I can't get enough of this game. I'm surprised at all the different weapons alice has at her disposal. GREAT GAME.

I'm perfectly happy with the game. It plays really well, and the character design is ver interesting. The design for the settings are also pretty fascinating. It's so surreal and dark, I can't help but love it. Plus, the premise is pretty cool. I haven't finished the game yet, but it seems like it's sort of a journey to make Alice sane again through fixing her Wonderland.

This game has superb graphics. I say that, even though it's several years old and the graphics system it uses is far outdated. The levels are beautiful, if macabre and at times, darkly bitter. The sound is also a plus. It really adds to the game and completes the theme. The voice acting is good as well; unlike many games with mediocre voice acting, the Cheshire Cat has a deep, philosophical, and slightly mocking tone that suited him completely, as did Alice's pointed, shrewd, and slightly rude tone. At times some of the nonplayer characters have slightly annoying voices, but that's probably in character, as many of these characters are annoying.
Alice's controls aren't difficult to use, and even a gamer not well suited to computer gaming would probably be able to pick them up. There are many jumping puzzles, and here we come to one of the weaknesses. There's a lot of guessing involved in the jumping. There is a handy foot marker to where Alice will land, but often times it's inaccurate or simply not helpful, especially with moving objects. Alice also seems to scoot a bit past her jumping point, which is slightly frustrating. Another major weakness is how the water was done. The camera angles in the water can be very frustrating, and it's sometimes difficult to tell Alice to swim in the direction you'd like her to. She gets "stuck," if you will, and there's no real meter as to how long she can last underwater.
The action in the game is engaging. While it's a first person shooter, and at times it can seem a "kill everything on the screen" game, the action isn't the main facet of the game. There are many puzzles along the way to frustrate and engage you. Alice's "toys," or weapons, are very interesting as well, and using them in combination can lead to interesting and destructive results. Many of the bosses are interesting, at the very least, to fight.
The story is a macabre and, at times, slightly confusing, web. I would have liked a bit more attention paid to some of the reasoning; for example, why weapons lie about for no apparent reason. The story itself is highly engaging, however; without giving away too much, Alice's fight for sanity in the twisted realm of Wonderland is a tale that is very interesting.
While this treatment of a children's story is not entirely new, this game is very original, and one that you will not regret buying. It's also very cheap, as it's an old game. It's medium in length, but it doesn't feel too long or two short. There isn't a whole lot of replay value, as the only difference is the difficulty increase, though you might want to play the story through again. I highly recommend this game.

There comes a time for every gamer that when playing the same genre of games becomes boring. As we become less sensitive to more of the same FPS, RTS, RPG's, we begin to look for games that offer an utterly new and novel experience.

Alice is such a game, and it will make the most jaded gamer feeling stimulated and engaged. Its graphics are old (made in 2000), yet it is good enough that many parts of it seem to rival more recent games like Microsoft's Fable; its graphic relies more in ingenious design rather than technological breakthroughs. The story draws you in from the beginning right away, it's a highly nightmarish journey through a distorted Wonderland to the final confrontation with the Red Queen. Like other thematic games such as Half Life 2, the final boss presents itself subtly at the very beginning by having its evil web of tentacles laid throughout Wonderland (much like the cloud-penetrating Citadel in HL2). The cut-scenes, dialogs are very poetic, and reflect the tone and the theme of the story very well.

Wonderland is merely a fabrication of Alice's childhood imagination, but an familial accident left her numb and comatose that her mind is deeply disturbed. The Wonderland the gamer will play through will accentuate all of Alice's negative and disturbing feelings and emotions such as anger, guilt, and most of all fear. Such themes alone make the game worthwhile, and further emphasizes to the average Joe like me how catastrophic and crippling these negative emotions can be. But like i said, the graphic, sound, and playability are all outstanding.

I LOVE this game

I'm not that much into video/computer games because I have a hard time finding a game that sparks my interest. This game is the only game I own and I have played it over and over and over again. This is THE best game out there. They need to make more games like this.

I ordered this game because growing up it came out and i wasn't old enough. It sounded really cool and all but when I bought it and started playing I just wasn't wowed by it. Not to say it isn't a good game for the time it came out but I found the soundtrack more interesting than the graphics and what not.

The graphics are old now, but it was top of the line at it's release. Fighting is easy... main problem I had was falling off stuff. Overall: music, story, and characters are very interesting. I'm a big fan of American Mcgee, and I can't wait for Oz to come out. Alice is definitely worth buying. It's super cheap. You won't regret it. ^_~

I bought this game years ago and wore it out, then I bought it again. It's that good.
Seeing "poor Alice" in that blood stained dress and carrying that big knife is a must see.

Love this game
