I think the title says it all. I am new to SWG and can't relate to them that have played this game from the beginning but when you spend that much time playing a game online then you must have no social, religious, or personal life of any kind. Sad!
I am however, a vetern of other great online games and I can say that this game made me shy away from it since it's initial release. Why? I read that it was not user friendly for nobo's such as me and if you were a nob then you may never get off the ground with your charactor unless you had friends in high places if you know what I mean.
That is not fair in any game and the reason why these so called vets are so upset at Lucus Arts is because they can't stand that they changed their game into a more user-friendly online game like Guild Wars, War Craft which by the way are a lot better games than this but I personaly love this game in what I have seen of it so far from this starter kit.
If you are new or interested in purchasing this game don't let them scare you off-let them state their points and move on because you'll have soooo much fun in this game and heck, if all the vets leave then we nobo's have the whole game to our selves to advance our profile and reclaim what has been left behind by them to make it better than ever!
As far as I'm concerned, if you have to make a game complicated to make it a great game then you need to get a life because your just wasting your life away doing so!
Give it a try

Star Wars Galaxies was once a fantastic game with thousands of players and much scope in the game to customise your character to exactly what you want. Now however the game has been changed to be much more simple and is now aimed at younger people and teenagers rather than adults. I urge you to download the 10 day trial on the offical website and give it a try. It really is a great game regardless of the fact that it used to be even better.
Well worth the cost and monthly subxcriptions.
Email me, smakerjack@hotmail.com, for adivce on the game and servers if you need any. I'd love to help. Thank you.
Better than ever

I want to start by saying don't beleive most of the post here there the same 117 disgruntled posters that troll the forums. the new experince is very ingaging and will keep you entertained for hours. Combat was just upgraded into more of a fast paced combat that is rather fun. Give the 10 day trial a go and if you don't like it then you didnt waste your money. Please don't listen to all these post that havnt even givin the new experince a try. there just disgruntled vets.
Let's play some SWG

I really enjoy the game. I've been playing since SWG came out and have been there through all the changes, updates and expansions. One reason Im leaving this review is because it is a real exciting game now - and Im tired of hearing all the players complain. I really dont believe SOE or LucasArts wants to make a game that ppl hate - COME ON ...IT'S STAR WARS...lets have some FUN.

Although the New Game "Enhancements" (NGE) was supposed to make the game more "balanced" and more "Star Warsy" it did neither. Back when the game was good, Jedi was an honored profession, terribly hard to get, now anyone can be a jedi from teh very start. Crafting used to be a very big part of this game, now crafters and merchants are poor because of the in-balance of loot to crafted products. If you are thinking about buying this game, I sincerely suggest you do not. If you wish to purchase this game for use with SWGEmu ([...]) than but a used one. That's all i have to say.
Regards
Ignore the bitter "old-schoolers" who love to complain about SWG

This game is fun. All the negative reviews are coming from bitter "old-timers" who are upset that the game was overhauled into something different (but still quite fun for those with an open mind). But of course, MMORPG geeks are notorious for being obsessive cry-babies...so why am I surprised?
If you are interested, just buy the starter pack for $20 and try it out free for a month. You might be suprised at how fun the game is.
still a good game

Star wars galaxies has just gotten a whole lot more fun in my opinion.the game has progressed from a simple point and click into an involved gaming experience.where you once just sat back, the new combat and quests actually immerse you into the world by forcing you to be aware of your surroundings.you are now able to feel a part of your character by actually accomplishing quests instead of a faceless and boring grind of thoughtless creatures.sure there are bugs to work-same as any other game, but contrary to what some people are saying,i never had any sort of problem that could not be fixed and i always received assistance.i have played this game since pre cu and complainers will always be present since some feel the world revolves around them.this has become a game where people of all ages can start in and enjoy themselves.
SWG playing it, is living in the Galaxy far far away

This game has brought to me a lot of fun times, i have made great friends, its the kind of game that if oyu are a star wars fan you will enjoy, they have just implemented a new system that it is a lot easier to get on and play even if you havent had any expirience in this kind of games, you can have a guild , go up in space, meet most of the Star wars characters and interact with them.
give it a try and see what you think

I am a Veteran that has played SWG from launch, and I'm going to do my best to give you an objective review of the NGE (New Game Experience) that went live a few weeks ago.
Yes, it's quite a change. The newbie area is done really well, giving players a chance to fly with Han Solo in the Falcon and really feel like you're a part of the SW Universe. The Tansarii Station (the noob "island") is done well with particular quests for each profession (Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, Jedi, Officer, Trader, Entertainer, Commando, Spy, and Medic), and it gives players a chance to interact with other people just starting out instead of dumping them into the real game environment with nothing. The controls are totally different than before, and it DOES take some getting used to, but I personally think it makes combat a lot more fun. I don't know why people were so attached to the old system; I mean, who the hell likes spamming one special over and over again? And auto-target meant anyone with a speed hacking program would easily win in PvP. Well, not anymore. Too bad for those exploiters.
Moving on, something I would have really liked to have seen implemented right away is a full compliment of Profession-specific quests, all the way from level 1 to level 90. Unfortunately, SOE only has Quests for levels 1-30 right now, but each major patch is supposed to bring between 10-20 new levels of quests for players to do. I'm a level 80 Smuggler right now, and the grind does get tougher at higher levels...but what MMO doesn't have insanely long level-up periods at higher levels?
Anyway, you probably don't want a massively intricate review of this game, so I'll give you a bottom line: If you like Star Wars and you're thinking of trying the game out, try it out. Don't listen to veterans that are mad at you new people because you get a cool option to call a ship anywhere on a planet to travel (they're jealous, including me!). Hell, you don't even have to listen to me, if you don't want to. But if you like Star Wars and you're tired of fantasy-based MMORPGs, SWG still retains a certain charm that I still can't put my finger on. SOE is moving in the right direction with the NGE, and I can only imagine that things will continue to get better as time goes on. Now that there are only 9 professions instead of 32, the developers will have a lot more time to dedicate to new content. Maybe in the next year we'll see Hoth? Or maybe we'll get AT-ATs! Or maybe even real Smuggling for Smugglers!
Any way you cut it, SWG is still worthwhile. Yes, it's got its minuses, just like anything else on the market right now, but people voting 1-star are just upset. Try it out for yourself and make your own decision. :)
Hope that's helpful!
