This game is kick A$$ and i have beat it several times it never gets old.

In late 2006,Gears Of Wars is released for the XBOX 360 but actually was supposed to be released 6 months earlier then its release date of November 2006.Gears revolutionizes the FPS shooter games with its killer cover system and more but actually its the best thing that happened to the FPS games since Half-Life or Halo.Gears was Microsoft`s console seller during the holiday period of 2006,a game with such a reputation better be awesome,and that`s precisely what Gears Of Wars is.

You play as Marcus Fenix,an inmate once left to die.Now you must save the world from hordes of Locusts,monsters that attack everything in sight and kill every one of them and that is what you will do troughout the game.The Locusts need to be killed but there are much more serious ennemies such as the powerfull Beserker,and of course no great game is complete without a massive epic battle with the final boss,in this case General RAAM.

Gears introduces a new cover system that is highly effective and appreciated.That gives you the chance the shoot the ennemy from many angles and when you are covered simply press the A button to move to the other side of the doorway.The reload technique is also pretty effective,and the best of all is killing the ennemy with the chainsaw that is located under a specific gun,just great guitly pleasure.

GOW is actually worth playing all the way trought,it ain`t that long however about 8 hours to finnish,depending on how good you are.Its a great story mode and those 8 hours were some of the greatest moments of my gaming life and it was well worth,it really used your brain to figure what to do to get to the next part of the game and develop techniques against the ennemies.

Everyone I know who played Gears were blowned away by the game and all still talk about it,its a console seller game and one that will be remembered for years and consoles to come.A few games are going to be remembered from the XBOX 360,and im happy to say Gears Of War will be one them and high on the list!It is already influential,and its influence can be seen in games like "Bioshock" who is really good by the way.

Online is good and pretty fun,there a few good types of games to choose from and its entertaining.Multiplayer on the other hand is awfull.Its just a matter of who kills who first,and its in rounds so the player who has the most rounds won,wins.I skip it and go for the story mode or online,you can also do the story mode in co-op wich is really nice.Gears takes the mutiplayer experience to great highs with its online multplayer.

There is no point in hidding it,Gears was made and plays as if it was a movie,the cinematics are amazing and can compared to a movie.Even the characters could be movie characters,Marcus Fenix and the other have voices and characteristics that could fit very well into a movie.I actually like the feeling that its a movie,and there is even a possibility that GOW WILL be a movie latter on.The ending of the game leaves room for a sequel,a sequel we can only hope will as good as the first wich is not an easy task to complete.

The game`s graphics are probably the best seen on the XBOX 360 to this point,for anyone who didn`t think it didn`t the graphical edge over the other consoles,take at look at this on a HD-TV with HDMI.Anyway,that ain`t really point,its just that Gears has incredible graphics all the way and everything is extremely well detailed from monsters to rocks.I never imagined graphics being this good before GOW was released,the graphics really are that good!

Overral,Gears Of Wars is one the most satisfying and fun game I played in my life.If you are mature enough,like FPS,this game is for you!The highest rating it can get is not enough,highly recommended,5 stars.

This game is too good for a king to even come withing an inch of it!

Well, when I first saw this game, I was a little skeptical. And I wasn't the one playing it-I was watching my friend play it. So then he handed me the controller, and I started to play it. After that, the rest is history. I became obssessed. The graphics makes every other game for the 360 look like dog crap. Yes, there is a lot of cussing and a lot of blood, but it's something to get used to. The revving of the chainsaw, the sound of a headshot-this game is perfect. The story line is a little odd, but it sums it all up in Gears of War 2 (HOLY CRAP! I STILL HAVE TO WAIT OVER 2 MONTHS!) The weapons are unique, and fun to use...but nothing is as fun as using the sniper rifle. The online on this game-I played it for 26 hours! I only stopped to use the bathroom or to eat...I didn't sleep. It is awesome. The intensity of this game is simply mind blowing (and in this game, mind blowing can become a reality!) Gears of War 2- I have some high expectations. I hope it's as good as the 1st one (if not better...)...as it says in the Gears of War 2 gameinformer: "Sequels are a tricky business." How true is that? Except with Halo 2, they reached the level and went higher...then they got lower with Halo 3 (that game sucks.) Halo 2 is WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better than Halo 3'll ever be! If you own a 360 and you don't have Gears of War in your library, you are simply a sick person who doesn't have great taste in games. This game is AWESOME in graphics, gameplay, sound....everything. I never thought it was possible, but this game is actually a perfect game. MUST BUY GAMES FOR THE 360: Gears of War, (In the future) Gears of War 2, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, BioShock, RockBand, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, The Orange Box, Assassin's Creed, Halo 2, (In the future) Halo Wars, Viva Pinata (IT IS NOT A BABY GAME), Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. Games you shouldn't buy and/or shouldn't have in your library: No sports games (that includes football, baseball, basketball, hockey, racing...NOTHING) Lego Star Wars games (just rent them...because thats what they are-renters) Dark Sector (another renter...not that impressive) Viva Pinata Party Animals (boring) Dead Rising (stupid, gross...) Oh! You should also have in your library Lost Odyssey...it's really fun and has 4 discs!

Well, that concludes my review. Gears of War is a must have, must buy...it's just a big MUST!!!!! BUY IT!

This games is great in all aspects, from INCREDIBLE graphic, sound, fun, a little short but it does not matter with all the rest of the fun you can get.

