It's a great game for $20...putting it simply...you race and you wreck everyone thats racing you...the game would be more fun if you could customize your own cars but there are only preset cars like in all other racing games...the game is a prettey decent length...about the only drawback to the game is the music...only like 3 good songs...like "I wanna be Sedated by the Ramones"...a plus side is you can always turn off the music

Best racing game I've ever played

This is the fastest and funnest racing game we've ever played.

It may not have simulated vehicles by specific manufacturers, as in Gran Turismo, but that doesn't matter here because the fun comes in the super-fast racing and battling.

As the name Takedown implies, a lot of this game is about taking your opponents out - forcing them off the road, into other cars, etc...

The crashes in the game are well-simulated. So much so that there's a Crash Mode where all you do is see how much damage your car can cause by crashing into other vehicles.

Very fun game with high replay value!

P.S. If you are into cheat codes, there don't seem to be any for this game. You have to win the different challenges to unlock vehicles, events, and locations.

Sweet game and awesome graphics for $20!!!

I love this game. My favorite thing to do is road rage which is where you try to run people off of the road by slamming into them. It is cool because when someone is right next to you and you are headed into oncoming traffic and a semi is in it. you try to push the person over and they will get taken out by the semi. It goes so fast that you can hardly see it, but you can hear it. One cool thing about it is that when yo uhit a semi you blow up. Road rage is a lot better if you have gameshark game codes for unlimited boost. I can't seem to get my codes to work for it anymore though. Overall it is a great game!

For all of you out there who love destruction.. Who love seeking sweet revenge on someone who knocks you out of a lap, or tosses your sorry butt into the drink; this is the game for you. One of the basic foundations of this game is destruction. Even when you're knocked around, beaten down, crushed, humiliated and...etc, you gain points with the craziness of your crash.

There are a few different race modes. Some of which can get a little tedious, but it's all well worth it. It's a bit challenging, sometimes it seems like there is no way you'll be able to make that time limit, or create enough damage, but as you play, you will find the way.

It's extremely easy to sit down with the controller in your hand and look up at the clock, four hours down the road. It's a very addictive game, but is great fun.

I would recommend this game to anyone who is a racing fan. Without a question, a 5-star game.

like videogame HEAVEN!

This game is pretty much the only game I would give five stars to. It is just so unbelievably awesome! I thought CRASH was fun, but then they hit me out of the blue with the amazingly fun and accessible ROAD RAGE. If you are unsure whether or not to buy this game, let me help you: BUY it. Now. Please?

Oh and P.S. My highest ROAD RAGE score was 39 takedowns. I would like to hear about other people's high scores :-)

What a game!

I have been a fan of this game ever since playing against my buddy on my vacation in Colorado last year. Whether you're interested in pure speed and competative racing, or taking your opponents out in road rage...it's all FUN! In addition, you can just cause unbelievable mayhem with crash mode....where the whole object is to cause as much destruction as possible. This game lasts a LONG time.....so you have a lot to do, it never gets boring........I mean, there are like 50 cars and trucks waiting for you..if you can win them.

Good but something's missing....

This is a really cool game. What game do you know that is just begging you to crash that car into that truck and see how big of an explosion you could make? I have gotten up to 104 crashes on the demo and real game. My top for demo was 103 and the real game was 104. Yes I am a good player on it considering I beat a guy with a high score of 132. Good game, okay on the music, awsome graphics, awsome sound when I hook it up for surround sound and pump up da base, and over all just a awsome game.

First off I don't know who put that stinkin rating on the game cause the one I got's rated T not M. I dont know what the xbox version's like thisso i'll tell you the ps2 version. The game is a sim (simulation if you didn't know, and if you didn't know you're way to young and dense to play this game). When you race, you have many options like regular, road rage, time trial, elimination, sprint, face off, and grand prix. You also have 100 crash levels but i'll get to those later. To unlock all of the cars and win all the awards, you have to go into the Burnout 3 World Tour where you try to get gold in everything as events are unlocked all over the world you eventually have to leave the USA and go to Europe and the Far East. While racing, you can takedown a rival or take other risks to grow boost on your ride. Takedowns are when youget a rival driver to crash either into a wall, off a cliff, or just about anythind that gets him, even though he comes back in the race after the crash. You can also crash, but you can use aftertouch after you crash to try to get another car, their are a bunch of other things about racing, but i'll let you get to that on your own.

