This game is awesome

I bought it based on reputation and price. Man, am I glad that I did. I have never gotten in to first person shooters, I don't even know if this is considered a first person shooter. I saw the discussion about the classic controller, but I advice that you give the wii controls a shot. It adds so much to the game to actually be able to aim and shoot my gun with my wii-mote. The controls are awesome. The story is good enough. I love the fact that you have a limited amount of ammo. It adds to the tension of the situation. You really can't waste ammo and sometimes have to find alternate ways of fighting. My favorite thing to do is shoot a guy in the knee and then run up and suplex him. It is a great feeling. My favorite thing about this game is the environment. The settings are dark and dingy, the music is creepy, and enemies yell and chant in a creepy language. I turn off the lights and throw on some headphones for a great playing experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and hope a port of Res Evil 5 will also show up on the wii.

Best game in a long time

I own a lot of games. I have games for the Xbox 360, Xbox and the Wii. I've played GTA: San Andreas, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Super Paper Mario... basically, I've played all of the "best games" out there according to reviews and my own personal prefrences. They were all awesome I might add. But I must say, Resident Evil 4 is the best game I have played since the The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (widly regarded as the best game of all time mind you)quite a while ago. I love the controls the most of any game I think I've ever played.

The story, while not the most original (kidnapping the presidents daughter) is made acceptable by genuinly creepy villans, and scary settings. The enemies are smart enough to gang up on you and the replay value is high. You can go on multiple playthroughs on two difficulty levels unlocking various weapons and costumes.

There are three extra play modes which include Seperate Ways (Playing as Ada Wong through 5 missions that coincide with the regular campaign), Assignment Ada (playing as Ada through a mission to collect various parasite samples) and Mercenary Mode (you get to play as five unlockable characters to kill as many enemies as you can within the time limit).

Seeing as I play a lot of games, it surprises me that it would be a two year old port that would turn into my favorite game of all time (for the time being). I only rented it, but I plan on buying it, this is one of the few games that is fairly linear (in terms of what you must do) on each play through that I believe I could play over and over and over again without getting bored.

And at 30 dollars, I would consider it a steal. Possibly the greatest steal of all time.

okay, i want to get it right out. i normally do NOT play these types of games, i mean i don't mind the gore or swearing and all, i just don't like games that scare you. to much for me.
so why do you ask did i play RE4? well, lets just say curiosity finally got to me, so i said what the hell and i got the game for the Wii. and let me say, it was one of the most fun i have ever had playing a video game! i never thought blowing the heads of crazed villagers would be this much fun! i don't think i've had this much fun with a Wii game since Twilight Princess.
the plot is simple enought, Agent Leon Kennedy is assigned to locate and rescue the president's daughter, who has been kidnapped by a group of mysterious creatures. and once Leon enters a nearby house, lets just say he is in for more then he bargained for. all the villagers seem to be...possessed or something and are intent on ripping your head off the first chance they get. now Leon must fight his way through these enemies and rescue the presidents daughter before he is done in.
let me say, the graphics are amazing and the control scheme is great! at first, i had a bit of difficulty getting the hang of it but after a few trial and error runs, i was soon blasting heads with ease. the enemies are numerous, the bosses challenging, and the enviorments are just the right amount of creepy. the plot is also good and voice acting is right on par. all these elements combined make RE4 a helluvah game.
now that i've finished the game, i think i'll look in on a lot more survival horror games and will glady put my money down for RE5. so a great game and a must have for people who have yet to experience RE4.

Absolutely THE Best Wii Game Thus Far!!

The gameplay is simply spectacular with precision controls, ample weaponry, awesome upgrade system, and plenty of collectibles. Level design is unique and intriquing. The difficulty level is just right, with plenty of health to help you out if you are less-than-perfect. Save-points are placed extremely effectively. If you have not played this game in any other platforms, this is a MUST-BUY! Even if you have, I highly recommend at least a rental. You will be thoroughly entertained!!!

This was my first Resident Evil game, and I purchased it for the Wii because of its high reviews. When I first picked it up, I played it for about an hour and I wasnt happy with it. But I gave it a second chance, and the game totally blew me away. Its a game that you will have to decompress after you play it for a few hours, because it has such a high intensity. Throughout the majority of the game I felt like i was going to run out of ammo and have to go back to a prior save. But the reality was that I never had too. This is an absolutely amazing feat on the part of the game designers, because it puts you continuously on edge. There really isnt much more to say beyond, play this game, and make sure to give it the chance it deserves - you wont be disappointed.

I bought this game for the PS2 a while ago and I threw the game away after trying to master the controls for 1 hour. It was frustrating, I just could not aim an shoot and it sucked.

I bought the game for the Wii hoping the control scheme would make a difference and it did. The wiimote and the nunchuck are so intuitive and make the game play a whole lot of fun than with the traditional game controller. The game is amazing. The cutscenes are brilliant. The graphics are beautiful, story is super cool and it has lots of extras. I never got stuck in any of the levels and this is the best game I've played. It took me about 24 hours to finish the game and about 6 hours to finish the mini game (which is unlocked after you finish the main game)

So if you have a Wii, buy this game *now*. There is no reason to wait.

