazzy. (The ground is always flat with smudgy green stuff painted on it, with some pink thrown in for flowers)-but that's not really a big concern when you're character's out there flinging people around on the end of his spear. And there are a few levels where the have thick, brushy fields for your character to run through.
Lots of mountains everywhere in the background, usually discoverd only just as you come upon them, because the perpetual, but thankfully, soft fogs of war tend to cloud them to just blurry silhouttes.
Character animations and appearance are awesome. Each one has a distinct and interesting style, with equally vivid personalities.
The style and attention to detail when it came to characters is much more evident then with background details.
Gameplay is simple, fun and addictive. I mean, who can't admit to getting that sastified feeling when you're character is surrounded by milling bad guys, and all you have to do is press the 'O' button; VOILA! You're character breaks into a lightening and rippling energy decorated attack, spinning and slashing all over while bolts of white hit the ground around where he steps and your controller rattles in your hands.
Not to mention lots of bad guys have fallen. :D
Control set-up is nice, with one button for your characters solid normal attack. Throw in the triangle button, and your character makes his usual moves a bit more deadly (such as: knock enemy into air, jump up and knock enemy back down=major damage)
Also nifty little features like showing you the lifebars of all the people around you, or being able to switch maps mid-fight to let you know how many bad guys are around you.
You're sure to have a favorite Kingdom once you're into the game, because it's just inevitable. :)) There's always one character that'll catch your eye and make you want to play just a little bit longer.
Simple gameplay, fairly good graphics and loads of fun. One day I'll figure out what makes it so addictive; until then, I have to level up the rest of the 42 characters in DW4.

This game is very entertaining, but some of the people are a bit hard, especially Lu Bu, with can kill you without breaking a sweat in 2 moves. 2 players is fun but the map is very confusing and it is easy to get seperated and if one person dies, you both lose.

This game rocks. We (my friends and I) call it "Stress Relief on a CD" After 1 battle, you know why. Where else can you kill 500 people in one battle (about 10-15 mins)? Besides that, there's also a slew of evil, back-stabbing generals to kill as well. If there's a game that really let's you vent, this is it. Buy this game now (on XBox!)
Continues to impress

This game is a great continuation of the series. It has all the things I enjoy about DW4 plus a few new modes which allow for shorter battle sessions. If you like DW4 then you will love this game. A definite buy.