In crash mode, the idea is to crash into a something after getting certain pick ups and watching a huge crash of cars come, exploding your wreck and maybe getting a car or some pick ups with aftertouch, then waitin for the clock to run dry. Your score is given and you see if you got anything good. Once crashing enough times, you can get some hard heavy weights like a SUV, truck cab, bus, and firetruck. to top it off? Crash mode is also part of the world tour. A great soundtrack including songs from Rise Against, My Chemical Romance, Silent Drive, and Sugarcult, even though the lead song is The Lazy Generation by the FUps. Youcan take your action online, or multiplayer This game is definitely worth the money. Mild Language and Mild Violence are on the rating but who really cares about that? Yes Expedited shipping is worth it. And for th kid's review on the front, my top road rage was 103 takedowns with a tuned super on silverlake southbound

Weird, Wild, Wonderful...

One of my few favorite genres of video games has always been racing games. Car, space-aged contraptions, or other, the basic "fun" of a racing game has been, from the beginning of "racing" games, has never been in doubt by "gamers" in general. It's almost as basic a form of video game as is the whole concepts of Pong, Space Invaders, Asteroids, and various first person/third person action/speed 3D experiences. From the earliest days of computer/console gaming, there have been many attempts to put oneself in the "driver's seat." At first, this consisted of the most basic of "racing/car" games, up until the true 3D era when graphics and gameplay began to actually "sim" the whole experience.

This general idea has continued and will so for some time, but there has always been a split in racing games between the "sim" and "arcade" versions. That is, there have, are, and will be games devoted to trying to actually "simulate" the experience of driving actual vehicles. With actual physics and subtle natures of actually controlling a racer. With such games, various fine-touch and detailed driving/flying are front and center. While a lot of purists may prefer such "sims," from the beginning there have also been games devoted to those who don't really CARE about all the details and adjusted specs, and just wanna have some good old plain "arcade" racing fun.

I have played both types of "racing" games and have found pleasure in both, but disappointments in both as well. But if I were to make a choice, given my ever-diminishing limited visual capacities, somewhere along the years, I've settled on a fondness for the "arcade" racer over the "sim." Your desires, capabilities, and interests may lay elsewhere, but for anyone interested more in "arcade" racing, this is a must buy.

There is almost nothing "sim" about this game. Buyer, beware.

The graphics are first rate, and push the limits of the PS2, though I'm sure even ritzy, richie rich PS3 owners will still find true value here. While the game is easy to get into at first, it's one of those that present pretty good challenges along the way in order to win new cars, unlock various treasures, and proceed to enjoyably longer gameplay, as well as continued replayability. Is that a word?

What's so "weird" about this game? Well, in most racing games, one is usually "punished" in some way for reckless driving and damages, this particular title is the exact opposite. The more you drive recklessly, the more damages you add up to your own ride and to others on various roads around the world, the more you advance. You get points, and money, and new cars, and newly unlocked events, all more or less depending on how much you MESS with other vehicles on the road.

It's "wild" because the whole idea here is to drive like a maniac, and try to either outrace (and destroy) other cars on the roads, or just go directly into various short events where you try to cause as much damage as possible to other road-dwellers. With eye-pleasing graphics and equally great sound effects, it becomes almost surreal to intentionally try to get into fantastic crashes, getting points and cash for the worst possible crash pileups and financial damage. While not a drop of blood is ever shown here, as in other Burnouts (and Midtown Madness games on the PC), that's all just part of the general fun. It's all just a "game" after all.

And "wonderful?" Well, what's really wonderful about this game is that it never for a moment pretends to be a "sim" racing game. While the general visuals and sounds equal such in many ways, this is "arcade" car racing (and crashing) and for what it attempts to do, it does almost flawlessly. It is a great idea if you need to ease a bit of stress in your everyday "real" world (whatever that is), and because almost every event you try (as you progress) is saved, this is a great game one can play for 20 minutes, or two or more hours.

The music in this is great, though the CRASH RADIO Disc Jockey can be a bit tiresome and phony, and load screens between various events can become annoying, but overall, this game really rocks. Did I mention the great rockin' music?

Burnout 3 Takedown is already a classic and always will be. It's all about the reckless driving and crashing and has little (but a bit) to do with anything actually related to real-life racing or "sim" and that's what makes it so great. It does what it does and makes no excuses for it. It is a weird, wild, and wonderful arcade racing game which more than exceeds its promises and potential. I would just advise players not to play it for any extended periods right before falling asleep, otherwise your dreams may be rather, ahem, quite disturbing.

A must have for any PS2 OR PS3 owner...

AND LONG LIVE USE OF THE D-PAD, which this game allows!!! RETRO RULES...