This game is like a punch in the face! it is so addicting that you will dream with GOW. The insane level is so hard that it makes you wanna break your TV. but it is all worth it.
Very good game for mature gamer. I'm glad this is part I of a trilogy. Forget Halo this is REAL!!

Now first off, I bought this game on an impulse, and I'm not going to pull ou the "I wish I didn't buy this game" card, because I'm kind of glad I did, because at first I really liked this game... it was with time I realized I didn't.

Now let me get the good points out of the way first:

- Very Good Graphics, now I think that it may have to contribute to the fact that this game is in a dreary landscape the ENTIRE time, and that there is a large amount of bloom, but the graphics are still damn good.

- Pretty Good Story, while playing the single player, I actually really did like the story.

- Good Voice Acting, really good voice acting also.

- Decent Single Player, nothing to write home about, but enough to keep you busy for a while and have some fun, even though it does get repetitive after a while.

Now, if you noticed, I didn't say anything good about the multiplayer, and that is where the fatal flaw (for me) is. The multiplayer is the most UNBALANCED game I have ever played. I agree that shooting a guy in the head once with a shotgun should kill him, but shooting a guy in the back SIX times should also kill him, but not in this game. Everything about the multiplayer is unbalanced and just not well thought out. Now I can see how someone would like this game, because when BS like what I said above doesn't happen, it is some decent fun, but the fact of the matter is, the above happens WAY too much. And I know someone is going to say "Well the head is more vulnerable, you should just aim there all the time" well the problem is, I like having my reticle about mid body because it lets you have a better range of shooting, and on games with a normal grenade throwing system, it allows you aim the grenades better. I just don't understand why all the characters' bodies are invincible, but their heads pop like baloons.

Well, I'm not saying you won't like this game, I can understand a lot of the praise (most of it), but this game just didn't do it for me and it made me more frusrated than satisfied.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME!!!!!

I am NOT crazy! This game is faulty! After playing it for only TWO days, my 360 refused to read the disc. My xbox 360 had nothing to do with it, it is brand new and in perfect condition, I purchased the console three days ago.

The game disc is faulty, It had absolutely NO SCRATCHES OR MARKS! Many people have reported this problem. The gameplay is great but the disc is somehow faulty. Either rent this game or buy it from a brick and mortar store so you can return it easily should this problem happen to you.

Do Not Buy this game online, you will be very annoyed when you have to go through the hassle of returning it.

I assure you, I am not a crazy person. If you don't believe me, google the terms "Gears of war Disc read error" and you will find that many other gamers have had this happen to them.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

One of the most overhyped games of all time

I reserved my copy 5 months before the game came out. I noticed it got best at e3 so I figured this game was be better than any game Ive ever played, o how wrong I was. Sure the eye candy is great but thats the extent of it. The online multiplay is horriable because of the bullet detection almost everyone runs around with shotguns because the machine gun bullets sometimes dont get detected. The single player tries to be story driven but they dont even explain any of it at the beginning it just leaves you guessing and it has to be one of the worst stories ever put in a game it makes dynasty warriors look like a masterpiece storywise. The gameplay while fun for awhile soon gets overly repetative. If you have played killswitch it is almost exactly like that hide behind cover take a shot for the whole game only thing diffrent is that it's set in a post nuclear world with things called locusts that come out of the ground to take over.
Graphics 8/10 Some of the best on the system at the moment.
Sound- 5/10 you'll be putting your custom soundtracks on very fast and the guns sound generic
gameplay 5/10 I really wanted to love this game but the gameplay is so boring just go against cover lift up shoot thats it, that is what you'll be doing the whole game I hope you enjoy it.

If you must get this game RENT it first you can beat it in 2 sittings it just is not worth the price tag wait for it to go down. It is just a average 3rd person shooter with pretty graphics.

I enjoyed this, but couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like as a FPS. I didn't find the character movement all that fluid, and cover was def. a tricky manuever, esp. when the fighting was intense and you were moving alot. The graphics were really detailed but kind of blah in alot of places to me...There is nothing wrong with this game; I had fun, but wasn't sad when it was over. It just didn't do all that much for me. Oh wait...it made me want to play BLACK and DOOM 3 again...NOTE: This is only a single player mode review; I have yet to take it online; If my opinion changes after an online experience, it will be duely noted!That is all....

A game garnered as much hype as this game has a LOT to live up to. I feel the game has missed out some opportunities here, but can be as great as Halo. Instead of rehashing the points that everyone has already made about the positive side of this game, here are my thoughts about making this game better.

- The control A system is both a blessing and a curse. In the heat of battle, i prefer very distinct controls for me to move my character. A + pad tilt system often cause my character to do the wrong thing.
- Since this is basically a squad combat game, I really wished that I have ability to control my squad's movement in more articulated way, even if it is as simple as rainbow six's.
- WEAPONS, WEAPONS, WEAPONS!!!! I like to see more weapon varieties. Here is a good place for some creativities for any game designers, and I think Gear of WAR missed out.
- Story line variation. The story became kinda stale after a while. With every checkpoint, it became similar other than the settings---go into a space or room, wait for enemy to show up. Dock and cover, shoot, kill or be kill. It would have been better if the designer can throw in more variety.

To be fair, it is amazing the team was able to deliver this game under, I'm sure, extreme pressure. Everyone was expecting this game to be the marque game to have for 360 this year before Halo3 comes out next year.

Will I recommend this game? Does it matter? I'm sure you will get this game (if not already) regardless. So get it.
