but still one of the best! tho i wouldnt bother buying this now, mainly bekause quake 4 is gonna kome out sooner or later (and it looks awesome). i still play this game! konsidering how old this game is, u gotta give it some kredit. the graphiks tho now beat by doom3 and halo2, etc. are really not bad. the game maintains the klassik evil statanik kastle type maps, which in my opinion, bring out the fear and the "kill or be killed" type atmosphere. and the bots! this may be bekause of the way the maps are very konfined, but i find the bots in this game much harder to beat kompared to the bots in the ut series. and wahts more u kan sometimes seem to grasp what even sounds like a konversation with some of the bots like "Crash". this is very unlike singleplayer ut, where u never touch the chat button. try it out it kan be funny, tho it usually doesnt work. The weapons are simple and easy to use, some sekondary fire would be interesting tho. a few weapons needed in my opinion are mines (maybe molotov kocktails), flamethrowers, and the ol nailgun. i kant komment on multiplayer, it doesnt seem to work on my komputer but neway i kno that ut has the best online gaming (unless kounterstrike is better, ive never tried that one). if u dont have this game now, i suggest u download the demo, its basikally all u need. it has the only map i play singleplayer "Q3DM17" i think... however. another good thing about this game is the fakt that there are so many mods! "modifikations" tho now i would suggest people to buy ut2004, (it has the best mods) quake III has kountless downloadable skins, maps, etc, etc, etc. this game is a klassik.

I reccomend that u buy this game. It has the best online multiplayer games like ctf(capture the flag) free for all, team deathmatch. I bought this game but it has a big scratch on it because of my friend. I am gonna buy it though. U also can be in a clan. If u are the president of ur clan u can enter tournaments and rise through the rankings. There are a couple of servers where u can play freeze tag or a really fast shooting game.

this is how i rate stuff:

GAMEPLAY: the gameplay is terrific it is very fast,fun,and
pleasing the story is pretty stupid (from what understanded it was)( but it deosn't really mater the story in this game anyway)
and the diffuclet settings change the game from very easy to
almost impossible. in short terms of saying the gamplay is great!

GRAPHIX:the grapix were superb when the game came out and are still great today the maps are beautifuly disigned the charcters

models look great and the graphical engine is the most popular

FUN: this is what i call fun this game is sooooooooooo fun it is
very fast and fun whats fun about this game is that your always
on the move you never just stand there doing nothing the other thing i thought was fun about this game is that you never have
to think you just need to kill wich is a great thing indeed the gore also adds some fun to the game not that im saying this game would be bad or less amusing without the gore but its good that the gores there in short terms this game is really really fun!!!

This is rapeing the Quake name now ID.......Get the Quake 1 magic and actually interesting story of Quake 1 back. Quake 3, 4, and 2 suck.

I bought this second copy of a longtime favorite to be able to network with my son... great game a few years ago, still plenty of fun today (and a better bargain!)

Quake3 lacks in the gameplay area.

If you have a fast network connection, a speedy high end system, and you like all eye candy and no game play then this is the game for you.

The single player aspect of Quake 3 involves running around a small, poorly-contructed level trying to eliminate a "bot" before it eliminates you. The bot AI is pretty bad, more skillful bots just seem to put one through you with god-like accuracy every 5 seconds. As for multiplayer, unless you have a fast internet connection, you'll be lagged to hell and back, giving a someone who does ample time to put a rail through your skull..

Mostly all of the weapons in q3 are the same from the previous quake games. The level design isn't half as good as q1 or q2. And what's with these models? Did I just see Tigger hop by? or was that pikachu? Where's C3P0? Give me a break, it's like watching a Dr. Who marathon or something.

Overall, I'm disappointed in this game, I'd recommend Soldier of fortune or Unreal tournament.

I admit that I was one of those nailbiters waiting eargerly for Q3 to be released. When I got it running, I was more than a little unhappy with the single player mode. It is completely different than what you got from Q1 and Q2. In single player mode, you fight in.. well.. simulated deathmatches with computer bots. Now, when I read this on the back I thought 'Gee.. What a great idea.' Unfortunately, most of the bots act like what they are: Computers. The scripting on these things is way too linear. Not to mention that the difficulty settings are completely out of whack. The second to hardest (hardcore) is almost impossible, even for a seasoned deathmatcher, while the nightmare setting is absolutely impossible. My final complaint is this. Why am I holding the same double barrel shotgun and rocket launcher from all the other quakes? The game offers only 2 new weapons.. which is sad.

Now, There are positive aspects of the game. The fun-factor of a 8 player human deathmatch is unbeatable. If you have the means to play in one of these with Q3 you can expect all the fun as from the previous versions.. Of course, you will need a fast internet connection or a local area network to do this.

All in all, Quake3 was.. Ok. It saddend and disappointed me that the loss of a storyline did not produce life-like and enjoyable bots in single player. However, mulitplayer is still a riot. You want a good single player first person shooter? Get Soldier of fortune.. You will not me disappointed.

At first, UT seemed a better game than this one, but as the time passed, this game surely is better. The graphics are outstanding, Deathmatch play is so fun! Well, the level designs are beautiful, but not original or unique as UT, Weapons are okay, but also not original too. Anyways, I love this game, and I enjoyed every game from Id since doom...

The technical side of quake 3, such as the graphics, sound, and overall feel of the gameplay are superior. However compared to Unreal Tournament, the game looks like it was rushed together to release before Xmas, it does have less maps than UT, but these levels are amazing in architecture and all of them are fun to play in. In UT you can easily get lost and disoriented, in its large overwhelmingly boring levels. However unreal offers more types of built in play modes, quake3arena offers a gigantic array of beautiful character models, the graphics for this game are far past anything that has come out yet for a 3D shooter. The bots feel more human and have unique styles of play than UT's. Quake3Arena is a more hardcore "competitive" 3d shooter while UT is a more just for a casual fun game. Q3A is like the mortal kombat of 3D shooters. However I rate them badly for a rushed product.
