three words "OH MY GOD" this is the coolest game, the game is the coolest rpg ive played, ive only got the demo but i ordered the game and it will get here in a few days. anyway this game has cool graphics, easy controls, and the battle system rocks, FF8 is boring you just choose an attack and press R1 sometimes to make the attack hevier. in LOD you have to press the X button to make the player do combos which is cool at first its hard to get the timming right but after a few battles its easy to get it. then you say what about the depth of the fighting well thats where the dragoons come in. when you fight if you attack a few times you can change into a dragoon and do your on attacks or cast cool magic spells on your enemy. when you attack you also have to get button combos for a even cooler attack and its even easier. i have not found on thing about this game thats bad every thing is awsome i cant wait for my copy to come if your a rpg fan you got to get this game. i only wish you could give 10 stars to the perfect game.

This game is awesome. It is exactly like Final Fantasy VII. The fighting is exactly the same, but it is better. It has much better graphics. It is as not as confusing as Final Fantasy 7. Pretty cool game in my opinion.

Okay so my first encounter with this game was at toys R us, there was a demo of it there on a small ps1 set up on the countertop. I was bored, so i was playing it and i really enjoyed it. So, one time at blockbuster, I saw it, but my mom wouldn't let me rent it. Eventually I did rent it tho, and I couldn't stop playing it. I beat the first disk in a week, and then i re-rented it just so I could keep playing it. I beat the next 2 disks in the next week, and my mom wouldn't let me rent it again. I managed to get my grandma to buy it for me, and I beat it. It was worth everything spent on it
I've beaten this game at least 4 times, and I still love playing it. The characters are all awesome, the score is simply phenomenal, although it can be cheesy at times, it fits in perfectly. This game really touched me, something that no other game has done until I picked up Shadow of the Colossus, which by the way is another fantastic game for PS2 and I highly recommend it. Anyways, I popped this game in a few days ago after beating Silent Hill 2, and everything came rushing back to me. The opening sequence, the first battle, even the title screen, it was amazing to re-experience this game. The graphics aren't very good, but the game is so great you won't even notice. Enough of me rambling on. Let's list pros and cons.
Pros:
Great characters. I cared about each and every one of them.Meru was my favorite.
Excellent storyline. I couldn't stop playing
Awesome battle system. I find the battle system of games such as Final Fantasy to be annoying. This one is perfect, to me.
fantastic music. The music is incredible. Even though it is sometimes cheesy, it still fits in to give the game a more friendly atmosphere. Playing something like Silent Hill that has no friendliness sometimes gets tiring.
amazing cutscene graphics
Cons:
many frustrating parts, such as disk 2.
it's rather long
graphics aren't too good. Cut scenes are great, though. the cutscene graphics are comparable to PS3 graphics. Although, the gameplay helps you forget about the bad graphics
All in all, buy this game. You won't be disappointed, especially for the low prices it goes for on this site.

ok people, we all know that this game is the very best. it does have its down sides, i'm not going to lie, but the game is very exciting and has a little bit of everything for everybody. i read that ff is the best and it is the worst but we all know that in judgement test will show 7 out of 10 are gong to like lod mor than ff.
graphics look like they could have done a little more work down but it makes for it during the brief video clips that you during game play. a lot of battles always seem to never end but at the end of the game is WORTH IT!
for beginner players it great to play very simple controles and easy to understand after an hour on the first disc.
this is a long one but once you played once you'll always want to play it again and again, look at me i played 4 times and i never get tired of.
for a recomedation definatly and it works on PS2, so no worries their, and one more thing after your first time you might want to get a guide for it, finding the stardust is fustrating and the guide tells you where they all are
enjoy this great game and take of it it will be classic for ever
(It will always be better than ff-all them combind)
I liked it...couldn't play it!

The thing I hated most about this game was that you could only carry so many items (don't know the exact amount) and each potion counted as its own item. I was always in serious trouble and always running low on healing. The battle system was cool. That was the only thing this game had going for it though. This was the last game I owned for my PSX and it may have been the final straw before i traded this thing in for an N64. I'm not saying YOU should, it's just that I felt like I had played all there was to play after giving up on this game. If you want a VERY good RPG see Chrono Cross or any of the Final Fantasy games. They blew my socks off.
It doesn't deserve any stars, but I'll be nice

Basically, this game...it's awful, I have never played such a horrible RPG game, actually, I've never played such a sorry game in my life. Yes, Dragoon does have it's cool points, the plot is pretty cool, the music is much better than the traditional music in most RPGs, and I have to admit that I do LOVE the fact that the characters talk (Though the voice overs in the battles really sucked, they could have gotten better actors for those voices...) . I give them credit for that, but this is where it stops.
The graphics: For such a recently released game they're horrible. All squares and no curves. my big problem with that stems from the fact that I played FF9 at the same time I was playing Dragoon, and...LOD's graphics never stood a chance against FF9, though from my understanding, they were released at about the same time. I'm a graphic's person, I expected outstanding graphics from the game considering it was in 2000. What I got were graphics worse than the ones from FF7, which was released like...what? 5 years ago?
Battle scenes: two words: TO LONG. . .I mean, come on people, you don't have to spend 5 minutes to head to battle. It takes approximately 7 seconds for the little screen to fade out (I time w/ stopwatch) which is entirely to long for an RPG, the average time for all the others is between 2 and 3 seconds. And the battle music, that's horrible, I love most of the Dragoon music, but the battle music was awful. Additions where all right, but pointless because it's just additional hits with a sword, nothing special.....
FMV's: There weren't enough. There were at least 5 scenes I saw that should have been done as an FMV, all pretty and round and smooth and good looking, but no. Those five scenes are square people running around looking stupid like square people do.
My overall opinion of the game is that it shouldn't have ANY stars, but...because there were a couple of thigns that kept me pleased through out the game (Music, talking characters, a great plot, and wonderful FMV's when they actually got around to actual FMV's and not squares...) I'll give it a 2.
I found myself bored out of my mind playign this game but since I payed the 40 bucks for it, I decided I wasn't going to let it go to waste...either way, playing it or no, the 40 dollars was a waste in my opinion. The game is DEFINITELY not my kind of RPG.
