They say that attention to detail makes the game. Well, this game is chock full of detail. Nukes leave radiation, ect. An awesome game, nice graphics, great multiplayer mode, and an engaging game overall. This is like a slightly better version of Age of Empires. More detail, upgrades aren't necessarily universal (each unit can be specialized to perform a specific task), units gain experience (something that AOE doesn't do, which is really annoying), and three very different "civilizations" each with it's own unique technologies and totally different focuses. I would highly recommend this game to any fan of RTS games.
Extremely Disappointing/Barely Playable

EA Games has taken just about everything that made the previous C&C strategy games so appealing and completely destroyed it. Westwood never took the game so seriously, as EA has done, apparently trying to cash in on gamer's patriotism post 9-11 and recent goings-on in the Middle East. I found the final terrorist single player mission offensive as the objective being to destroy New York City. Yes, it's just a game, but where is the humor? Red Alert 2 featured "B" Grade acting in high quality video cut-scenes and the completely over-the-top plotline throughout was fantastic and a very enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, EA decided to go the ultra-realistic route, creating a very "graphically intensive" title (mind you, the only reason this game requires such a heavy graphics card is for the rediculous idea of rendering the entire game in 3D). This game is monotonous, tedious, and un-fun to the extreme. I'm going back to Yuri's Revenge.

My friend loaned me this game a week ago and, hey, it is really quite good. The theme of this strategy game is, in some ways amazingly modern. There are three groups that you can be, the Chinese, the US, or a mid-eastern terrorist group known as the GLA. It is quite simple really, both in difficulty and understanding, if you are the terrorist then you get to use weapons from suicide bombers to scud launchers to fight the Chinese and/or the US. If you are the Chinese or the US then you fight the terrorist with the latest in weaponry from stealth bombers, to tactical nukes, to Overlords, the mother of all tanks.
You also get promotion bonus points, which lets you choose to use artillery barrages, carpet bombs, or EMPs. You can also get tactical upgrades with the promotions. So whether you are destroying the terrorists and their bases or launching scud missiles at the Chinese/American allies, you are sure to enjoy this simple, but good modern war game.
Best Command and Conquer Yet!

Generals is the best Command and Conquer yet. It has three unique and equal armies to choose from. When I play online, China seems to be the most popular. The graphics have improved from Red Alert 2 and you cant say anything about this game until you have seen a nuke go off in an enemies base. Dont waste your money on this game if you dont have a newer computer. It has HIGH system requirements. Save your money and upgrade your computer or buy a new one. This is a great game and playing online is lots of fun. 5 Stars!

Ever wonder about nuclear war? Ever curious about what terrorists COULD do? You like realistic startegy gamess on PC? Yes? The, without a doubt, this is most certainly, DEFINETELY the game almost tailor made for you.
Okay, enough with the introduction. Command and Conquer Generals is a very polished RTS. It combines reality with the very near future, and it still manages to be realistic and fun at the same time. There are a diverse arsenal of unit types, three factions, and good single player campaigns. (I haven't played the online multiplayer, yet.)
Command and Conquer: Generals puts you in command of three distinct factions of your choice, each with it's own advantages. The USA have staggering power with steel and led. The Chinese have and endless number of troops and vehicles. The Global Liberation Army (GLA) are a terrorist organization that uses surprise and secrecy to win battles. Personally, my favorite faction is the GLA, but that's for each player to decide for themsleves.
Besides the good gameplay, Generals manages to look pretty good looking game. Everything looks smooth and colorful, but just being short of truly remarkable.
Sound hasn't been a big concern for me in a strategy game, and Generals is is pretty much average with this factor. The music is excellent, but the sound effects and voice acting don't really get you hooked.
Overall, Command and Conquer: Generals is and outstanding RTS. The three factions are different from one another, the gameplay is simply, well, FUN. Anyone with even the slightest dash of interest in the strategy genre needs to hurry to their local electronics store and buy this game the very minute they finish reading this review. Got it, soldier?

First I bought the game (it's command and conquer generals!).The only thing that it has is the build boxes and maps the same. My 100$ video card could not handle it so I went out and spent 400$ on the top of the line video card. I started playing it and there are no movie scenes with actors that people know and like. So I have to sit through a senerio boot up for 3-5min staring at my computer screen. Next time I'll wait until it's under priced and see it on my friends computer.
I'm going back to RA2

I was waiting a while for this game's price to go down, playing Red Alert 2 in order to get pumped for Generals. I thoroughly enjoyed RA2 and Yuri's Revenge, because the story was excellent and the graphics made it possible to at least tell what unit you were looking at without clicking on it. Maybe I was just expecting too much when I put Generals in my CD tray. Now I don't have a high-end PC by any means, but Generals should have run fine on my PC, and it did. The reason this game is so slow is not because I don't meet the requirements, it is because the units were programmed by the developers to move slowly in order to create that "realistic" effect. Anyone who has played RA2 will know what I'm talking about. Remember how you could go into the options menu to change the game speed (slow, fast, faster, fastest)? Well, with Generals, its is like the game is stuck on slow all the time, and it's not because you don't meet the requirements. If you can get past the slow pacing of the game, wait until it is in the bargain bin to buy it, because it will set you back a pretty penny with not much reward if you don't.
Awsome game, totally what i expected.
