so unique yet so similar (you'll understand if you play it)

this game has an unbeleiveable plot line, while at the same time it maintains the fast moving, and sometimes brutal action we all love in first peron shooters. even better yet, the different upgrades and genetic changes you pick up on the way allow you to over come you foes a number of thoughtout, or just plain old head long, ways.
great for the experienced FPS, but not really anyone els. I'v played alot of shooters, but the first time I tried this one it was way to fast (and some times just plain scary) for me. Not for the faint heared.
(Great Graphics)

This game has alot of depth, and rocks. No multiplayer, but it has such a good singleplayer that it is fun.

Definitely within the top 10 games of all time.

There are games that come around every once in a while that completely suck you in to the point where you feel like you're actually in a real location taking part in something bigger than you could ever be a part of in real life. Bioshock is one of those games.

From the very start you get sucked in with the amazing graphics and sound. I won't go too far into the details of graphics because everyone is quick to point out how great they are. The sound is incredible... from the period music, to the depressed and anxious sound of the splicers, to the announcements over the PA, to the ambient sound of a city slowly being consumed by water.. all of which sucks you in and you start to think that you're actually there!

The gameplay: Intense at first and then mostly pure fun later on. In the early levels when you don't have much in terms of weapons, you will be on the edge of your seat, especially when taking on the Big Daddy's. I had to take breaks every so often just because it's such a sensory overloading experience. Later on when you get really powerful the game turns from being survival horror to "lets see how creative i can get with killing."

The Story: great stuff. Probably one of the best FPS stories ever.. possibly one of the better stories of any game. The way it's delivered is pure genius(i know, System Shock 2 had a very similar style). You are almost never taken out of your perspective--all story elements happen in real time. Any extras in the story are found on optional tape recordings(which would be a shame to not listen to for many contain very funny or very creepy monologue/dialog.

Bioshock is one of those games that I got a feeling while playing.. a feeling you don't get too often... that feeling you get when you're completely sucked into a good movie, book, or game. It doesn't happen often, but when it does then all you think about is getting back into that world and seeing it to completion.

I tip my cap to thee Irrational 2k.

Best Game of 2007

"Bioshock", more than any other game released in 2007, took the promise of next generation gaming and ran with it. From the detailed environment to the engrossing story to the myriad different ways you can play the game, the developers at Irrational Games, now 2K Boston, have created a completely unique world. The design of Rapture is familiar to any fan of 1940's architecture, but it is also alien in all that horror that has happened there. The various characters that still survive in the sunken city are all well realized, and the dialgoue is some of the best any game had ever produced. Not only a great game to play, but one that will have you thinking about how much choice you really have in the real world as well.

lives up to the hype

A little bit more than the usual FPS, its only drawback is no multi-player. If you like shooters with a story, this title will not dissapoint. One of the top 3 for the year for the xbox 360.

I recommend this to anyone who likes a first person shooter or a good scare. I love playing this game when it is really dark and even when I know something is coming it freaks me out!

I was amazed when I played the demo of this game and even more so once I played the full version. The game rocked my world and has the creepiest surround sound I've ever heard. My cats wouldn't even enter the room while playing this game. It will certainly keep you on your toes.

Most Original title in years

A true joy to play. A completely original premise and storyline. Excellent presentation with top notch graphics, music, and customizable gameplay options. The plasmids really make this title special and distance it from other modern FPS. As long as you realize the fun and wonder only last as long as the initial play through, you'll be fine. A work of art and a game all fans of FPS should play.

A Cross-Genre Masterpiece!

Bioshock is that something special that only comes along so often. Since my first video games 25 years ago I've noticed that whenever a game maker tries to bring more than one gaming genre together in the same game it usually spells disaster. There are a few exceptions but those exceptions are so few and far between that crappy cross-genre titles are generally the rule. That makes a game like Bioshock stand out all the more. The developers of this game have blended first-person shooter, adventure, puzzle, and role-playing together in such a seemless masterstroke that this game could appeal to almost any gamer. And almost no part of any of those genres is lost in the translation. The game looks beautiful, plays well, and has an engrossing story. I would recommend Bioshock to anyone. In my opinion it is THE game of 2007.
