When I first saw this, it looked dumb to me, me being 17. But when I played it, it was a different story.
If you are looking for a nonviolent game that still has plenty of action, this is it. There's no blood, injury or death. And the losers are good sports, you see them clap for the winner at the end of a match.
This is also the funniest game you'll ever see. It looks like a kids' game, but older people will get many laughs from it. Two of the fighters are puff balls with high pitched voices.
The gameplay is a step above fighting games like Mortal Kombat, which require you to memorizes how to do different characters' moves. All the moves are easy to do, and are executed in the same way for all the characters, so you don't have to meomorize anything. However, each character does completely different moves, so you win by strategy, quick thinking, and cunning, rather than rapid button-smashing, or experience.
You can pick this up and play it right away.

I got this game a long time ago.I got it at a mall when
I traded in my Banjo-Kazooie game for it.I started pla-
ying it and realized"Wow!What a fun game".Thanks to this
game I now play the Starfox and F-Zero series(Before I g-
ot this game,I knew nothing about them). This is a great g-
ame.Whenever I play it,I remember playing this game with
my old neighbors(Also huge SSB fans).
The game itself is a very fun game.In all it has 12 charac-
ters,4 of which need to be unlocked. Some are Mario,Donkey K-
ong,Link, and Pikachu. The stages are all taken from
various Nintendo games,some are:
Sector Z-Star Fox
This stage is based on the level in Star Fox 64 called Sector
Z.You fight on the Great Fox while dodging Arwing lasers.
Saffron City-Pokemon
This stage is based on the city in Pokemon R/B/Y called Saffr-
on City. You fight on three buildings(Regular Building,Silph Co.
,and a Helicopter landing pad)while dodging attacks from the P-
okemon in the Silph Co. Building.
Peach's Castle-Super Mario
This stage is a floating platform on top of Peach's Castle from
Super Mario 64.You fight on a platform with a moving black block
on the bottom. If you get lucky, your opponents might not be able
to knock you out thanks to the bumpers on both sides of the platform.
This is a great game worth buying. If you don't have an N64,buy
one on Ebay and get this game.Playing this game on multiplayer
will have you playing for hours!Get this game!
Something for all gamers

Mario, Donkey Kong, Star fox, Yoshi, Pikachu, Link, Samus, and Kirby make us your basic team with another four to be added as you beat the 1 player game in different modes. There is also a bonus stage, sound test, and item selection menu that become unlocked later on.
I was looking at some of the reviews for this game and saw that many are from young gamers. I got the game for Christmas and through the course of the day a 7 year old, 16, 19, 20, 35 and a 41 year old played the game. I have NEVER seen my mother play a game like this. Yet she sat down with the rest of us and battled it out. Everyone had a good time. Name-calling was on going and the action centered around the TV.
The graphics are great. The game play is awe-inspiring. It was enough at times to sit back and watch others play the game and just laugh at the antics of the characters. Most everyone gets annoyed at Pikachu's battle cry of "PIKA!" and it's fun to watch the characters dance around the screen. The way that the game follows the play is nice and when it does pan out too far or a character is too far off screen there is a little circle and an arrow letting you know where you went. Thankfully. After you get up to about 150%-200% of damage the next time you get hit you go flying off the screen.
As a fighting game this one shines due to the differences in all the characters. How often will you see Pikachu and Mario in the same game? The characters are very well rounded and each base character has a level dedicated to them. Items rain down from the sky to help and hinder characters. Exploding barrels, health hearts, bombs, and baseball bats drop down to name only a few of the items.
Pick up this game and be assured of having a good time no matter the age or preferences of the crowd.
If Nintendo set out to market a game, I doubt they could have made a better choice than all of the characters they packed into this game. Mario and Luigi. They've been around as long as Nintendo has and the game builds from there. Add Star Fox and you bring in the SNES. Bring in the new Pokemon characters and there is the attraction for the younger, newer gamers.
One of the N64ýs great entertainments!

When a list of the best games ever made for Nintendo 64 is drawn up, Super Smash Bros. is bound to rank high. With enormous replay value, this is also one of the most entertaining video games ever made.
SSB allows you to select eight different Nintendo characters (Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Fox, Kirby and Pikachu) on eight different battle arenas. You can turn on or off weapons and select time limits or the number of lives each person has. This results in an infinite amount of combat scenarios. In addition, there are four hidden characters and one hidden arena, all of which can be earned on the one-player mode, which sadly lacks the replay value and excitement of multi-player. But what if you don't have friends to beat up? Play against computer controlled characters. You can select the different CPU opponents and the experience level of each, from 1 to 9.
This game is different from a lot of more serious fighting games, in that it goes less for a realistic, bloody type of fighting than it does for fantasy. The weapons do hurt your opponents, but the result isn't violent. Rather, it is often funny. The levels also come with happy sort of music. It is truly a good, clean (almost) fight.
With the exception of the rather simple one player mode, the fact that you need friends to enjoy this game the most and that the CPU is way too easy, Super Smash Bros. is simply perfect and fun to play. If you have played it, you will agree. If you haven't, what is wrong with you?

