The Sims is an excellent game and the expansion packs just make it better. This is the game that i have played the most and i dont think that i will get bored of it. There are over eighty new objects that will keep everyone from the diehard player to the casual fan happy. Lets hope that they still keep these expansion sets coming as i dont ever want to stop playing this game

fails to disappoint

I bought the sims the week it came out, and became addicted from then on. It is a near flawless game, no doubt, a classic. Livin Large was great, but that only gave new objects. before this came out, it was hard for the sims to throw any kind of get together, because by the time you called 10 people, it was already 2 in the afternoon.

house party lets you throw parties, along with tons of new cool objects and things to do. It is awesome, a definate reccomend. The only complaint i have is that the other sim games ran really fast on my computer, and this one takes about 5 minutes for the game to load into the neighborhood section. its ridiculous, but its worth the loading time. My favorite new item has to be the dance floor (and the dancers that come out of the birthday cake too, duh?!?) definately reccomended.

I'm a genuine Sims enthusiast, but I'm kind of disappointed by this latest expansion pack. It has some neat stuff, though. About 8 new outfits for men and women, and 2 new outfits for girls and boys. There are also some new adult heads. And of course there are new floors and wallpapers. (But this isn't too thrilling because you can download just about any kind of floor or wall or outfit off the internet!) There are a few new doors (including a saloon door and restroom doors for male/females) and some windows (none too exciting), 2 new staircases and a transporter/elevator thing. Add to that, some new shrubs, fences, and a cactus, and your Sim's yard can look really neat. Indoors, there's new furniture. They've added some new bamboo stuff, so if you want to reinact "Survivor", that shouldn't be a problem. They've also added new decor and accessories in the themes of Western, Disco, Warehouse, and more. Then comes the fun stuff: a bubble blower, a buffet table, a cake for a dancer to pop out of, a light-up dance floor, a dance cage, etc. Plus a new option to hire a caterer. However, the price of this game seems a little steep for the amount of new stuff you get (which aint much). But if you love the Sims and can't get enough of them, this is bound to brighten up your little Sim houses and make things a little more fun. So... this is not a must-have but it's still pretty cool. (Note: I have a newish computer and with this latest expansion pack installed, the game runs a lot slower than it used to... that's kind of frustrating.)

Good, but nothing spectacular

The Sims' House Party Expansion Pack is a good investment if you really like The Sims for what it is and are not expecting any big expansions of game play. What you do get are some interesting party motifs (Tikki, Country-Western, Rave) a couple of new items and some more group interaction.

Pros: Parties are easier to throw with the mass invite option. It's much more time-efficient than calling up each individual person, or even using the party balloons. Several items, like the campfire and bubble machine allow for more group interaction, making maintaining social relationships easier. They also provide some interesting sound files featuring more SimSpeak (the nonsensical language your Sims speak) and SimSinging around the campfire. Some practical additions object-wise (like smaller dining room tables for instance, which can replace the behemoths the first pack provided) also are welcome additions.

Cons: as other reviewers said, the game is a little buggy. My game crashes every so often now, even though it never crashed before with the original or the Livin' Large expansion pack. It doesn't run quite as smoothly as one would like. I did take care to prepare my computer thoroughly (running scandisk and defrag) before installing, but I'm still having problems.

Sim fans will want this game for the new objects and actions, but those who are not nuts about The Sims should not expect this game to provide anything to up their enthusiasm.

Best of the best...

It's not my favorite expansion but it is very fun throwing parties. I found this expansion to be the most "social" than any other expantion, besides Sims Hot Date (Which is my favorite expansion.) Whenever your Sim is socialy deprived you can easily throw a party. There are also More than 80 new objects, including a dance cage, mechanical bull, etc. Also there is new characters, costumes, and music. This game is a must buy and will expand it a lot.

Woo! House Party! This is just another great expansion pack from Maxis for the Sims! It's not my favorite, but still well worth the cost, especially these days. You can get this in the "Sims Double Deluxe" package nowadays though - which includes the original "The Sims" and "Livin' Large" as well as "House Party."

This is the one expansion pack I haven't been able to master though. Having a great party is really hard! At least for me! This pack adds a ton of new items to the game, most of which are GREAT for parties. They add a DJ booth, dance floor and speakers so you can have a Sim Night Club at your house - great for those Sims who loves to dance! Also added are other group items, like a bubble machine which my Sims seem to love. Whenever I have a party people flock to that bubble machine!

