Simply put, this game is not only an work of pure genius but an acid trip of stellar animation, good action and shoot-em up type gameplay. It utilizes technology originally made for quake III. Only this game is better than quake III. The games puzzles also make you think. It is not just a brainless action game, but a puzzle. In short, its a masterpiece.
This is a GREAT GAME!!

I have to admit this game is awesome. The graphics and the usage of charactors and so on are the best. The only problem is the fact that you can only play it on your computer. I keep waiting to see if they will make this game for say the PS2 or 3. That would be much much better in my opinion. Having to use the keyboard/mouse for things is a pain but once you get that down your good to go. = )
EA Games needs to make this game compatable for play stations tho.

I had a little trouble installing this game, but once it started working, I knew it was worth it. I get annoyed by most disney movies, but this definitely saved Alice for me and put it into a new light. The main character has attitude, but also loves her friends. She's trying to straighten things out in her head after a terrible incident, by fixing Wonderland. Many familiar Alice characters are there, and they're all much more interesting now. The combat is fairly simple, the gameplay can be challenging, the music is nice in the background, and the story is engaging. This game disturbs you at times but in a good way. Get this game if you're into darker plots.
Alice is all grown up.

There is no rest for this tormented soul. This game had a very gothic feel to it. Every character was unique. Alice was the grimmest of all characters. Some people didn't like how this game ended but I found it completed the story. I found it most humorous at the Load, Save & Delete screen. Te letters read LSD. I wonder if that was intentional.
A WONDERFUL interpretation of the dark side of Wonderland!

American McGee's Alice is an incredible depiction of Wonderland after a horrible tragedy in Alice's life. If you loved Lewis Carroll's novel (as I do) then you will have a blast roaming through this eerily familiar world. The challenges are difficult, the plot is twisted, and the characters are unforgettable. Some people argue that the game is very linear, and if they mean that you simply run around and solve puzzles, then it's about as linear as Tomb Raider. Still, having to time your jumps so you don't get crushed, solving puzzles that determine your next move (especially when on the chessboard), and battling with fantastic weapons doesn't seem so linear to me. Even when you've finished the game, you'll want to play again on a harder level, where you'll find EXTRA challenges to overcome. So sit back, have some tea, and brace yourself for a wild ride with this game.
A More Sinister Wonderland...

Being a fan of the Lewis Carroll novels Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass, I knew the movies and shows I saw as a child were sugary adaptations of the original books. The truth of the matter is, I always felt the books had a sinister, surreal feel about them, that never seemed to be carried off in film. When I heard about American McGee's Alice, I was very intrigued, because it seemed to have a creepy ambience, which I always felt Wonderland had as I read the books.
Though I think the horror in the game is a little much, I think this is one of the best tellings of the Alice stories I have ever seen (though this is actually a sequel to the two novels). In this game, you play Alice who has been in a mental institution due to her talk of Wonderland. She hears that there is trouble in Wonderland, and returns to see what it is all about. You are guided by the Cheshire Cat, who pops up to give you tips and help along the way. The popular characters are back, though looking distorted and macabre, a far cry from what you would typically picture when you think of them. The game is a real challenge, and the controls are somewhat hard to master. Luckily, there are some helpful cheats you can use, if the game becomes too frustrating.
The graphics in this game are eerily surreal, with the worlds looking rather nightmarish. Yes, something is terribly wrong in Wonderland. It's dark and sinister, and honestly one of the creepiest games I have ever played. Maybe this is because you have a certain image in your mind of what Alice, the story, is just from what you were taught as a child. After playing this game, you will never look at Alice the same way again!
This game had a real effect on me. I'm a very nostalgic person by nature, and certain parts of this game actually made me sort of teary. I have been an Alice fan since I was young, and I think this version of it is very honest and they didn't hold back. Since this game isn't intended for kids, in a way it feels almost like, as Alice, you are supposed to restore innocence to Wonderland. There is a part in the game (don't worry this won't spoil anything), where Alice is in a building and there is a picture on the wall of Lewis Carroll. I thought this was subtle symbolicism (of what, I don't know), that I thought was very intriguing. There are many subtle things like this (and some not so subtle), that made this a very fascinating gaming experience. But don't think that you need to be an Alice fan to enjoy this game. Horror and adventure fans will appreciate the gameplay, and the interractions with the characters. The bosses are rather freaky, the plot is creative and well-developed, and if you like a game with depth, this is the game for you.

There aren't a lot of bad things you could say about such a beautiful masterpiece.
This amazing work of art shows you the inverted looking glass. Alice is a homocidal, comatose gothic chickie who's out for blood against the Queen of Hearts.
In the first cut scene, you learn that Alice's parents died in a fire, leaving Alice an orphan. She was sent to an insane assylum, where she stayed comatose for many years.
Then, her rabbit is returned to her, and she is brought back to wonderland. Except, this wonderland is not all about happy fluffy bunny rabbits...this wonderland is full of enslaved gnomes, pyscho children, a chain-smoking cattipillar, and of course the supreme ... herself, the queen of hearts.
Alice must battle through the different worlds of Lewis Carroll's classic tale. Through the Wonderland Woods, the Land of Fire and Brimstone, the Fortress of Doors, Vale of Tears and many others, this game will leave you pondering the ending even when you aren't playing it...if you can stop playing that is...
The Pros:
* Awesome Graphics
* Wonderful Storyline
* Great 'Toys'
* Realistic Cut-Scenes
* Supreb Gameplay
* Too many others to list
The Cons:
* Fortress of Doors a little too long
* They kill my favorite character ((sorry, had to stick that in there))
Very interesting

While I enjoyed the plot, the graphics, as well as the music; I found that the way the camera movement was set up was very uncomfortable. It followed Alice way to quickly and caused a slight case of dizzyness. If homemade videos where the camera man is a little unstable dont bother you, go for it! I truely wish I could have finished the game if not for that fact.
Cool Concept.

There seems to be little room for innovation in games these days, they are either 1st person shoot-em-ups, or grand real time strategy games where one gathers resources and builds armies, or combinations of the two. Because of this, game designers need cool game concepts to fit into these molds. Alice is a neat concept crammed into the Quake-type 3-D first person shooter. The idea of a demented wonderland, toys as weapons, mutated storybook characters with whome we are all familiar and a spooky soundtrack make this game a lot fun. The puzzles are somewhat difficult and the game is a challenge, but just looking around and listening to the music is also fun. I am almost to the end of the game and am going to be sad, but will probably play it again just to soak up the spooky atmosphere of a very un-Disneyesque Wonderland. Just a great idea.
Great Game!

Good Points:
The graphics are astounding. The Sound is equally impressive. GamePlay is perfect. There are many individual (And very unique) characters you interact with, and each of them have a very well defined personality. The game, overall, is very well thougth out and makes too much sense.
Bad Points:
Nothing but a few trivial nuisances. When you enter into a new level and it autosaves it will pause up during some heavy disk access times. -This could just be my computer (Probably is).
