The Legend of Dragoon is different from most RPGs. The story is really interesting. It starts out that you're looking for the monster that killed your parents ,but it evolves into some thing much more than that.
There is also an attacking system. For Final Fantasy VII there were Limit Breaks. For Legend of Dragoon there is additions. Additions are extra hits to your attack. You can perform additions to do more dammage.
Also There is a form you take called a dragoon. It enhances all of your skills. You can also cast magic while in dragoon form. All characters only get four magic spells. It makes sense what kind of human can do magic? There arefour discs to keep you happy.

Although its not a final fantasty rpg it is still one of the best rpg's out there. The combo way of fighting in the fighting mode makes this game an original and more fun than just choosing an attack, rather than just choosing you must master each characters attack sequence so you can do more damage. This game is great, throughout the game you get to become half dragons in fights and it is fun watchin them change althought after many hours you just want it to change faster but the minor drawback is not a problem. One thing in the game that may annoy some is when you go into an attack screen it takes a while for the screen to wear away and then it will go into the fighting screen. The story is unbelievably good and it makes you want to keep playing and playing, although it seemed to me an easy game to play, dont get me wrong it is an awesome game but it was as if the game pretty much told you everything to do so dont waste money on a strategy book there is no need. Also the cinemas are awesome, they are exciting and you want to see them again. This a game you must have and you will like it so much you will play it again..and again
Fantastic RPG

This game is so much fun I've played through it 3 times. It has good graphics, great gameplay, and an awsome storyline. It's not a Final Fantasy, but who cares, this game's got it all!

this game is among the best ive ever played, it has the best cartoony graphics ever, next to Grandia 2. well anyways on to my AHEM! proffesional review.
Graphics 10/10: oh my god, they are incredible by any standards. no blocky textures here just amazing cartoony graphics, the CG graphics are also incredible, on par with the best ive seen. if your a fool who thinks if a game doesnt have ultra flashy graphics it sucks just check this out and your world shall be aletered.
Story 8/10: its really in depth at first with many plot twists but all the same its your usual, get amazing power, save the world from big evil sorcerer while killing giant monsters and bosses.
Gameplay 10/10: the innovative combat system makes chaining attacks to inflict psychotic amounts of damage is great but some are irregulary hard to pull off. the whole game is great with extensive amounts of charcetrs control which is a good thing.
It took 75 hours to finish for me!!

While the above may or may not grab one's attention, let me say that this game s worth buying. The story line itself is, well the basic RPG 'save the world' type. However you are with these characters for so long that you can actually begin to imagine what's going on with them in their side-stories.
The battle system isn't complicated nor easy. The "additions" for your hand-to-hand attacks make it interesting... gives the player another challenge (test those hand to eye coordinations!) The magic used is colorful and inventive as far as they go, but after 75 hours they do become repetitive. LOL
Alternate your characters as much as possible to keep them kinda even. Keep the chart on elements (in the instruction booklet) handy, when using your magic you can do even more damage by choosing the opposing element! Don't rely on magic though, the only way to advance both your human and dragoon levels is by hand-to-hand combat... so keep those swords swinging and those arrows flying!
As you can see, there are both pros and cons to this exciting adventure, but I bought it with only looking at the cover art, and I loved it! 75 hours later I'm itching for a new game.
This Game Rocks!

