WIthout a doubt the best first person shooter ever made. The graphics are superb, the sound blows you away, and the level design is truly a work of art.

Quake III could be an awesome game. I bought it for multiplayer and tried to use it, everytime i get on it says "connection interrupted" and freezes up. I have contacted customer service and they weren't to helpful. I wouldn't recomend buying it for multiplayer unlessd you have a cable modem, which aren't available here. Single player doesn't cut it. If you're lucky enough to have a cable modem this is a great game
(For anybody out there who can help me with my "connection interupted" problem please e-mail me at pm5korn@yahoo.com)
Will be the next big thing if they include the grapple!

Judging from the demos and tests, Quake2 players will abandon their game for this one .... if .... idsoftware is smart enough to realize that this is an action game and not a strategy game and not try to slow the game down with slower player movements and slower weapon changing (like they tried to in quake2) and they must include the grappling hook!
SWEETNESS!

Quake 3 Arena is the most addictive game I've ever played... I've been with it since the test release v1.5, and it took me 4 hours to download. But it was worth it. The finished product, well, it kicks a$$!
A Bloody Blessing

This is a truly tremendous game. This is a game which defines all first person shooters. This is the game.
Quake 3 arena is a very good game. It is on par, or even better than UT. The main difference is that UT can work on a lower end system, unlike Q3A, which requires a serious one. If your system is a true gaming one, get Q3A. Otherwise, stick with UT> Either way, you won't regret it.
This game surely beats UT

Well, this game is a killer. I know this game has a few problems (lacks of game varieties, High system requirements and unbalanced bots, unoriginal levels and weapons design), but I still love this game. First, the graphics are astonishing. The graphics makes me feel like that this game is ahead of it's time, and this game surely uses one of the best game engine so far... Deathmatch play is AWESOME, very thrilling and exciting each and every time I step into the world of deathmatch. Even though the weapons didn't changed since doom, the weapon graphics are cool and the effects are awesome. And you can select a huge number of models. One of the best things about this game is, ID allowed people to make mods, skins and maps really easy. You can download hundreds of those kind of stuff from the internet, And enjoy a different taste of this game.
Okay, great engine...

...lousy deathmatch appeal. Uninspired, retooled, reused weapons, very un-fun level design, and a shoddy skeletal system for models. That had to beef up the speed so it would be hard to tell. Other than that, for some reason it just is not fun. I do not know what it is, just that it seems the fun had been yanked out. I played Q1 and Q2 religiously, and was chomping at the bit for Q3. It got released, I grabbed it, and was very disappointed. At least other companies put the engine to good use for entertaining games.
The most addicting online game I've ever played

First of all, if you're expecting an outstanding single player experience, skip this game. I only used single player mode to learn the basics. Now that I've told you that, I can review the game.
Quake III Arena is outstanding. The opening cinematic is great. The menu is organized. When you start playing, it may take a little bit to get used to the controls (especially if you're not that used to PC FPS's), but when you do, it's nice and slick.
Now for the meat and potatoes of the game...online play. One thing I like from the beginning is the amount of servers. There's not millions and millions like Unreal Tournament, so it's easy to look through and find a server you want to play on, but there are plenty of servers. Then you start playing. Let me emphasize this: I have never played a more smooth online game. There is absolutely no lag if you have Cable/DSL or better, where as UT has plenty of it. As for the players playing, they play much harder than the people on UT, yet they trash talk much less and are very cool people. Every game mode is fun and worth playing.
So if you want an outstanding, addicting online game, this is the next game you should get. Don't expect an amazing single-player experience though. If you want that, go elsewhere. But if you're ready to start shootin' with 20 other people, this is the game to get.
Do not waste your cash!

I was very disappointed by Quake III, compared to UT its action and graphics lack severely. Online was a joke for I couldn't get it to function, even though UT works almost perfectly. Don't waste your cash, get a real or Unreal game. Though it is kinda like Duke Nukem, only better.

This game is awesome. I never liked deathmatching on Q2 or with the Reqium mod on Q1 until I got this beloved peice of hardcore blood and gutz mayhem. Now, some people are upset that the single player game consists of deathmatching against bots instead of level by level play. Single player? Levels? BWAHAHAHAHAAA! You wussies! This is the wave of the future, and you're going to be at home playing against a bunch of "two-shots, now I'm dead" neverending levels. This is the basis of Q2, which I gave up on because it was so boring. Then, a week before Q3 was released, I reinstalled it and kicked its boring repetive bitmap. Anyway, evolve or die. I'd rather be fighting real people or extremely pumped up bots than playing single-player games again.
