Wow, this game is really something. I was expecting a good game, but this surprised me a great deal and turned out better than I expected. I don't know where to begin, so I guess I'll start with the obvious, the thing that really sticks out at you. If you haven't guessed it yet I'm hinting at the graphics. Granted, graphics aren't everything, but in a game like this where atmosphere is so important, they certainly help. Everything looks beautiful and at the same time, very creepy. The thing that really stands out is the water, they did a terrific job with the water. The music in the game is set to the time period pretty well. The people are all very insane. The little girls are creepy, but rewarding if you choose to save them. There is some great AI throughout the game that reacts to your every move. So why not a 10? There's no multiplayer. Now, I understand the developer's reason for not including multiplayer, but I'm sure if they put enough thought into it they could have figured something out. Despite the lack of multiplayer however, this game is perfect in every other way.

This game was promoted as being totally wonderful and super cool...

Overall it was a bit of a letdown.

One of the main problems is that you are not able to play as the monster!

Fix that...and Bioshock will be tough to beat!

instant classic

This is labeled a shooter?? Not a chance. Like a lot of hyped games, when you finally play them sometimes you feel let down--NOT THIS TIME. Everything about this game is incredible. If you have a pc or a 360 you need this in your library....I am serious. Hey, you feel nervous? Rent it and see for yourself. Every consoles' game developer can take a lesson from this; this is what REAL gaming is all about.

Now, will you kindly play this amazing game?

I hate first person shooters; particularly the vastly overrated halo & doom games, not to forget the abysmal call of duty games. Besides BioShock the only FPS that I give the time of day to is the Metroid games, and even those are tedious after a while.

BioShock however is like some sort of eye widening revelation in terms of gaming, and particularly a genre as intensely stale as FPS. BioShock was part of a group of games I bought when I got my 360, the other two being Dead Rising (which got insanely boring quick.) and Overlord (s'alright). This one is the only game that I even play out of the three on a regular, hourly, basis.

Unlike Halo & Doom the story is actually vastly intriguing, but I am a sucker for dystopian stories; there's philosophical merit the likes of which I don't think I've ever seen in any other game.

And I really think it's the tiny things that make BioShock stand out; the upgrades to the weapons, the plasmids, the choice of harvesting or saving the Little Sisters, all these make for a fresh, invigorating gaming experience.

Definitely a Favorite

I had heard how pretty BioShock was as well as what a great game it was, so when it was given to me I was pretty happy. It has turned out to be my favorite game in years. There's not much I can say about the game that hasn't already been said in the reviews, but I'll give you the brief version.

Absolutely beautiful graphics in a very 40's/Art Deco styling which is appropo given how Rand-sian the plot is (Ideal Man, Capitalism, etc.). Speaking of which, the plot is well developed and intelligent. The controls are fairly intuitive and easy to use, though you'll be using them all at the same time frequently. My only issue with the game is that the endgame was a little too easy. But, I haven't played it on difficult yet, so I'm going to give that a try.

It's just an all around fantastic fps game.

Amazing game

I've been a playstation devotee until about a month ago and had yet to find an xbox game that I enjoyed. But, I rented bioshock last week and finished it within 3 days because I spent nearly every free moment I had playing. Even though I've already beaten it, I'm in the process of buying it right now. This game really sucks you in. And once you're in, you don't want to stop playing because the story is as entertaining as the gameplay (I usually despise all cinematics- which is why I've grown frustrated with video games- too much attention on story and not enough on actually making the games fun). But Bioshock does not disappoint on any level. It is truly a work of art.

Probably the best game Ive played on 360

You begin the game as an anonymous antihero stranded on an undersea city after a plane crashes onto your boat... or something. Eventually, you gain what are essentially a bunch of superpowers in your left hand, and a bunch of different traditional weapons in your right. The graphics are immediately, obviously incredible. Halo 3 and BioShock both have some of the best graphics around, in my opinion.

This game has something more though, a kind of weird limbo between past and future. The overall message is pretty genius, and some of the things the irrationally murderous "townspeople" say are pretty insane. This is DEFINITELY not just your average "war" shooter. It all just goes to show, "no man is an island". Nor can they successfully force themselves to be...

Incredible!

A perfect game. Perfect lighting, voice acting, graphics, sound, and music. I found some people saying this game is too difficult to beat on easy. Well I thought it was a fun and easy expierience. I think it's Too easy on easy. I beat this game twice in just a week. So if you say it's too hard, I guess you can't play video games then.
