Overwhelmingly disappointing

I'm not going to talk about the storyline, others on here have done that enough, but what hasn't happened is this: the rose colored glasses have not come off. If you read carefully the reviews that are posted on most websites and blogs, they will talk about how glitchy the AI is, how many problems you'll have with the controls, about lag time, and yet they will still give it a 5 out of 5 rating or a 4.5 to account for all those problems. It amazes me how people are completely blinded by how "beautiful" the game looks, and yes it is QUITE amazing to see, but once you start running into trouble with the controls or the AI, it no longer looks beautiful. It simply looks like something that wasn't finished but had to be released to save the system. I am a proud owner of the xbox, and frequent gamer of the 360, but I am overly disappointed in this game, and what it is supposed to mean for the 360. If Microsoft continues to make me feel as thought this game is the pinnacle for their console, I worry about getting bored and frustrated with the system before the summer begins.

THIS GAME I HAVE PLAYED MANY TIMES OVER AT MY BUDDIES.
HERES WHATS GOOD--> GRAPHICS
HERES WHAT SUCKS--->STORY,CONTROLS,WEAPONRY (IF YOU WANT REAL WEAPONS PLAY RESISTANCE: FALL OF MAN), ENEMIES (PRETTY MUCH ALL THE SAME), CHARACTERES ARE ANNOYING AND STIFF MOVING, SHORT CAMPAIGN, TEAM MATES ALWAYS DYING, AND ANTI-CLIMATIC ENDING.

REALLY THIS IS JUST A SYNOPSIS BUT THIS GAME IS NOT WORTH $60.

DON'T EVEN THINK THAT YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED WHEN YOU BUY THIS GAME. YOU WILL GET EVERY CENT WORTH WHEN YOU GET THIS GAME. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO STOP PLAYING THIS GAME IN MY FREE TIME FOR THE PAST 2 DAYS. LET'S SEE PS3 HAVE TWO GAMES LIKE GEARS OF WAR AND HALO 3. OH, I FORGOT YOU NEED A XBOX 360 TO PLAY THESE GAMES.

Apparently a whole lot of people seem to like this game, but I felt it was highly overrated. While it's a fun game with nice and gritty graphics, the story was very flat. I felt nothing for any of the characters, the plot wasn't very interesting, nor were there any real plot twists. Throughout the game, there's a chick talking to you over the radio, but I don't recall ever finding out who she was, despite having played through the campaign three times. There's hardly any variance in the types of enemies, there's not that many types of weapons... The game does have a lot of interesting features, like parts where you have to aim a spotlight at a friend to keep the batty creatures away, but even on the hardest setting, this game seemed too easy for me and my brother. The bosses have really bad A.I. and will be defeated quickly. Standard enemy A.I. wasn't very good, either. Often, I'd walk up to find a bad guy facing a wall doing nothing. Online play is fun, but only if you have friends with other Xboxes in other houses. You can't have more than one person per console on Xbox Live which sucks a lot.

It's a fun game for a few days, sure, but I wish I had rented it instead. Replayability's pretty limited. With Half-Life and Halo out there, there's nothing this game has to offer that would make me prefer Gears of War over them.

Soy fanatico de los "shooter", desde wolftein, pasando por Duke Nukem, Heretic, Doom, y pare usted de contar. Este juego es lo mas cercano a la realidad (en caso de que existiera esa realidad caotica) que hayan presenciado mis sentidos, este juego es lo máximo, no por nada fue el mejor juego de xbox 360 del 2006. Los gráficos son sorprendentes, la raducción al español esta finamente realizada. En fin, el que tenga un xbox 360 debe tener este juego que es un verdadero ícono entre su género.

Rather be playing Halo...

This game is OK and all... but it doesn't live up to the hype whatsoever. People make it out to be this phenomenal life changing game... When really, it's just a Halo knock-off with some new features. It seems like the creators said "Let's make a game that's alot like Halo... but just to throw off the public... let's put in a hide-behind-cover feature... and really crappy aim systems." The damn enemies even look like something from Halo. Non-compelling story at all. And let's not even start on how terrible the Online mode is. I'd prefer to play a 20 kill match, not have a match that lasts for 2 minutes or until everyone gets killed ONCE. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible Multiplayer. Not worth the $60. I'll save that money and use it to buy a good game like Rainbow Six:Vegas or ESIV:Oblivion. I'd hold off on buying this until it gets down to $25 at your local video game store.

Let me list the reasons that this game sucks:

1. No knife
2. Grenade sucks -- You know why.
3. Reload Sucks -- You know why.
4. Run Sucks -- The screen gets blurry and you can't turn worth a darn.
5. Level restart after every kill -- Split screen battles restart after every kill=dumb.
6. You can only split screen -- no quad screen.
7. Only 8 players at a time online
8. Maps too small -- See 8 player online only.
9. Guy takes up 1/2 the screen -- terrible
10. Weapon selection sucks -- The guns it has are good but there aren't enough.

I never played the campaign mode because my friend's 360 blew up before we got that far. I got a picture of it on my phone if you want to see it...Oh, you probably have on of your own, or two.

don't even rent it. Fairly cool looking, but clumsy and unreliable control issues make this game far more frustrating than fun. This game is difficult enough without fighting the controller, too.

This game to me was all about solid single player with beautiful graphics.
I like the multiplayer, but they need more maps. the campaign mode was maybe 20% too short for me, but thats ok, that's what sequals are for.

the only complaint i have about this game is that the characters really seem heavy. and what i mean by that is that they don't react to the controls or move fast enough in the game. but you do get used to it.

Good game, mulitplayer bleh.

The graphics are awesome. Game play is easy to pick up. But on line is boring as hell, playing the same Death Match over and over and over and over.
