Ownage

This game is pretty sweet, it has some serious ownage over many other games. The gameplay might be considered not as good as UT, but I think the graphics alone blows UT away.

The Ultimate Multiplater Experience So Far

Well, not much else can be said about this game that has not already been said elsewhere. The graphics are incredible, the gameplay is exquisite, and the fragging is VERY REAL. This is definitely a must have for any multiplayer enthusiast. Although a little different from it's predecessor, it was a much needed change, since multiplayer gaming in Quake II was VERY hard to accopmlish. Id Software, you guys deserve a pat on the back. Although the fifth star will go to you when you can blend in the story line in Quake I and II with the multiplayer compatability of Quake III. Only then will you guys wipe out your competition (and the hassle of the original CD being whipped out every time you want to play the game).

Multi-player Only!

Well, Quake3 is multi-player only. Don't be fooled. The single player is a joke.

However, it's still a 5 star online blood bath! The networking code is incredible, and online playing is "all that and a bag of chips"! With new mods coming out everyday, this game only gets better everyday!

If you have a good machine and Cable modem or ADSL, then get this game. The graphics will make your jaw drop, and the online play will give you nightmares!

Just remember how quickly the hunter becomes the hunted!

This game is great as far as death match play goes. It has great graphics, the game play commentaries are a nice touch but what is missing is the sense of a real challenge.

Don't get me wrong. I have been playing this game ever since it was called Wolfenstein 3D. But Id should have put some sort of mission to go along with the great gameplay and graphics. It took me only three days of regular play (about 90minutes a day) to go through the game at the "hurt me plenty" level. Versus the weeks spent on Q2 and Half-life.

Unless you have cable or DSL or planning to throw many LAN parties, you might feel you are not getting your monies worth.

I have to admit I've been a bit of an Unreal fan in the Quake/Unreal debate over the years. Sinlge player wise, mulitplayer and engine. I prefered Unreal to Quake 2 single player but liked Unreals bright graphics better. Quake II Multiplayer was the nuts!

When Quake 3 came out I found I had played the Unreal Tournement Demo more when I first got that! It doesn't detract from a great game but any game I can complete in one evening (on level 3), leaving me wondering if I can be bothered to do it all again on a higer level, doesn't warrant a classic game for me.

The engine is the best ever and the bots are gorgeous as is the level design. It just lacks the cutting edge that UT has and I'm still playing that now. I do go back to Quake 3 to make a change to UT but having completed it in one evening I really cant be asked to go all the way back and do it on a harder setting - The lastability just isn't there. Still a great game though - just not as good as Unreal tournement (demo!) HA!

Single player? NO, Multi-Player? YES

I don't really like single player, Because the monsters don't have a good AI, the only chanllenge in single-player is to avoid fire and get out of the level doing the mission. The only part that is fighting is the boss2 map that you have to fight the boss, I just rail him about 50 times in the head and he doesn't have a good aim with the railgun or the bfg10k. So QuakeIII Area has dropped the whole single player part. The single player is just like a deathmatch with bots, same as playing a deathmatch game with eraser bots in QuakeII but with better AIs. And a great new feature is that you can make new bots with their OWN AI. So if you don't like GREAT Multi-Player with killer graphics don't play QuakeIII arena. Go play with doom and UT! But If you like that kind of multi-player then i'll see you in one of the QuakeIII arena servers. Until then C ya!

UNREAL IS HISTORY! Give it up! I have a PIII 500, a TNT2 Board and an SBlive soundcard and this game ROCKS AND RULES! BUT id could have done better if they had also developed a full version as well.

No straight out of the box!
