Burnout has been one of the most suprising video game series ever since the release of the original Burnout nearly 3 years ago. The combination of high-speed racing and the ability to create some serious havoc when you crash has made both Burnout and Burnout 2: Point of Impact suprise hits. Now that the duties of the Burnout series have been passed down from the now-defunct Acclaim Games to the hands of EA (Electronic Arts)Games, the question of what would happen with future volumes in the series is answered with Burnout 3: Takedown.
Takedown takes a few old things that have been Burnout standards and adds a few lovely new twists.
One such is the Boost Meter, which fills whenever you make smart and slick driving moves during the race like nearly missing other cars, drifting (taking a curve or turn without gas/braking and leting your momentum carry you through it), driving in oncoming traffic, catching air off huge hills, and causing other racers to crash, which is now referred to as a Takedown. Now the meter is available to use all race long as long as you make sure that you fill it, whereas in the previous games you had to fill it completely to use it.
Another new twist is called Aftertouch, which is like Bullet Time for a crash. The instant you crash, you can go into a slow-mo crash mode and use the analog stick to direct your wreck to hit any other racer's car, causing a Takedown. The only downside is that if you take a racer down, that racer is going to go gunning for you to take YOU down.
Several new modes are added to the experience as well, including Road Rage (use your car to commit as many Takedowns as possible within a time limit), Eliminator races (Racers in last place is eliminated, natch), A fun new Crash Mode (try to create huge pile-ups and score serious cash), Special Event Races, Face-Off races to win new cars, Grand Prix races and more.
And some of the crashes you cause (or get caught in) are lovely to see (I had one where I literally made a car crash into the top of a very tall streetlight)and the graphics show that EA definitely took the ball and ran for a touchdown (or should I say Takedown) with it. If you want to have a little fun or release a little road rage while waiting for Gran Turismo 4, then get ready for a little Takedown!
A complete crash-out!

Burnout 3 is highly better than the previous two particularly because EA games did this one and they are one of the greatest game industries. The objects of this game are 1) to win races and earn medals across the world. 2) To take out your opponents by ramming them off the road. 3) To make the biggest crash you possibly can and see how much $ damage you've caused. The cars are standard: compact, coupe, sports, super; and the graphics are dazzling, especially the special effects like when you're going fast and the screen gets blurry. The all-new Impact Time is one of the sweetest features in the game; you get to navigate your crash and steer your car, great for aftertouch takedowns. I've searched and searched and can find absolutely no flaws in this game. It's overall a greating racing/crashing game that's very fun and addicting. Enjoy! :)
Best Racing Game Ever. Period. The End. Say No More.

I must say, this game is a pleasant surprise. I normally dislike any form of car game. They're just...boring. That's not what car games should be. They should be fast, and furious. Well, this is that.
GRAPHICS: 10
The graphics in this game are simply great. Even though you are blazing through the levels at 200+ MPH, you still see everything from highly detailed cars and other traffic, to great lighting effects from the sun. The real pleasantries are the crashes. When a car crashes, the fly around and fall apart, although not always realistically, always fun to look at. Also, the game has very good partical effects like sparks and dust that really makes the game more entertaining.
CONTROLS: 10
The controls are very easy: X is acceleration, square is brake, R1 is boost. Simple, but it is all that's needed for a game like this.
AUDIO: 9
The music in the game is very good, and is always entertaining. But where the game lacks is in the announcer. His name is Stryker, and at first, his is very entertaining. But as the game goes on, and once you've heard all of his sayings, it gets old quickly. But overall, the sound is good, but nothing overly amazing.
GAMEPLAY: 10
The game excels in this category. The game rewards you for racing very aggressive. You start each race with a small boost meter, but as you race, it fills up. Your boost meter also gets bigger for taking down other racers. Whenever you takedown another racer, your boost meter multiplier increases and fills up. Every time you crash though, your meter's multiplier Your meter also fills up by racing aggressively, like racing in the oncoming lane, or ramming and bumping into other racers.
Whenever you crash, you have the opportunity to apply "aftertouch." If you press R1 while crashing, you can move the stick to make your car move slightly in a certain direction. This is so you can try and takedown other cars with your crash. Very innovative.
There are many modes, including Race, Crash (in which you try to do as much monetary damage as possible) and Road Rage (in which you try and takedown a certain number of cars before your car takes too much damage).
There is a World Tour mode which lets you earn medals while racing around the world. After completing each even, you earn Burnout Points or money that, when they reach certain levels, gives you more cars.
Also (yeah, there's more), you can earn lots of what I call, "mini things." These include newspaper articles, takedown trophies, and signature takedowns (which are achieved when you perform a takedown under certain conditions). The amount of content in this game is very impressive, with 67 vehicles that you can unlock. After about three hours, I was only 6 or 7 percent complete, so the game is very long.
Replay Value: 10/10
This is the most addictive game I've ever played. I stayed up to 5 a.m. without realizing it, and now there is a huge mark on my thumb where the X button was. Any game that causes this has tons of replayability, and it does. This game will be one of the most active racers in your collection, guaranteed..
TILT: 10
This is one of the most entertaining games I have ever played. My thumbs are extremely sore from jamming the control stick and acceleration button.
OVERALL: 10/10
This is a great, extremely fun, game. I encourage everybody to purchase this game, as you won't be disappointed.
Burnout 3, you wont regret it...

