Well i hope all you DDR Freaks are as pumped as i am for this game!! This game will be the best for many reasons. One, it has a more "Americanized" playlist which means we will actually know more than 1 or 2 songs!! Two, New modes have been added like begginer mode for all you newbies, a non-stop mode, and for all you hardcore DDR fans a Endless mode which every song in the game is played with no break. That should give DDR fans a run for their money...and calories. You can also hook up DDR 2 to past DDRs to get unlockable features. Of course all the old modes will still be available like workout and edit mode. To sum things up this looks like it will be the best DDR game yet!!

Doh!

My last review was based on info from friends. Here's the real deal, now that I own it.

MAX2 has a disappointing song list. Some songs, such as Break Down!, Tsugaru, Kakumei (the mysterious red Japanese characters above MAXX Unlimited on the arcade version), and Twilight Zone are fun, but the US club hits are way too easy, except for So Deep and In the Navy '99. Unfortunatly, Konami spent a bit too much time getting US songs to Americanize the series.

MAX2 also features the return of the dancing background characters! I don't know if all of them are here, but Baby-lon keeps me happy. Plus, they're cel-shaded. For those who don't understand that, they look cartoonish, like Sly Cooper.

Nonstop mode presets were also quite disappointing, also centered on the US songs. I had to make my own, which included half the 9 foot songs in the game. Endless is fun, too.

I have cleared all the 9 footers on MAX2. I had much more trouble with the 9's on MAX. Never you mind, though. I've gotten better since I got MAX2. WAY better.

MAXX Unlimited on Heavy (hard) is insane. Have a medical squad on the sidelines before trying to climb that mountain. It's quite the feat to pass with the controller, yet I know people who can pass it on their feet.

DDR Extreme is out in Japan. The American release, I hope, will make before Summer 2004. Preferably Spring to Early Summer, 2004.

I've been a DDR fan since the begining, and I cannot wait until September just to get Max 2! The music list includes some old favorites like B4U and Dynamite Rave as well as some new songs, making a total of over 50. Unfortunetly, the dances are graded on a point scale, so you're going to have to dance a long time to unlock most of the hidden songs, but it's definately worth the extra time!

Being a really big fan of DDR for a good 3 years now, this is one release I've been awaiting since I've gotten MAX. If you've played 7th mix in the arcade and have enjoyed it, this is the one for you! And if you've never played DDR before, the new beginner mode will get you moving like a pro in no time. A must-buy!
