I was impressed by what I had heard of this game and I had to play it, I've been RPGing since I was five years old. (I'm twenty now). This game had a refreshing combat system with the boxes and timing and all. But the story line .... I kept watching it just repeat itself over and over. One thing would happen to one person and it would follow suit. The gaining of the gems, the losing of the gems and so on. Gah. That and I've never actually had a game which offended me as much as this one did. The whole thing where every girl in it is helpless and clingy to the 'big strong males' really urked me. Except for Rose, who later obtains the spell 'Death Gate' Which sounded cool as all heck, but it made me actually put the game down for quite a while. This makes you curious if Rose is even really a human female.
Blah, I would not suggest this game to anyone. Its an embarrasment.
BORING!

My God that game [was no good]!Idon't know what my friend was thinking when he said it was freaking great. He said it was better than a Final Fantasy game.
There's not nearly enough spells, the characters speach makes no sense, and it ripped off every freaking RPG I played. An example is the Winglie tribe. They age slowly, just like Nanaki's tribe in FF7.
They should pay you to buy this game!Just from the start, when I read the box,I knew it was a dud.
The box should come with a warning label stating:"WARNING THIS GAME HAS NO ORIGINAL CONTENT"
I don't know how it got a 4.5 average,but I guess some people must've liked it...
In fact I'm writing a game with better content than LOD.I call it Cat Up Program(C-U-P).Here the story:Cat crosses a road with no apparent danger.Guide Cat across a road of truth, lies, and magical combat. That in itself has already bested LOD.
Good Day

I'll admit that this game doesn't have perfect graphics, an astounding soundtrack, or even the best script (what kind of bad guy says that you're silly, anyway?)
However, the STORYLINE ITSELF- the very IDEA of it- is enough to blow me away.
I actually LIKED the lines that lead you from one place to another- for a beginner, it definitely helps, though it does cut down on your wanderings until much later in the game. I also LOVED some of the places you go through- for example, the place where you meet Shirley for the first time. Those ruins are gorgeous.
While the graphics of the general game aren't perfect, they are good. They're better than FF7, and the movies are almost as good as that of FF10. I'm only comparing it to FF games simply because I love RPGs and those are the main types that I play. But let me say that LOD was a great change for me.
The additions are a bit tough, but not that tough. If you have trouble, stay with the simpler ones- sometimes, they give you more power, anyway. You can worry about Dragoon stuff later on.
...Give this game a shot- the storyline is amazing, the movies are great, and sometimes oldies ARE goodies, you know?...

As a veteran of RPG's since the hey-day of Final Fantasy 1, I must say that Sony truly out-did themselves with Dragoon. Of 1st notice is the music. I had never before enjoyed a soundtrack as much as this one. (I ordered it 3 days into gameplay) Each track posses it's own magic. My favorite being "Forest". Which is the track in "The Praire" The music had me gripped from start to finish. The graphics of the rendered backgrounds were astonishing. Every single shot, had an amazing amount of detail. I will go on the record to say that this title, surpasses Square's Final. Any of them. Don't beleive me? Go to such places as "Shirley's Shrine" and see. Within the kingdom of King Albert, there is a shot, from a left top view, where you see the water flowing and the other half of the tower---breath-taking. The battle system keeps you glued to every fight. No more bashing your enemies with just simply hitting the "X" button. The additions need to be mastered. It adds a new level in mastering your foes. The story has a lot of info. You must keep track of all the events, past and present. It truly fills a huge gap away from the traditional foward going stories. When all you know is what's gonna happen next. This story goes way back to how it all came to be. Again, I must reemphisize the music and graphics. They truly gave Square the competition. Kudos to all that worked on this massive game. The graphics, the utter beauty of every shot will leave you in total awe.
