WIthout a doubt the best first person shooter ever made. The graphics are superb, the sound blows you away, and the level design is truly a work of art.
SWEETNESS!

Quake 3 Arena is the most addictive game I've ever played... I've been with it since the test release v1.5, and it took me 4 hours to download. But it was worth it. The finished product, well, it kicks a$$!
Unreal Tournament is better

From playing the test of Q3 and the demo of Unreal Tournament I'd have to say Unreal Tournament is the better game. It just feels better. This is a good game but Unreal Tournament is the one to buy.
Same old, same old

Id software ought to learn how to do something different. Online deathmatching is boring. Go buy yourself something more interesting like Starsiege Tribes.
A good game, but not as worthy of Unreal Tournament

I started out in the Quake scene with the very first quake. I would have to say that after playing the test of Q3 and the UT demo that UT is a much better game. It adds more than just a change of graphics and weapons. You have more firing styles, two for each weapon. Q3 will probably be a good game, I just think if you can only buy one, buy UT!
The sequel to mega blockbuster hits, Quake and Quake II.

Quake 3 is back, better then ever. The mostly popular FPS comes back with a mulitplayer mode with improved gameplay and Computer A.I. This addictive game is going to be around for a while...

Unreal Tournament is all eye candy and stuff but the theme of the game is just "urgh".
What about Q3:A? I think it's going to be the game of the year. It has playability, graphics, excelent re-programability (Mods), etc, etc. UT is not as all-round as Q3:A.
TF2 will also be a great game, but I don't think you can compare it to Q3:A and UT as many do.
Unreal Tournament is *NOT* Better.

Quake III has multi-processor support, support for the new *superior* T&L engine offered by Nvidia's GeForce 256 3d accelerator, smoother gameplay and far superior NetPlay coding than unreal tournament. Quake III is the game to buy when you consider the facts.
Q3A Rocks! But UT Rules!

Let's be objective here...instead of all the magazine bull hype.
I've played Q2 since it first came out. The "test" Q3A versions gave a real hint at how great this game will be. But when I first started playing UT demo, Q3A started to look a little pale.
Look Q3A is a vastly improved engine from Q2. But it just doesn't compare to UT. Look at the graphics, character skins, gameplay and bots AI. Be honest. Play both demos. The answer will always be the same...UT rules!
Don't get me wrong. Q3A absolutely will be incredible to play. I can't wait to play some new maps.
Second to Unreal Tournament

Unreal Tournament is a far greater game. I found this game to be bland as it hasn't changed much from the original quake. Also Unreal Tournament has native support for Glide which allows me to run the game at a much higher resolution. Unreal Tournament also has 5 differnet game modes whereas Quake 3 only has Deathmatch and Team deathmatch (although eventually capture the flag will be added). I'm going to spend my money on the full version of Unreal Tournament and keep Quake 2.