The best being Street Fighter II: Turbo (since you can be Vega and Bison in that one!), and 3rd best being the original Super Mario Bros. (it may be old, but it's fun!), this is the 2nd best game ever. Many people like boring games like Mortal Kombat (the movie was good, but the game was terrable) because of the blood, but I think the blood just made it more boring than it already was. But this game is so goofy that it's funny, and funny games mean fun games! I love using the Pokeball, because most of the Pokemon are so helpful! I've allready got Jigglypuff out, but I'm still trying to get Luigi and the other two characters out! If your wondering which characters are the best, this is my top list of characters:
1. Kirby. He can steal powers.
2. Samus. She has a powerful cannon.
3. Pikachu. He can shock every one.
4. Yoshi. He can turn every one into eggs.
5. Mario. He can throw fire balls.
6. Link. He has a sword.
7. Fox. He's fast.
8. Jigglypuff. He/she (I don't know!) can put people to sleep.
9. Donkey Kong. He may be strong, but he's slow!
This is a fun game for all ages!

I have played this game countless hours. This game has many of the great players of classic Nintendo history. It has a compelling twist to the average fighting game. It shows no blood, which saves the "E" rating. I am often exhausted, but playing this game relieves me. Now that Nintendo has made it a "Player's Choice Best Seller" Video Game fighting will never be as easy to execute (on the N64 or anywhere for that matter, unless they make a !Sequel!). The moves are fast, the gameplay rocks, andthe fun just started! Oh YEAH, almost forgot, MULTIPLAYER action! 4 controllers, 4 friends, makes an explosive blast of air2air combat at any party! (Plus+ Secret Characters!) Remember Ness, Samus, Captain Falcon, Mario, Lui....

Ready to stray away from the classic arcade-style fighting games? GET-READY-TO...RUMBLE! You can bash it out with your fave Nintendo characters; including Yoshi, Fox, Mario and Luigi, Samus, and Pokemon! This games has five great modes to play in: Really Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Really Hard. By beating the game in different ways, you'll get a new character! As an added bonus, you even get a secret fighting arena! Now that's game for you're money.
Graphic-wise, this game is nothing to marvel at. Characters often appear boxy and backgrounds are virtually 2-D. Everything is very clear, and size isn't usually a problem - except when you've got one too many characters on the screen.
As a one player game, I say clearly that it sucks. No offense to lovers of this great N64 fighting game. One player mode travels by very quickly, and gets repetative. But heck, just like any good fighting game one player's not the meat of the game. THIS GAME WAS MEANT TO BE MULTI-PLAYER. As a multi-player game, despite the size, its solid and great fun.
On to the *drumroll please* music. Music fits very well for each level, but does tend to get annoying. That's the flat-out answer...
So, you ask me, should I buy it? Sure. If you like arcade-style fighting games, wanna twist on the classics, and are ready for some humor and fun with friends, go for it! Game's not expensive, and doesn't require an expansion pack. It's defiantly a game worth you're money!
Great Multi-player game!

One word for this game: multi-player! This is the best muti-player game on any system. 12 characters (4 hidden), so many items, and several arenas make this game a challenge no matter who you're playing. The moves are easy to learn and not complicated, which I like. Some may complain that there are no combos, but combos are cheap. Without combos you must rely on pure skill. The reason I gave this game 4 stars and not 5 is the one player mode. It is sooooo trashy and unbelivably easy to beat (not to mention boring). If you have no one to play against or only plan on owning one controller, think again before buying this game. In short, this is the best multi-player game out there but a poor one-player game.
For those of you who buy this game (and I hope you do) here are some hints:
Earn Jiggly Puff - beat the game once
Earn Capt. Falcon - beat the game in under 20 min.
Earn Luigi - beat the "Bonus 1" with all origanal characters and one secret character
Earn Ness - beat the game on these settings: ~normal difficulty ~3 lives ~use no continues
Alternate costumes - press one of the "C" buttons while highlighting a character
The award for greatest N64 game goes to....SMASH BROTHERS!

One of the best games around for N64. In this game, you get the usual line up of Mario, DK and others but now we get Ness (Earthbound), Caption Falcon (F-Zero), Samus (Metroid) and there 1st apperence on the N64. Along with that, there are also Bonus characters, such as Luigi, Ness, Falcon, and Jigglypuff! All of which you need to preform special tasks to unlock. My fav character to use is Luigi and Link, and sometimes I'll use Jigglypuff to get a good laugh! Kirby is also good to use, if you want to get a cheap win. hehe. Just Kidding. There is also a Hidden stage, and a great Mult player mode! Another cool touch is the fact that you can change your players colors, depending on wich C-Button you hit! You can play as the classic Luigi, wearing whate overalls and hat and a green shirt, to a blue Kirby. The graphis are WAY to nice for the N64. They dont really look all that Polygonal. And it plays so smooth. There are other secrets to this game as well that I wont say.
Overall, one of the greatest games Nintendo has realesed scence Mario Kart 64 and Mario Tennis 64 (Soon to come!) A must buy, and if you dont, you laying to yourself! hehe

Super Smash Bros. is #1 for parties, sleep overs, and for friends. I was so impressed by the graphics, especially with a maximum of four players. The 3D graphics kick butt, there so realistic, it can almost compare to the new game cube that is coming out. The one player is fun when you first play it, but then again when you play it over and over again you just want to throw it away. The only lifesaver for this game is the Multiplayer mode. I have mastered the game and people keep asking me, "how do you get this player?" or "How do you get this stage" So I'll just tell you all the codes and this game will have more to choose from.
Jigglypuff: beat the game, doesn't matter if you die
Luigi: Beat the bonus one stage with all the characters
Capt. Falcon: beat the game within 20 min. (use pikachu,or fox)
Ness: Beat game in normal mode without dying
Mario Land World: Beat game in normal mode with all characters(including hidden), doesn't matter if you die.
That shall do it!
