Really Great

This game is really differnet from anyother racing games. When in other games you lose if you crash, in this game you actually get points and money for how much damage you caused. This game can be played over for hours and hours nonstop. And with the online capability and multiplayer its a great game to play with friends.

Very fun to play

Took a while for me to get this game but I regret every moment of hesitation. This game is extremely fun to play. It is almost comparable to the feeling you got when the first time you playedd Gran Turismo! Overall the approach of knocking your opponents out of the game or being knocked out is graet.

WOW! kicks gran turismo far, far away...

when my brother kame bak from a friends house after playing this game, he was babbling on about it for hours. unfortunatly i hadnt been paying attention to waht he was saying, and this just isnt the easiest game to get in japan (no idea y this isnt popular here) the graphiks are just astounding, if u kan only koncentrate on things with good musik, get this game, it has some of the best. (some of the bands are, my chemical romance, autopilot off, bouncing souls, franz ferdinand, motion city soundtrack, the fups, new found glory, pennywise, and these are just off the top of my head, i think there are 40+ songs) which brings me to one if not the only negative point. there is no musik in multiplayer mode!! i have to say this had me upset for a while! but in the heat of a battle, i guess ur supposed to forget about the musik. i really kannot believe such an amazing game exists, i kould play this for hours longer than i kan play vice city or unreal tournament. after playing this i just kannot play gran turismo nemore definite buy!!!!

Overhyped...

The reviews are in, and what they say is that Burnout 3 is the most incredible racing game ever made. What they don't say, is how it is rigged, the computer cheats, and vehicles are thrown at you for the hell of things. The action is intense, furious, and if you can keep your eye on the car, it is pretty fun gameplay mixed with incredible graphics and abysmal, I repeat, ABYSMAL in-game sound. But the best racer ever it is not.
Burnout 3 is all about speed, speed, and more speed. Your car blazes through each course. (Or crashes through each course, depending on how many cheap shots the computer wants to take at you.) This game game rivals F-Zero GX in speed, but not in overall quality. The artificial intelligence, and the lack of originality, are some of the poorest productions on a system. Oh, plus the dreadful music.
New features are introduced this time around, most notably being takedowns, where you do your best to bring your opponents down using a variety of different techniques, like slamming them into a wall. This is awesome to witness and pull off. Oh, at least for a couple of minutes.
The sound is the worst in any game that I have. I think Pong does game music more justice than this garbage. But wait, Pong doesn't have music! Well, nothing is better than this. Punk from terrible bands, except for the one Jimmy Eat World track, are mixed around like waste in a toilet. No rap anywhere, pathetic bands, and even worse song to game matches are all you need to turn the sound OFF. Somebody do me a favor and kill that "announcer" while you're at it, will ya?
Here's the bottom line. Burnout 3 is fun, if not impossible due to cheating shot constantly at the player. If you like racing, give this game a shot. It is hard to say stay away, but it is hard to recommend this standard and in some ways, very bad game, either.

I bought this on 9/8 and started playing it is by far the best Burnout yet! I am a huge fan of Burnout 2 and saw this and jumped on it, I've been playing it all night! The graphics are far superior, the accidents are more realistic, there are over 60 vehicles, and alot more tracks/ways to play. I have been playing for 12 hours straight and haven't even begun to use this in all the differents ways you can.
If you played and liked Burnout 2 you HAVE to get Burnout 3, you will not regret it!

Buyer Beware

I have been a long time fan of the Burnout games and this one could have been the best.....but I must say I have put Burnout 2 in a few times since I bought this one....The soundtrack is terrible....The worst of guitar bands you've never heard of....I wish they had left the generic music from Burnout 2 in there..It was much better...I, and many other buyers have been unable to play online at all, regardless of how we configure our ports and firewalls. Rent it, don't waste your money.

Burnout 3 is the best game I've ever played in my life.
I like the crashing, and how you can win all the cars and trucks,
and all the explosions. I like how the cars look so realistic.
Burnout 3 is a great game. You should buy it now!