Graphics(9/10)Great realistic graphics, but highly "pixely" enviorment... (Don't get me wrong, the graphics are amazing! but if you stop the car and look on an object you can see it's low detailed... (the car is highly detailed)
Soundtrack (3/10) The soundtrack is stupid low quality metal bands!!!!!!
Fun!!(10/10) This game is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE and never stops being fun.
Multiplayer (6/10)
When playing splitscreen multiplayer, the game is a little (but only a little) Frame by Frame... (and the slow-mo crashes don't work in multy player) But it's still good!
Control (10/10)/(6/10)
The driving controlls may appear to be to simple for pro racing gamers, but for simple new drivers, this is simple and user-friendly driving controls!
Overall (9/10)
I highly recomend to buy this game, for pro drivers, or new drivers, Kids, Adults and mostly everyone!
Addictive and totally fun!

I am not the best video game car driver but I love this game. Though some of the circuits and crash scenarios I was able to gain some much needed practice. The pre-race, pre-event tutorials are very helpful though after playing it a few times it gets tedious. Graphics on this game are really impressive which exceeded my expectations. Earning points and new cars on here isn't super easy but it isn't so hard you give up on trying.
I recommend this to people who like racing/car games like the GT series and Underground. This might be a little less realistic in terms of handling and whatnot but it's really great to get practice with.
Destructive Goodness for 20 bucks!

Burnout 3 is the fastest racing game I have ever played, and it beats the crap out of Gran Turismo Four. The racing is fast and the graphics are supreme. Crash mode is a blast, and Road Rage is even better.
Pros: Great graphics
Gameplay is awesome
Music reigns supreme
It's plain fast.
Cons: Gets very frusterating and hard at times.
Five overall.

This game is so much fun and there's is a reason to play the single player mode along with multiplayer because you can slow down time to control your crashing vehicle unlike multiplayer...for obvious reasons. This game is not as hard or frustrating as burnout 2 or Midnight club 2(annoying but good game).
Crash mode was like a puzzle in Burnout 2 by having to crash your car in the rite place to score most points but in this game there're money icons and x4 or 2 so getting gold is not hard, crash mode is more fun to me.

this game is the first game of the year thats so perfect, its undescribable. There are 0 bugs that i've found, the only thing i've found to be somewhat annoying, is that the online ranking are all messed up because of people who cheated using gameshark. the single player game is so addictive that i found myself playing into the morning, and then feeling bad when i put the controller down to goto sleep. I have yet to unlock everything but it is only a matter of time, its so fun unlocking things, there are so many things to unlock you basically get an award for everything you win.
the online mode is fantastic, i find myself LOL-ing everytime i play a race, road rage is the funnest, although i don't see many games for it. I remember the night after i got the game, i had a crash server set up that i would change the crash location every game of 3 crashes, my server was so popular i didn't turn it off until it was empty. I even had regulars. The next night i set up a road rage, and got pretty angry, i mean this one guy kept using the same car, every race, and got his team to win everytime. I helped make my team win by taking him out after i was already eliminated. fun stuff.
the 2 player split screen multiplayer is great, there are so many tracks, so much to do, its insane. I haven't had so much fun with my sister/friends since burnout 2 came out.
out of everything in this game the only complaint i have about it is the lack of the ability to see the race replays, i liked this in burnout 2, but it being missing, makes me miss out on cool things the other players did, although there are no race replays, the game is still jam-packed with replayability, this game will last long in my collection.
Blazingly Fast

This game is great! It is what every racing game should be and more. Fast action, cool cars, wild tracks and one funny in-game DJ make it more fun than other games out there. Add to that many different modes of gameplay (Crash mode being a personal favorite) and you have a game that manages to please a wide range of audiences.
The sense of speed in this game is what makes it stand out from the pack. The edges of the screen blur and other drivers whip past you at unreal speeds. Weaving in and out of trafic, drifting around corners and taking out other drivers adds to the excitement...and ultimately to your score. The learning curve is almost non-existent and in game tutorials make is easy to play right out of the box. Add to this intuitive and easy to manipulate controls, buttery smooth framerate, sweet graphics and sleek cars and you have one heck of a winning combination.
Many different tasks, races, crahs junctions and takedown races await you, in fact in only 3 hours of playing I have only gotten 16 of the more than 100 medals that the game offers for completing different tasks and challenges.
I dont normally play racing games (one look at my reviews will tell you that) but this game is one that I am extremely happy that I purchased. The sense of speed, simplicity of control and awesome graphical quality make this game of the best in any genre. Simply put: Burnout 3: Takedown is one of the BEST games that you can buy. No rental necessary, just add it to your list and purchase it as soon as possible.
WOW! Is this fast or what!!

I've seen my share of racing games, and Burnout 3 takes them all, puts them in headlock and give them major noogies. The speed of the game is what amazes me. I loved Gran Turismo for what it is, THE racing simulator, but Burnout is simply THE racing GAME! It blasts along faster than my eyes can follow, sparks, dust, paint and tires fly in crashes, and you fight for every race, every time. I love it! As I've only had the game for two days I have not experienced all that it has to offer, but I'm glad I bought it. GET IT GET IT GET IT!!! You will not be sorry, this is the best arcade style racing game for the PS2 to date, everything else....gets left behind.