Let me first state that RE4: Wii Edition is my first introduction to the RE video game series.

I have had a blast playing this game. The action is intense, the controls are precise, and it's simply addictive. The $30 price is a bargain, considering the amount of gameplay this game offers (Separate Ways, Assignment Ada, Mercenaries, in addition to replaying normal and pro mode).

Just get it already, you won't be disappointed.

Warning to Wii players with gun accessory

Resident Evil 4 is one of the most engrossing games since Half Life 2. I enjoyed playing this game so much on my Game Cube, I bought it again to play on my Wii. The idea of pointing a gun at the screen and firing away at the vampire zombies (or whatever the heck those things are) would've kept me happy and unproductive for the rest of my life. Problem was, the game developers forgot to add the option to switch button controls. In other words, this game is useless with any of the Wii gun accessories, thanks to the "A" or Fire button being situated on the top of the wiimote. Meaning if you want to actually shoot at the zombie/vampire thingies, you don't pull the trigger... you click the button along the top of the barrel. ???? A serious bummer and a waste of a great opportunity to have one of the best games ever enhanced even more by the Wii.

One of the Great Games of All Time

The Resident Evil series is among my top favorite video game series ever and when I first got my Wii and noticed this game, I couldn't resist. The game is just that good and for only thirty dollars it's a bargain. While Resident Evil 4 was released almost three years ago, the graphics are better than a lot of current Wii titles. The Wii remote a nunchuck fit in perfectly to the style of the game and it's hard to go back to playing it on Gamecube after playing this gem on the Wii. Resident Evil games have always been difficult so if you're not a fan of single player survival games, this one will not please you at all. If you're looking for some great single player horror and the Wii, and there's not a lot of that on the Wii right now, look no further. Resident Evil 4 is the game for you.

Resident Evil 4 brings back Leon S. Kennedy back into the fold after his adventures in Resident Evil 2. Also back is Ada Wong though only in a few select parts. Leon is recruited by the Secret Service to rescue the president's daughter Ashley Graham. Her kidnap was in Europe and the whole thing is made even weirder by the fact that our favorite zombie friends are back for more. Actually they're not quite zombies but a new type of zombie called Los Ganados. The Los Ganados are faster and smarter than ever before and can be a big problem if you run out of bullets. Remember this is Resident Evil, every shot counts.

The game play of Resident Evil 4 is obviously changed by the fact that it's on the Wii, thought that ends up working to your advantage. The most obvious change is that you use the Wii remote to point and shoot at your enemies. You use the nunchuck to walk around and if you're out of bullets or don't want to waste them you can pull out your knife and knife the zombies. This aspect of the game turns out to be one of the best parts and I hate a lot of fun gunning down the zombies and knifing them at point blank range. This really is a new experience for Resident Evil.

Wii takes one of the best games ever made and adds its own personal touch to it, giving us a refreshing new look at an already great game. The controls are really fun to use and can you really beat the price. For what was labeled as a port to the Wii, the graphics are really improved for the Playstation 2 and Gamecube versions. For Wii owners looking for new games Resident Evil 4 along with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles are must haves for any mature Wii owner. Seriously for thirty bucks it's hard to pass up on this unbelievable game.

Best game for the wii

This is the best game I've played on the wii. Despite the fact that it was a port, the wii remote control and numchuck were nicely integrated into the game play (in contrast to Naruto, where waving the wii remote is basically like pushing a button on the classic controller). When you complete the game for the first time, you unlock the mercenaries game. I love this mini-game. You get to play as Leon, Ada, Wesker, Krauser and the Hunk (my favorite). Since it records your high score, you can always play it again to see if you can better your score.

I've played it through several times in normal mode, and even more times in pro mode. I've played it with wimpy weapons and with awesome weapons. Although it is very satisfying to do the complete overkill with the awesome weapons after barely surviving the first play through, over the long run I've found the less powerful weapons to be more fun.

This a horror-game, but I thought they did a nice job of mixing in humorous elements as well. For instance, check out what happens if you stand on the dock and shoot fish prior to doing battle with the whale-like monster. Or repeatedly re-load your infinite ammo tommy gun while dressed in your gangster outfit and see what happens. I've also really enjoyed playing through the game with Ashley dressed in full-plate armor (an unlockable costume). After repeatedly trying to stop monsters from killing her or carrying her away, it is a relief not to have to worry about her. In fact, I started positioning her between myself and an anticipated swarm to slow them down. I also enjoyed "saving" her from swarms of monsters by launching mines or rockets at her. These weapons may knock her down, but she never takes any damage.

The Ada Wong mini-games were also fun. She moves amazingly fast, but doesn't have a whole lot of health. She also seems to be the smartest person in the game.

I'm the only one in the household to play this videogame, but my family has actually enjoyed watching me play parts of it. The cut scenese were fun, and everyone enjoyed seeing Krauser taunt Leon during their final battle.

I wish every video game were this fun.