A racing game that even your friends will play

A few years ago, when the PS2 was first released, I played a lot of Gran Turismo 3. The problem was, I couldn't get my friends to play it much, because they just weren't really "car guys." GT3 is about, well, racing, and all of the skills that that sport entails: drifting, braking, shifting, finding the apex of each corner, et cetera. You try to shave fractions of a second from your lap time. To my friends, this was difficult and, more importantly, it was boring. Often they preferred just attempting "assassinations," which meant taking a turn not with the intent of rounding it, but instead with the intent of broadsiding their opponents and slowing them to a near-stop. But that was difficult to orchestrate, as it required perfect timing. So I enjoyed GT3, but it was mostly a solo game.

That was all before there was Burnout 3.

Burnout 3 is EXACTLY the game my friends wanted. It's about crashing and making your opponents crash, which is much more fun than some tedious racing simulation. Why spend hours memorizing the idiosyncracies of a track and a car when you can just bash everyone else to oblivion -- and get rewarded for your work with boost! Rock on! The fact is, not everyone wants to corner like Michael Schumacher. But EVERYONE likes ramming people off the road, or into trams, buses, pillars, and other stationary and moving objects, accompanied by the gratifying crunch of steel and glass.

Burnout 3 boasts many different play modes, but the two best are Road Rage and the Crash events. Road Rage is sort of a race, except the real goal is not to cross a finish line, but rather to take down as many other cars as possible before your own car is smashed beyond driveability. It pays to be aggressive, but if you get too aggressive, you just end up crashing all the time with nothing to show for it. This mode requires a lot of skill to be good at, and yet is very rewarding even for beginners.

The Crash events involve either one or two players, with the goal of inflicting as much damage as possible at a busy intersection. After you launch your car into the traffic, the computer pans over the scene and adds up the dollar amount of damage done. A claims adjuster's nightmare, but it's a heck of a lot of fun for everyone else. If you have a hard time getting a gold trophy in one of these events, it usually just means you need to change your approach (for example, skip a ramp even though it seems like you might need to use it).

Of course, Burnout 3 also boasts some events that really are just races. But these are less fun, as GT3 does that job better (with licensed cars and real-world racetracks). No, Burnout 3 is at its best when you are chasing down other cars, looking for just the right chance to swerve hard into a fender, knocking your enemy over the edge for a signature takedown, or into a tanker truck, resulting in a massive, realistic explosion. Pull that off, and I guarantee that even people who aren't into cars will be grinning from ear to ear.

If you're looking for a perfect racing simulation experience, Burnout 3 is not your game. But if you are the kind of person who has seen the police car pileup near the end of The Blues Brothers more times than he can count, buy this game IMMEDIATELY. Then clear your calendar, because you will be glued to your PS2 for the indefinite future.

Best Graphics I've ever seen!!!!!

This game is my 2nd favorate I've ever played! The graphics are mind blowing, one time in party crash mode I crashed as usual and to my amazement a car came along swirved hit a taxi barrel rolled hit a moving van then the moving van backfliped and landed on a 18 wheelers flatbed is that amazeing or what!and I also like that if somebody slams you into a wall you just use the aftertouch feature and slam them into a 19 foot high barrel roll strait into a semi truck, now that's what I call revenge!!! and I love coop. party crash I've even found a dirty little trick that lets you earn lots of money, first you find another player and put them on the other controller then you give them precise directions to not take the jump then tell them to head strait into the first semi or RV that they see then tell them how to aftertouch(if they don't already know)and tell them to hit any car that's still driving(if the jump and everything came of right there shouldn't be many)and to then smash there own car into anything that's still standing. The highest score I got was around $125 grand.I also love that any money you earn goes to unlocking new things nomatter where you got it.And it's online capeable now that sounds fun. That's all I've got to say for this game.

Pure fun

Borrowed this from by brother-in-law last night, gave it back this morning.

This is because I knew that I have to have my own copy. This is the best racing GAME (not a driving simulator). It's also the fastest racing game on PS2. It is entirely unrealistic.

If you want realism, get in your car and stand in 1 hr. of rush hour traffic every morning, like I do. That's as real as it gets :)

For digital driving fun - get this game. I just joined the "Greatest Hits" list and is priced accordingly.
