As Real As it Gets!

I won't waste time telling you the specifics of how to play. I just want to say that this game makes you feel like you are actually in the movie! I am a huge LOTR fan, and this game is completely awesome! If you are not a hardcare gamer, you can play it on the easy level and you wont get too frustrated and give up. Not a big learning curve on this game either. For more of a challange, there are normal and hard levels also. I love how you can go back and play each segment with all the different characters. The game starts with the prologue in the first movie, and proceeds from there with movie clips woven into the game. You even get to fight as Isildur in the opening scene and watch him cut the ring from Sauron's hand. Gameplay is also excellent on its own merits, and so it's not just another gimmick based on the movie. I can't believe I waited so long to buy it... this is a *must own*!!!!

Follows the movie and the book very well. Very well done.

This is a great keeper for the Playstation 2. It's probably overlooked because it's a game based on a movie and a book (games based on movies usually suck), and it's short. But I think it's one of the best games of 2002. You can play as either Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli. Each charecter has his own way of fighting. Aragorn is more of a normal hero, Legolas is fast but not very powerful, and Gimli is slow, but extremely tough. This is a hard game. Don't think that this is a walk in the park. I have yet to beat the last level. However, it is EXTREMELY fun. It's a simple 2d style gameplay (hack and slash) with great 3d graphics. And there are LOTS of enemies. When they said that there is 10,000 orcs in Helm's Deep, they might've put 10,000 orcs in the game version of Helm's Deep. They just keep coming! Also, the graphics are some of the best I've seen on the PS2. Very Mark Of Kri like. This is a great game. Go out and buy it. It has lots and lots of replay value.

Fun for awhile, but too short and repetitive

This game is very fun to watch and the graphics are great. I found it to be too easy and short. I beat the game in only a few days playing very casually. I didn't bother with the bonus levels because they were very stupid and repetitive. Definately a great game to rent because you can beat it in the few days you have rented it.

Stunningly Entertaining

I'm not going to claim that the game is the best ever, but it has to be close... darn close. Thoroughly engaging, beautiful graphics, great interviews with the actors who provided the voices, nice access menu, good controls. I love the way that the game has been fluidly integrated into the known story without busting possibility or creating situations that 'could never be'. The fact that the game runs through events in the Fellowship too is neat and satisfying. I loved fighting the Nazgul at Weathertop.

It isn't perfect, but gripes - like the Coup d'Grace Kill button down on the R2 button is a bit of a stretch to include in a Combo - are petty compared to the satisfaction of playing the game. Running around firing off arrows like a sub-machine gun with Legolas or slicing Uruk-Hai with a sword like it was second nature... fantastic stuff that can't be recommended enough.

Thoroughly looking forward to The Two Towers and tempted to buy the Fellowship as well.

This is the best game I ever played.

I got Lord of the Rings the towers a day ago, and it rocks. I have never had so much fun in my life. You get to be Legolas, Arrogon, and Gimli. All of them are good, and you also get to be the king on the first level but the levels are kind of hard and the last three levels are very hard, but this is really the best game I have ever played. This is a great game for teen's. It is worth every penny.

I saw this game on amazon.com and new I had to have it. I even went out and bought a PS2 just so I could play this game and it was no dissapointment. I love it the first night I had it I played it for about seven hours straight. I would recomend this game to anyone especially fans of the movie. It is not a RPG like I would like it to be but it is definatly action packed enemies never seem to stop coming and once you defeat one level it is fun to go back and do it again with another character. I am a big fan of Legolas even though he is not as strong as Gimili for close battles he rocks with his bow.

This game was the coolest damn game I've played yet. Not to mention the superiority of its graphics compared to most ps2 games, which aren't so detailed. There are things I as a Tolkein fan would add, and maybe change, but I think that they've done as good a job as can be expected.

A superb Game, that expands the movie Experience

I may be byas because I've loved the books sence the first time I read them. This game fallows some aspects of Fellowship as well as Towers. I found the use of the Towers three prodominate heros to be a lot of fun because you could life out your adventure with your favorite of the three, Aragon, Legolas, or Gimli.
True it wasn't really all that hard but it was very fun. And surpassed any expectations I had because the Fellowship game was horrably messed up.
And to those of you who's 10 year old kids beat it in two days and complain. MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE COME PART OF THE VIDEO GAME ADDICTS LIFE AND GET HIM OUT SIDE! Don't use the any system as a baby sitter or substatute for parental interactions. It's worse that parental controls on the internet. Be a part of your kids life, and get involved. Establish a relationship so you can trust them.

Too Short

I liked this game alot, the interaction is fair and very well formatted. I like that the film cut scenes are very well integrated into the game and it's basically a conversation of Aragorn and Eowyn (if you play as Aragorn) and you start with some of the Fellowship stuff, and continue to the Two Towers, The game is a little bvit short but can be highly advanced.

There are good time limit quests you must defeat, and of course the characters aren't invincible so it makes for even better game play.

There are phots and interviews also on the disc. When you beat certain things you can continue playing but you have a new thing opened like a interview with Viggo or Elijah. You even get cheat codes at the very End. And you can also play as Isildur. This was very entertaining and has lots of replay value for me, being a big Tolkien fan! :)
