Awesome!

This game is GREAT! Besides kickass gameplay (particularly the ability to make other drivers crash into walls and other vehicles AND getting REWARDED for doing so), it features kickass songs to go with the driving. Of course there are some songs that aren't quite that great, but a lot of them really help the player get into the game and some songs actually help people do better than they might otherwise do without them.

This is a really fun Game! A blast and addictive! where else could you be encouraged to drive on the wrong side of the road and crash other cars? It has a ton of different events and there is excellent graphics. A very fast paced game and the tracks arent too long to bore you. There are a ton of cars to unlock and a lot of different events and player modes. A no brainer for the PS2. One of the best racing games out there.. Buy, you wont be disappointed.

Don't listen to the players who say this is not a good game. There is lots of fun stuff on it even if you some how you don't like something. I have play this game alot and could play it all day every day no problem. If you have problems with the 20 sec if that load times then I sorry but sometimes putting such cool stuff and graphis in a game it may take a sec. more to load. This is a five star game!! I am also a pickey gamer but I realize what gos into a game as well.

This game is a bit too violent for my taste. I should have researched it more before giving it to my grandsons, who love it.

Burnout Takedown is the best burnout game out there. You have to watch yourself sometimes when your racing, especially when your using BOOST! If you are using your BOOST the higher the chances are you will hit another car or a wall. The best part is the takedowns. You can take out your rivals by hitting them very hard you can also use walls or other vehicles to takedown your rivals. The crash events are very cool too. You can hit ramps or just ram right into the traffic and it will always cause maximum destruction.

Weird, Wild, Wonderful...

One of my few favorite genres of video games has always been racing games. Car, space-aged contraptions, or other, the basic "fun" of a racing game has been, from the beginning of "racing" games, has never been in doubt by "gamers" in general. It's almost as basic a form of video game as is the whole concepts of Pong, Space Invaders, Asteroids, and various first person/third person action/speed 3D experiences. From the earliest days of computer/console gaming, there have been many attempts to put oneself in the "driver's seat." At first, this consisted of the most basic of "racing/car" games, up until the true 3D era when graphics and gameplay began to actually "sim" the whole experience.

This general idea has continued and will so for some time, but there has always been a split in racing games between the "sim" and "arcade" versions. That is, there have, are, and will be games devoted to trying to actually "simulate" the experience of driving actual vehicles. With actual physics and subtle natures of actually controlling a racer. With such games, various fine-touch and detailed driving/flying are front and center. While a lot of purists may prefer such "sims," from the beginning there have also been games devoted to those who don't really CARE about all the details and adjusted specs, and just wanna have some good old plain "arcade" racing fun.

I have played both types of "racing" games and have found pleasure in both, but disappointments in both as well. But if I were to make a choice, given my ever-diminishing limited visual capacities, somewhere along the years, I've settled on a fondness for the "arcade" racer over the "sim." Your desires, capabilities, and interests may lay elsewhere, but for anyone interested more in "arcade" racing, this is a must buy.

There is almost nothing "sim" about this game. Buyer, beware.

The graphics are first rate, and push the limits of the PS2, though I'm sure even ritzy, richie rich PS3 owners will still find true value here. While the game is easy to get into at first, it's one of those that present pretty good challenges along the way in order to win new cars, unlock various treasures, and proceed to enjoyably longer gameplay, as well as continued replayability. Is that a word?

What's so "weird" about this game? Well, in most racing games, one is usually "punished" in some way for reckless driving and damages, this particular title is the exact opposite. The more you drive recklessly, the more damages you add up to your own ride and to others on various roads around the world, the more you advance. You get points, and money, and new cars, and newly unlocked events, all more or less depending on how much you MESS with other vehicles on the road.

It's "wild" because the whole idea here is to drive like a maniac, and try to either outrace (and destroy) other cars on the roads, or just go directly into various short events where you try to cause as much damage as possible to other road-dwellers. With eye-pleasing graphics and equally great sound effects, it becomes almost surreal to intentionally try to get into fantastic crashes, getting points and cash for the worst possible crash pileups and financial damage. While not a drop of blood is ever shown here, as in other Burnouts (and Midtown Madness games on the PC), that's all just part of the general fun. It's all just a "game" after all.

And "wonderful?" Well, what's really wonderful about this game is that it never for a moment pretends to be a "sim" racing game. While the general visuals and sounds equal such in many ways, this is "arcade" car racing (and crashing) and for what it attempts to do, it does almost flawlessly. It is a great idea if you need to ease a bit of stress in your everyday "real" world (whatever that is), and because almost every event you try (as you progress) is saved, this is a great game one can play for 20 minutes, or two or more hours.

The music in this is great, though the CRASH RADIO Disc Jockey can be a bit tiresome and phony, and load screens between various events can become annoying, but overall, this game really rocks. Did I mention the great rockin' music?

Burnout 3 Takedown is already a classic and always will be. It's all about the reckless driving and crashing and has little (but a bit) to do with anything actually related to real-life racing or "sim" and that's what makes it so great. It does what it does and makes no excuses for it. It is a weird, wild, and wonderful arcade racing game which more than exceeds its promises and potential. I would just advise players not to play it for any extended periods right before falling asleep, otherwise your dreams may be rather, ahem, quite disturbing.

A must have for any PS2 OR PS3 owner...

AND LONG LIVE USE OF THE D-PAD, which this game allows!!! RETRO RULES...

Very Addictive and Fun Game!

First of all, I do not own this game. But When I went over to my friend's house we played it the whole time that I was there. This game has many wonderful features, such as the graphics, the courses, and, of course, the cars.
Burnout 3: Takedown has amazing graphics, the cars are realistic, the crashes have awsome special effects, and the race tracks are even better with twists and turns, highly detailed backrounds such as trees and rivers.
The courses of Burnout 3: Takedown are awsome! They have dozens of hidden shortcuts, unexpected turns, and high detail. The tracks have all most everything a person could ask for.
The cars. The most amazing experiance of the game. The game holds vehicles for beginners, or for the masters of the road. With astounding paint effects and great detail, these cars come in every style anyone could dream of.
All in all, I think this game is probably one of the best racing games ever invented! So give it a test drive, you're in for the ride of your life...

Edge of your seat fun!

This is the kind of game that everyone can play. from the occasional gamer looking for a fun arcade style racer, to the die-had gamer looking for a challenge. Burnout 3 is a game anyone with a pulse should love. The sense of speed is amazing; coupled with some gorgeous crash mechanics, and a roster of cars ranging from the ordinary to the super, the game has plenty to offer.
