Awesome, Fun, Can't Stop Playing

I don't know about you, but I've always wanted to see Mario and Luigi go at it. Donkey Kong vs Yoshi? Pikachu vs Jigglypuff? Link vs Metroid? This game has it all. INCREDIBLY fun and addictive. Me and my friends rented it every week over the summer and never got tired of it. It's a must buy for any N64 owner. It's right up there with Golden Eye, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and Legend of Zelda as the classic games for n64 that everyone owns.

This is more than a game

How I love this game. You start with 8 characters to play with on the easiest level, Hyrule castle roof (from Zelda 64). There you battle Link with your own special attacks. You then move on to all the other levels with their corresponding characters ie you battle starfox on the great fox, or mario in Super Mario 64. Then you battle the final master hand, the boss of the game. There are cheat characters which include all of the pokemon that you see in the pokeballs you throw in the game, including Mew! This is a fabulous game. Also with multiplayer, which plays excelently! And varying difficulty levels make the game last 4 times as long. This is such a great game. If you have a Nintendo 64 get this game. If you haven't, get an N64 and then get this game. It's worth it, with all the other great games on this fabulous console.

Very Good!

From Kirby's brick attack, to Pikachu's thunder bolt Super Smash brothers rules! The only downside is the main game, kinda boring, and the bonus stages are really bogus stages. But despite one negative, this is a great game! The nice thing is that you don't have to have two people play in order to play multi-player, because of the automatic CPU player. The characters have a wide variety of attacks, ariel attacks, smashes, etc. The arenas are superb, each one with their own unique dangers or safeties, each one fun in their own way, adding to the lasting fun in the long run. Which segues me to the gameplay, it doesn't get boring after a long time, I've had it for several months and it's still one of my favorite games. Overall, this is a great game, worth the money!

This game is okay. It isn't all that in the way of fighting, but it's still a good attempt by Nintendo. However, the secretcharacter Captian Falcon ROCKS BIG TIME and Kirby Puckett is the best regular player.

Good game for all

This game is excellent. You can fight all of your favorite Nintendo characters together and have a good time. There is no blood, gore or cursing in the game, and that is what separates this game for all other fighting games. (One reason I don't buy a lot of fighting games is the blood and gore.) I think everyone will have a good time except those people that think games are only good when there is blood and gore. (Read some of the other reviews and you'll see what I mean.) There are so many good things about this game that 1000 words isn't enough. I will tell you the cons instead of wasting time and words. CONS: Hard to get secret characters, Not enough Pokemon Characters, More Characters Should Be In It such as: Turok, Princess Peach, Zelda, Wario, Bowser, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Charmander, Mewtwo, Bomberman, Goemon, Yae, Ebisumaru, Sasuke, Impact, James Bond, and others. Better weapons are needed because some of them are lame (The fan and Shells for example)

Other than that, the game is great, and you definitely should buy it!

Good for multiplay, bad for singleplay.

This is an extremely unique fighting game. I tried listing out why it is so unique, but my list was getting very long, so long it seemed that it would be a short novel when I eventually finished, and I was BARELY half-way through it, if even that. So I decided just to skip it. You'll have to read about its gameplay and features elsewhere and see for yourself. But I'll tell you about its quality as a game. So this is the edited version.

As I mentioned before, this game is an extremely unique fighting game. It involves a lot more strategy than other fighting games, and you can change the settings of it, such as turning on/off Pokeballs. It isn't just a beat-him/her-up-till/he/she's-dead game. Read about this stuff elsewhere, before I start rambling. They could have added a few more special moves to the characters, but with just what they have, you have quite a bit of strategy and fun, and that's JUST with the characters, nevermind the stage you're fighting in.

However, the game on singleplay gets old VERY quick. You may be able to do different things on the opponents you fight to get a certain number of points, but it still gets boring in a very short time. The only worthwhile to do on singleplay after it loses its fun is to unlock the secret characters and the one secret fighting stage (for multiplay and practice or training or whatever they call it only). However, for multiplay its fun almost never runs out, unless you play it ALL the time, but that's the same for any game. The long and short of it is, if you plan on playing it alone most of the time, then this is not a worthwhile buy. Rent it, squeeze the fun out of it, and be done with it. However, if you plan on playing it with other people such as siblings, friends, family members, etc., and they enjoy playing it then this is a worthwhile buy. I must say though, it is much, much, much better if you play it with 2 or 3 people most of the time. If you're only gonna play it with 1 other person the majority of the time, then it's hard to say whether you and your playing partner are gonna get tired of it quickly. It depends on your and your partner's personal preferece and prior experience with other games. So think about it and read about the game if that's the case. You can also try renting it just to be safe. Multiplayer, buy. Singleplayer, rent.

Lets smash something! Then be really bored!

First, get this straight. If you're one of those Nintendo owners who invites all their buddies over to have a go at Goldeneye, Mario Party, Beetle Adventure Racing and all those other multiplayer classics, Super Smash is the game for you. Unless one of your friends has it. You see, Super Smash doesn't really achieve much in the single player adventure. This is due to the fact that it simply isn't fun to beat up people by yourself. Who are you going to taunt and yell at? The television screen? I'll give you some inside information: it won't yell back. The levels and characters get tedious and boring really really fast. But as a multiplayer romp, Super Smash achieves all that a fighting game can. It is fun, but only in groups.

The best multiplayer game for the n64

Super smash bros. is a very good game in it's multiplayer mode, but the single player mode could use some work. The single player mode is very repetitive and you have to play it over and over to get the hidden characters unless you're already really good at the game. but the multiplayer is nifty. you can customize almost everything in it from Weapon selection(what items come and the rate they come),you can give handicaps,Adjust damage(making you fly farther or shorter with every hit),make teams,Set computer players level, and choose if you want to choose the stage you play on or have it choosen for you. Before you get this game I reccomend you get four controllers and A bunch of friends because you'll be playing a lot of the multiplayer mode.

Your favorite nintendo chatacters put in 1 awesome game!

All of your favorite classic nintendo characters have joined forces to decide who rules the Nintendo World? This awesome fighting game is like Mario and Mortal Kombat together. The great thing is that theres no real violence at all! Mario can perfect his fireball move, Fox McCloud can shoot his laser, Link can throw boomerangs and bombs, while little kirby can suck up players and steal there secret powers. All characters have different special attacks. They can all punch and kick, but they all throw, smash, pound, pummle, blast and burn diffrently. Also, items fall down from the sky that you can use againts your opponents. Pokeballs, (which actually contain several random pokemon that each do different things) swords, hammers, Maximum Tomatoes and fire-flowers all rain down so you can reign over everyone on the field. With an awesome multiplayer option, this is a sure Nintendo Classic. Try this game, you'll fall in love with it fast.
