This is the least intriguing expansion pack

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 2 / 2

Don't buy this expansion pack, it's not worth the money. As much as I love The Sims, I believe that this was a way of making us buy the leftovers from Livin' Large. If you are going to buy any expansion pack, try Livin' Large, and Hot Date. Note: I have not yet tried Vacation.

Out of all the expansion packs..

This was definitely my favorite. It adds the ability to throw a party, without compromising the integrity of the game, which the other expansion packs do, by unnescesarily cluttering up the game. House party introduced a "Funkier" look to the Sims, adding all sorts of objects that were bright vibrant colors. It also introduced body models that could have blue hair. The party option was definitely the most fun. If you don't have this pack yet, I would recommend getting it, but keep in mind, the more evolved Sims 2 is coming out this year. I wouldn't buy the other packs with that in mind.

Maxis' Best Expansion Pack

I know some people say that it's Hot Date or Vacation, and those are all great, but House Party is the pack that started it all. The new NPs(non-playing characters) and the new designs available to users is what makes this pack the best. Hot Date and Vacation may have let user's sims to travel out of their house, but that's it. I spent days making new houses and hosting parties in when I first got House Party, but I spent only a day being fascinated by Hot Date and Vacation.

When i first found the sims it was in my dad's office.
I looked at it i was amazed:it was the present i was dreaming of for years and years and now i had it in my hands it was mine, all mine!!!I did'nt ask him for it but he just bought it like that but did i tell you that it was only the sims original(because you need the sims original,Deluxe,Double Deluxe or Sims 2 to make an expansion pack work.
So i became a BIG fan of sims and my first expansion pack that i had for my Birthday was The Sims: House Party Expansion Pack
by Electronic Arts.

But i remind you to visit sims.com and Tripleeagle.net for a nice relaxed day!!!

Want some new skins, objects, walls, and floors for your Sims? Look no further than House Party! There is some great having-fun-potential here!!! Whether you want an entertainer to pop out of a cake or you want to sit around a campfire to sing songs and roast marshmallows (this is so cute... when they sing around the campfire, someone pulls out a guitar and they all sing real melodies but with Sim lyrics), House Party is for anybody!
Don't stay up too late! And go easy on the alcohol! ;)

Great Game; Terrible Requirements!

Let's cut to the chase [not Chevy]: This game rulez! However, unless you've got LL installed under it...good luck wasting 500Mb of HD-space downloading online! Because if you don't, you're only left with about 50 new items! Now, for the PROS and CONS! PROS: 1. Long Game-Life: It'll have you playing dawn till dusk, noon to night, and all those other time-related clichés! 2. Interesting New Features: Besides, of course, the themes [Cowpoke, Rave, and Luau], there are new skins, NPC's [one, at least], and some new objects! 3. Latest Version!: It helps to keep up with all the stuff [expansions] Maxis keeps putting out because, by the time they reach "Potty-Party," Maxis will most likely start eliminating compatibility with older games. What does that mean? The new code [2050] will be so distinct from its predecessor, that The Sims won't be able to recognize it as actualy game-code! The comes the whole apocalypse thing... CONS: 1. A Drag On Your PC: 32Mb RAM, pretty advanced video-card, and Direct-Sound are just some of the arcane System Requirements that you just skip through during installation. However, in today's high-demanding media apps, 32Mb is unrealistic! Now, 16, I can cope with! [BTW, I'm running a 1.2Ghz P4 with 512Mb RAM, 64Mb 3D-card, and 32Mb sound-card!] 2. Slower: With The Sims, Livin' Large, and HouseParty all caked into one, multi-layered application, the game does seem to get slower. I, mostly using the second speed-setting, seem to notice that it moves in burts of speed, rathing than a constant 2x reality. 3. Not A Worthwile Expansion: I mean, it's great for social-addicts, but, otherwise, it's just another bunch of objects and a chef! Now, if they did something like "The Sims: Work@Home," I'd pre-order right this second!! All in all, it's not a bad expansion on an already-awesome game. However, I would like to see some more features somewhere in there. And pet for The Sims is long overdue from Maxis!

What's New?

What's new? You can screw up your Sims' lives, inject some romance or have them partying like wild dogs, other than that, what's new? Sadly nothing. Nothing at all.

The Sims Expansion: House Party is basically an add-on pack that focus on the social interaction of your Sim(s). New Party items such as costumes, toys and an "improved" way to call your Sim friends are in this package.

This is what I liked about this package. The new items, such as those electrifying cages, the time-saving pre ordered meals, the groovy disco floor tiles and the mechanical rodeo that somehow really add a punch to the whole "party" package, but that is all I find interesting about the expansion pack. To tell the truth, I kind of regretted buying it .

Here is what I hate about this package. Unlike the previous expansion pack, The Sims: Livin' It Large (which I enjoyed tremendously) this expansion pack doesn't have new neighbourhoods to build new Sim homes for. Sadly, most of the "new-items" in The Sims Expansion: House Party doesn't seem to be a big help to throw parties at all! And let's not talk about the party crasher! Instead of adding fun to the game (hey, it is fun to see your Sims screw up you know), this guy adds frustration!

The gameplay is still basically the same. Click to have your Sim do this or that. Take care of their needs or forget about it to mess up their lives. Yawn. Intially, half the fun of playing The Sims comes from the humorous ways your Sims acts. Unfortunately, the game actually gets boring after playing it for a long time.

The Sims Expansion: House Party could have been a great expansion pack to buy if it ACTUALLY had some new features (hey EA! Why not make the Sims fly?). Same old boring game with same old boring concept.

Don't get this game unless you are a die-hard Sims fan. Save your money for something else.

A Total Success!

If you bought The Sims Livin' Large, and you saw the crazy objects, you would probably get bored out of the objects after a week. But, with House Party, The Sims totally changed! -- The Tragic Mime (That resembles the Tragic Clown in Livin' Large), The Cake Dancers, and more! Probably, what you can do is install The Sims, then Livin' Large, then House Party and that's it, You're partyin'!

Great game and great concept...the third Sims release that I have bought and they just keep getting better. I've got my guy living over a night club throwing parties every night. Oh, if I could only get into the game myself. Fun game to own.

Not my favorite

Out of all of the Sims games this is definitely not my favorite. I personally liked the Sims Livin' Large Expansion Pack better than this. I didn't feel that this game gave as much new stuff as the others, and throwing the parties is kind of boring. I do still recommend this game to anyone who has liked the last two Sim games.
