This game is an excellent game, engaging story, nice plot twists, intense decision making and appropriate rewards for different choices made. Wonderful minigames and non standard play aspects of a firstperson shooter(the photography stuff is Fun).
The only drawback is that there is no way to enjoy the game with your friends. A balanced Multi player component to the game would have most likely earned this game more game of the year awards. Even with out it, it will be in the running and I believe it will become a classic of the industry.

By the time you read this review many of the reviews that actually matter would have been written. For what it's worth BioShock is one of the best games I have played in a VERY long time.
Never mind that it is graphically stunning, that the bad guys are well thought out, that the weapons and abilities you get in game are pretty damn fun to mess with.
It is a game with a story.
Oh sure there is mindless shooting, disfigurement and killin' to be had by all, and if that is your thing, cool. Pick up this game and you won't go far wrong. If however, if you require something more from your first person shooter this too is the game for you. The story is awesome in this game. The atmospherics only help to serve the story archs of Andrew Ryan, Atlas and of course Fontaine.
As they say the story is in the details and this hold true here. If you take a moment to look around you see clues to the enigmatic Atlas as well as the driving forces behind Ryan and Fontaine.
The creations called little sisters are eerie and somewhat disturbing. The why behind their creation is still more disturbing.... I don't want to give anything away if you haven't tried this game so I will leave further description there.
If you are a fan of Art Deco this is a game you can't miss. The environments seem to be a mix of the 30's 40's and 50's architecture. There is something to be said for being flung into the middle of a firefight, hearing the rapport of your Thomson machinegun, screams of insane bad guys, the low moaning howl of a Big Daddy the madding giggling of a little sister all the while hearing Somewhere beyond the Sea by Bobby Darrin. It tends to put one in an altered state, if you get my meaning.
End of the day, I give BioShock a 5 out of 5. It is a definite must own game for 07.
Great visual and interaction direction

The artwork in this game is amazing, and ties together very nicely with the audiotapes, and characters. Less is more, it is an adventure game in a first person perspective with some element of decision making, so one cannot expect that much more from an adventure game. This game does not have the type of replay value that multiplayer online games have, but it is good for story, interaction (control system), and visual.
Only negatives: glitches, lags, a few corrupted saves

This is a great game with fun game play and an interesting story. It's been well put together with very few if any bugs. I would consider it violent but not so as to be over the top when compared to the artistic value of the story it tells. The large enemies present a very decent challenge while as your character grows and progresses, easily dispatches the lesser characters making for an enjoyable shoot em up or hack and slash as you see fit.
Great Game!

Very well put together. HIGHLY recommended. Very Scary and morbid but worth every minute of it. Fun to play through on each difficulty (ending and "specials" change).
Perfect 10 !!!!!

Bioshock is an important game for our time. It has a great compelling story, awesome graphics ( the best I've seen on the 360 so far ), and the gameplay is fantastic ! Played through it once already and will be playing it again soon. If you are thinking about getting a FPS get this one ! Enter the world of Rapture....if you dare !!

Bioshock is what every game should be. The graphics are astounding, the soud is spactacular and the gameplay is mesmerizing. There is a reason why this game is on everyone's top 10 list. The story itself is intriguing and has a twist halfway in the game that I did not see coming and was surprised when it came.
The game has three endings but which one you get depends on how you played the game. There is an ending if you decided to rescue all the little sisters, one if you decided to harvest them for the Adam and one if you decided to mix. If your curious about all three, the game is filled with replayability.
The game can get frustrating though because of the complex puzzles especially very early in the game. Later on, however, you can hack anything if you have the auto hacking tool or the money for it. If you do, use it wisely.
Bioshock is filled with twists and turns that will scare you but every now and then, you will stop to look at the pretty scenery that's there. Thankfully, the game does give a goal arrow to help you on your quest that if it wasn't there, you would just be going around in circles.
I reccommend Bioshock if you have a 360 and while it is available on the PC as well, it does require high end graphics that might take up a lot of space on the computer and while it does take up a lot of space on the 360 as well, the 360 version plays a lot better.
So, yeah, go play Bioshock and solve the mystery of Rapture preferably with the lights close and the sound turned up.... If you dare.

I own over 200 video games for PC, XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, and the XBox. This game really topped the charts in all categories - it's fun, exciting, challenging and artistically pleasing (albeit a bit creepy in some instances). When I bought BioShock, I chose the PC version because our computers display much better graphics then any console. If you have a fast PC with a high-end graphics card (512mb or better), then get the PC version. Otherwise, the XBOX 360 version will do nicely.
Wow great shooter!

Ive been playing games for a long time specifically FPS(first person shooters) I play a lot on xbox live games like battlefield two and rainbow six, and let me say that even though this game does'nt have multiplayer I am going to take a stab and say it is better than Half life 2. Wether you know half life 2 or not, it was a game that took home all the awards and I believe that BioShock will trounce it.
To start off if you havent played the demo on xbox live, play it, and if thats not enough to convince you to go buy it right away, rent it, thats what I did, im on my second week renting it from blocbuster and im going to buy it. The games so huge and whats even cooler is you can go back at any time and take care of things you might have missed or to get things like ammo that you dodnt need then but you need now, yep it will still be there. I hate it when that perverbial door closes behind you and you cant go back to get something you were saving or maybe you just went the wrong way, but nope cant go back cause there is a door or a fence, but not in this game. It is so cool that when I went back to 2 levels ago that some machine gun rounds or a health kit was sitting right where I left it.
The graphics are the some of the best Ive seen in a shooter so far the lighting, the detail, just the whole original-ness of everthing is awesome, its not another ww2 shooter which they have really played out lately. Everything in this story, in this world is new and unexpected, the enemy is smart, you can grow your character make him stronger, you can upgrade your weapons, invent new items, you can hack security robots and make them work for you. One of the coolest things is that over time your character can evolve and gain new powers like telekenesis(moving objects by thought) which comes in very handy to like catch a grenade that an enemy is throwing at you and hurl it back at him, or grab those hard to reach powerups.
Theres lots of game for your buck like I said ive been playing for almost two weeks now and am still pretty far from beating the game, course I like to take my time, being a long time RPG(role playing game) player I like to find every little secret, and take in every little detail of the game, so that I can beat it right the first time.
Trust me ive been playing games since the atari and coleco vision era and I know games(pretty sad huh?) but if you buy it, rent it, whatever just play it; trust me you wont be dissapointed.
