Awsome!!

This game rocks!! I love Red Alert and Red Alert II, but this game is 20 times better! It's real time strategy about wars that are similar to the wars we are facing across seas. I highly recomend this game, and if u have spare money, get the expansion pack zero:hour, which expands your battle options. But overall, this game is the best game C&C has come up with!!

Bad coding, bad Idea

I saw this game at my friend's, the first thing that offended me was the war against Islam and being so racist calling people defending their country terrorists (but that's up to what Westwood think right?).

My friend has a very high end machine (P4 2.4, 512DDR Ram, 64Mb ATI VGA, etc.) and it could play the most demanding games like WCIII or the poorly coded GTA3 and the awesome Vice City.

This game totally sucked at his machine, GTA3 was way better (I think GTA3 didn't work fine on low end machines cause it was originally coded for PSX, but Rockstar games did an awesome job on Vice City).

Well, if you own a super computer with a high end (128+) VGA card, and you're not offended by the racism and wrong political views of the game then buy it.
Otherwise, I recommend that you find another RTS game..

I'm sure not waiting for any other RTS games from WestWood studios, I guess RA2 will be the last game I got from them.

Ok, to start this review I just wish to say one thing, the graphics in this game are amazing. I have seen several reviews saying the game is a serious resource hog on some very high end machines, however I am running an AMD Athlon 900Mhz machine with an ATI Radeon 9600 pro 256 MB graphics card. Not to mention the fact that I only have 256 MB of Ram. I'm experiencing no slow downs at all. I thnk the game might have a bit of a problem with the GeForce chipset but I haven't checked in to that yet.

Next, they did a very good job on the gameplay end, aside from a few pathfinding errors, but that's why developed the waypoint system. They did a good job of balancing the U.S. and China, but the GLA does not live up to the standards i would have expected, the units are weaker in offense and defence. I would imagine that's do to my lack of experience.

great game

Great game that will give you days and nights of fun just make sure your PC can handel it before you buy it. Seems the GeForce2 and above work best. my friend had a newer PC,but had a different name brand (started with an R)video card and had to change it out to a GeForce2. Well if you like this type of game and want to fight useing realistic gear pick this up.

wish i could play it

when i firts started the game i was really impressed. every thing looked really great. getting away from this stuff, some of the stuff dissapointed me. like not haveing a Ships and stuff like that. i think that the gfx could be toond though. like on the little fans on top of the command center. Yeah they spin, but there not cicular. just strate lines to form an cicle.
i think the AI has improved but i cant say much sice i suck so bad at these games. any way, the online play is really good. there is a probelem with connecting games, but it really dosent matter. if you have a Geeforce 3 32mb or more and 256 of RAM or higher, you should be fine. the game is plane out fun. even though it is a little pricey, dont bother reading the bad reavewes their just people who had some really bad probelems with their game. Oh yeah they are right it dose take a long time to install.

P.S. just imagin all the little GLA people as Ossama Binladen or Saddam "insane"

GREAT game, lousy network support

If you're a fan of any of the Command and Conquer games, this one is a no-brainer. It's both an evolutionary and revolutionary upgrade of this popular series, so any fan of Command and Conquer will be a fan here. The game offers some limited single player missions, but the real emphasis is on the online play.

I remember back in the days of DOS how getting the game to play was half the challenge. The tradition continues with this the multiplayer side of this game. Sadly, the network play on Generals is crippled by a poorly conceived network engine. Even if you're able to get your router and connection properly configured, chances are other players haven't. The result? You'll be met with frequent frustration in actually getting into a multiplayer game. Given the massive proliferation in home routers, it's disapointing EA would overlook supporting them without having to do some tweaking. Thankfully the Generals messageboards have an extensive guide to setting up the game and your router.

Once in, you'll have a blast. This is clearly one of the best games of the year, and the graphics are simply incredible provided your hardware is up to spec.