Other fun additions include a mechanical bull (Sim Urban Cowboys.. yeeeeee haw!), a costume trunk (toga party!), a huge party cake (with dancer inside!) and a campfire (Kumbaya!). One of the coolest additions is the ability to hire a caterer! Then you don't have to worry about feeding and cleaning up after your party guests. Unfortunately the caterer is a bit annoying and gets chatty sometimes instead of doing his work!

There are some benefits to throwing a great party. If your party is lame.. you'll get a mime. For some reason.. the mime comes to all my parties :/ My Sims must not be very good party animals! The better the party, the better the "surprise" guest who will show up. I've yet to have the ultimate surprise guest show up .. but I'm still striving for it. Some day!

Anyways, this is a very fun expansion pack and well worth getting. These days it's fairly cheap, and it includes so many new items that they are alone worth the cost. I highly recommend it.

They have been living the high life, and House Party Expansion Pack makes Sims live much HIGHER! This is the second expansion pack to the hit game The Sims, and boy is it fun! The whole concept of this expansion is to have a bash ! There are many new sets to choose from. Have an country hoedown, boogie the night away, or swing beach style. New objects will make your party and just simple living greater. A new feature is something you will have fun with: a teleporter! For the party, new items include mechanical bulls, DJ booths which you can actually DJ, light-up dance floors, campfires, cake dancers, and much more! Every party needs to be fashionable, so you can dress up in disco, clubwear, formalwear, beach, costumes, and much more! The NPCs (non-playable characters) can tell you just how good your party is. The mime comes if you are having a BORING time. If your party is great, there is always somebody trying to crash it. For that, there are teenage party crashers. If you are really swinging, a special mystery celebrity will arrive! The male and female cake dancers can really put on a show for you. There is the Campfire Ghost, who will scare your Sims away if a Sim tells a really scary story! If you fancy true dining, you can hire a caterer to cater your buffet table and punch bowl. You probably have always wanted to make seperate bathrooms, so now there are male and female doors, along with stalls and urnials.

So buy this game some time right, and then you can party away the whole night! WAHOO!

THE SIMS w/ More Choices and More Fun!

THE SIMS EXPANSION: HOUSE PARTY breathes new life into the addictive phenomenon known as THE SIMS. In addition to the many new toys that are offered (such as a magic chest, mechanical bull, and bubble-blowing machine, among other goodies), there are many brand-new surprises. Unfortunately, I have not been able to throw a truly successful party yet, but I'm still trying! When you choose to "Throw Party", make sure that your Energy level is high--I mean, you don't wanna fall asleep at your own party, do ya? Also, if your party starts getting dull, a mime--yes, mime--shows up and begins to annoy your fellow party-goers. If you ask him to leave, he refuses. At this point, you had better start sending your guests home because after a while the mime starts taking and breaking stuff. It's really funny, but also kind of irritating at the same time. A really cool surprise occasionally happens, such as an unexpected visit by a celebrity. I had Drew Carey over once; that was sweet!

There is much more variety in home furnishings and decorations than ever before. In fact, it's a quantum leap from LIVIN' LARGE: Wallpaper, flooring and furniture now comes in Old-West style (for those nostalgic for 19th-Century Texas) and Tiki style (for those who like an island twist). Of course, these are in addition to the Medieval and Victorian styles which already existed. Then there are the stairs: for the very first time in THE SIMS, you can now install a pair of teleporters to go between floors. Way cool! :)

Listen, if you're a big fan of THE SIMS, you know that you need to get this if you haven't yet! Because the next expansion pack REALLY rocks...(to be continued)

This is a fantastic addition to The Sims and Livin Large! Now you can have a REAL party! The new party objects are awesome! You can have themed parties and use the costume box to dressup everyone at your party. There are just so many new neat things to do! It's amazing how far 'The Sims' have come since the original. I can't wait for the new expansion pack 'Hot Date' to come out in the fall. That should be *really* cool!

Not as Good as 'Livin Large'

This addon pack is mostly a filler-in. There is little substance to it. Offered is the option to hold a party, with caterers and dance floor. Neighbors will then come over alot easier than before. Too bad parties arent fun, and mostly a mess. There are alot of new items but nothing better than what you find on 7DS or some other fan sites. Other items like the costume trunk actually get annoying messing up body files. The DJ table doesnt let you chooose tracks or do much of anything. The Sims titles contain drinking, sexual situations, and adult overtones but its a family game, go figure.
For fans, its too bad its a full-price addon. It shouldnt be for its lack of content or originality. Its half the addon as Livin Large was, and probably 1/10th of the upcoming Hot Date. But you will break down and buy it just cause The Sims is that good of a game to warrant these cash-cow ins.