I must admit, I'm a Final Fantasy fan, I love Squaresoft's work.
This game, should not be compared to Final Fantasy though. Final Fantasy is on a level way above Legend of Dragoon.
The first 2 and a half discs were really great! I enjoyed them alot. Until, you get to one part, and the game is just straight downhill from there.
Music is good, nothing really outstanding, but hey not that bad at all.
The graphics are really good, the FMV's are breathtaking, and though some people say that the voice acting was horrible, I liked it. In game and battle graphics are also well done.
The battle system...Well, that's another story... It's turn based, and I dislike turn based games. Turn based: think Pokemon. Whomever has more speed statistically, goes first, then the enemy goes, then your party goes, that's it. There's a decent variety of spells, and turning into Dragoons is awesome! Probably one of the best/worst features is the attacks. On the one hand, you have the ability to increase the strength and length of attacks by matching up two boxes on screen. (It's tough to explain) The down side, it involves quite a bit of hand eye coordination, and for some, that will be a severe disadvantage, since getting the timing right is everything to winning a fight.
The best part of this game is the towns. They are just amazing, and breathtaking! Furni and Donau, are the absolute coolest towns I've ever seen in a game, they are beautiful, and have great music. One is a flower town, then other a water town, and these two places alone made the game worth playing!
Cons: Choices have absolutely zero effect on the story. Random encounters get tedious and boring. The world map is like being on a track. 32 item limit. Story breaks down by the fourth disc. Turn based battle system
Pros: Graphics. Story up until disc 4. Towns. Interesting characters. Gauge that shows how much HP (life) an enemy/ally has without taking up an attack turn.
All in all, this game is not a bad choice for 30 bucks or less, but be warned that this is NO FINAL FANTASY!
Good story but with annoying elements

Legend of Dragoon was said to be one of the PSone RPG game that could be compared with the Final Fantasy series. This game does have a very good story with twist of plots. The in game movies are really good and with good sound effects and voice over. The environments in the game are also very well done and detailed made, which is a huge credit for the game. This game also adopt both types of battle encounters - random and touch base, which feels like utilising both ways to attract gamers to play it. The battle system is very Final Fantasy indeed. Turn based menu with different commands. The biggest feature is the Addition which requires skillful timing to get the biggest damage on the enemies. Nonetheless, it will be frustrating if you are in a boss fight and just missed one button that your can't finish the addition. The upside is you can purchase item (but at high cost) to ask the computer to finish the additions perfectly for you. Also the enemies will counter attack you if additions are done manually, which adds the difficult in physical attacks. Magic attacks are limited to using magical items, which lacks flexibility. At the same time, you can only hold 32 items at one time further limits your flexibility as some useful items are reuseable and must be kept to get your through the games; that leaves limited space for magical items considering you will need to use a lot of healing items if you characters levels are not high enough. The most annoying part of the game is the SNAIL PACE levelling up. Since all the experience points are shared by all members in the battle, this largely reduces the points each character can get in a single battle. Considering at a certain level, you need more than 10 thousand points to level up and every battle just earns you 200 points! This might be the reason that many people just finish the game with great effort at level 35-50 ....The highest level you can get for your characters is 60 but it will take you more than 400 hours to get most of your characters to that level. After level 60, the character will continue to receive experience points but without levelling up ...Another annoying part is sometimes the character selection screen just pop up without a reason and you will find that your original party was moved and substitute by other characters, which will then require you to choose again without a reason. Also good items are very difficult to find and some of them cost you a huge fortune to get. The development of the characters are also not as flexible as those in Final Fantasy for you can only equip them with certain stuff and some of those stuff are really useless. Anyway, the game does have a good story and some good graphics, considering it is a PSone game. Just need to bear with those pretty annoying characteristics of the game.

I think this is one of the best playstation one game console game, and maybe be the last. My favorite charater is Dart who is also the main character. The addition thing gets a very little bit annoying but it eventually becomes a second nature. I love the way the characters transfom into the Dragoons, especially Darts. I am only on the 2nd Cd and I'ma hooked. When you fighht the final boss on the cd Doel right after Kobol or whatever his name is you may have to do this as many as 5 times in a row. But it only took me 2. I beat the 1st disk in 12 hours. This is on;y because I have beaten Final Fantasy VII & VIII. I am an RPG Pro but if you are going to get this game play at least on of ff games (most likely VIII because it's short) otherwise BUY THIS GAME AT ALL COSTS!! When you get it HAVE FUN!!!
