My son asked for this game for Christmas. Knowing the popularity of LOTR, I ordered it quickly. He rented the game and finished it in one weekend. He told me to take it off his Christmas list meanwhile the game arrived the next day.
best game ever!!!!

I got ps2 for my birthday, and I got this along with it. I think the graphics are really awesome, but I think it should be a little longer. I think the moves are really cool, and I even made up some of my own. the details in this game are cool, but sometimes confusing. like, what's so hard about putting arrows in Aragorn's quiver? all in all the best game ever. much better than the first one.
Sweetness beyond belief

very good graphics, and the characters came to life through the game, and an extra bit of info for all of u fans, the people who played gimili, aragorn(viggo mortensen) and frodo(elijah wood) all did the voices for the character which i thought was pretty damn cool
Brings "lord of the rings" to a lower dimension

EA has done an outstanding job of porting the movie over to a video game. We even get to see lots of movie scenes from the as-yet-unreleased The Two Towers! This game has killer graphics combined with voice-acting straight from the movie, as well as fun and frustrating addictive gameplay. This game is pure hack n' slash action - you can choose to be either Aragorn, Legolas, or Gimli (I like Gimli). You play thru a lot of fight scenes from The Fellowship of the Ring - the Ringwraiths on Amon Hen, the Kraken, the Mines of Moria and the Cave troll, the Uruk-Hai on the bank of the river. And then you get to fight thru all the scenes in the upcoming Two Towers.
The replay value is high, too. You can play thru all the scenes and strive to attain better ratings with all 3 characters. You earn experience points that you can use to purchase combos that deal more damage. Whenever you kill an enemy, it flashes briefly Fair, Good, Excellent, or Perfect. This score is determined by how well you avoid getting hit (or execute a well-timed parry), and pulling off brutal combos.
I cannot stress enough how impressed I am with this game. Be aware that this game is PURE BATTLE ACTION. It plays much differently than the also newly released game The Fellowship of the Ring, which has a more action/RPG feel to it (it is also a very well done game that I am adventuring thru).
Worth is just to see clips of the movie

You'll be blown away from the opening sequence to the final showdown at helm's deep. The graphic is one of the best I've ever seen on the PS2, and the control is fluid and easily controlled. The muscial score from the movie is ported brilliantly, adding much to the sense of drama, and the added voices from the Actors playing the characters on the movie gave the game an authenticity that's not just a 'gee-whiz' feature.
The transition sequence found on the cinematics has to be seen in action to be truly appreciated, although at times I was thrown off guard as the game starts seamlessly after the cinematics.
The one problem (minor) I had was the confusion of trying to find my character in midst of 20 - 30 enemies and allies. The only option is to just keep throwing off combos so you can see where you are at (there's a bright flash of light when you sucessfully finish a combo move).
Game is on the easy side (even on the hardest difficulty level), but might be just me.
whats more entertaining than shooting fish in a barrel....

destroying urk-hai as they run out at you from a million places!
this game is great, the graphics are so smooth and the game play is amazing. Mixing scenes from the movie with video game cinamatics adds a more real effect.
it has a very nice charecter system leveling up is a bit differant that other games, as well as the powerup purchasing.
there are three charecters that you can play the adventure as and compare how you did with each. Legalos, Aragon / strider, and gimli! there all three soo cool.
i dont want to go away and give anything away like how to defeat anything that up to you :P
ill end with saying THIS IS AN AMAZING GAME.
untill next time kill quickly !!

Those looking for an incredible hack and slash of epic proportions and who enjoy the J.R.R. Tolkien movie adaptations of the books will love this game.
The graphics are incredible, fantastic sound and precise, crisp control showcase this game where hacking through orcs, archers, giant sea creature bosses with your favorite characters is more fun than you can shake a stick (or sword) at!
I'm really happy Amazon placed this on the Editor's pick list for Jan 2002. The game truly grabs you and is very hard to put down. Some may say it is a little short in length, but it may just be the game leaves you wanting more after sucessfully beating all it has to offer. It offers bonuses in the form of unlocking DVD movie interviews with the cast of the movies as well as some other nice extras. Overall, if this is a look at what's to come for future EA Lord of the Ring games, you can count me in for all future installments. :)
