The best N64 fight game, ever.

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 5

Super Smash Brothers was one of the last installments to the now dead N64 gaming line. A perfect ending, if you ask me. This is't your average Mortal Kombat or Tekken game. You don't have limited health, you aren't crammed up in a tiny little space, and the computer player dosen't always win. You can run around on vast terrains, where items such as light sabers (Samus Aron or Star Fox, I don't know), pokeballs (Pokemon), hammers(The original Donkey Kong arcade), and lasers (Star Fox) fall from the sky, and are at whoever grabs them first's disposal. The levels are:Mario Brother's flying island thingie, Zelda's castle, Saffaron City, Star Fox's ship, Samus Aaron's near-destructed planet, Donkey Kong's jungle, Yosie's island, and Kirby's planet. There's also a hidden level, The Mario Brother's classic arcade world. And, now, the players:Mario, Yoshi, Kirby, Star Fox, Samus Aron, Donkey Kong, Link, and...Pikachu. And, there a 4 bonus characters, and I'll tell ya how to get them:

Jigglypuff-All you have to do is beat the game, on any mode, no matter how many lives you lose.
Captain Falcon-Beat the whole game on any challenge level in under 20 minutes.
Ness-Beat the game on normal with only 3 lives, without getting any game overs.
Luigi-Go to pratice and beat everyone's (except the bonus character's) bonus game 1. Luigi is faster and stronger than Mario.
HAVE FUN!!

The most entertaining game I have ever played

Speaking from the perspective of an 18 year old male (one certainly cherished in the entertainment industry), I can claim without reservation that this game has provided more hours of fun than any other I have played. Cetainly there are more absorbing (I'm a RPG fan at heart), more visually stunning, more elegant, and more elaborate games, but none can compare with this frankly hilarious and addictive item. There was a six month stretch where I played SSB 15+ hours a week with my siblings and friends--a fact all the more striking when you consider this was entirely in multi-player mode, and involved no storyline or objective. It's even better in college, I assure you. It's also gore-free, which allows a much wider age bracket than most high quality multiplayer games. Definitely worth a look.

This game is awesome!

This game is absolutely fun. People think it's boring with one player, but do you not know you can your own matches against the computer in the versus round. A great way to test your skill. This is a must-have for a Nintendo fan and I can't wait for Super Smash Brothers 2!

Very Cool Game

This is very cool. With an array of characters suited to your liking, over 30 items, and some very nice levels, you can customise the battle however you like. It gets really suspenseful is you turn off everything but the Hammers (kill you in 3 hits). I have played with my friend on the Donkey Kong level with nothing but Hammers, and you can hear the screaming from downstairs. But thats not all. Each character has its own level, and in the single player version, you must battle that character on its own homeground. There are also some near-impossible bonus levels, and a VERY HARD TO BEAT boss at the end, which i personally think you can only beat with Link. With customizeable features, great characters and levels, music accompyaning the battles, items adding to the suspense, and a tough, creative boss, this is a must-buy.

Many well known (and some not so well known)classic Nintendo characters fight it out here.Imagine Mario against Link?IS that possible? Here it is, you can even throw in a Pikachu!.The combat system is easy enough and each character has a blend of moves and taunts. Some characters are good for close rang while others are good at middle ground. The levels branch off from the characters own worlds.Like Link would have a castle roof top to fight on.Yoshi would have a little story book zone and so on.Colors can be changed for the outfits so you can tell who's who if you play as the same character as oneanother. The weapons span out from each of the characters franchises with a Mario fire flower and so on.I can't believe how exspensive this is this is truly a must have.

The Nintendo 64 reveloution

Super Smash Bros is one of the greatest games of all time. The graphics are somewhat dated and the arena selection is limited, but neither of these keep it from being a blast. Basicly, SSB is a fighting game in which all the characters (12 in all) are favorites from Nintendo, such as Starfox, Donkey Kong, Mario, Link and even a couple of Pokemon. The things that make this so unique compared to other fighting games are...

-Not just a one-on-one slugfest; you can get up to four players in one fight, be they human or computer controlled.

-Items! Throughout the battle, items and containers with items inside fall from the sky for players to use. Such items are weapons like laser guns, beam swords and baseball bats, misc. items like motion detection bombs, bob-ombs, ect and my personal favorite... Pokeballs! Pokeballs are devestating (usually). When thrown, a randomly selected Pokemon will emerge and unleash whatever destruction it is capible of.

-Platforming. While fighting, you must also try to keep from falling off the edges of the arena and often find yourself jumping over bottomless pits. This adds a whole new level of challange.

-The object is to knock your opponents out of the arena rather than deplete their health. Whenever you take damage, the amount of damage is added onto a meter. The higher the percent, the farther you'll fly when something hits you.

The controls are also very easy to learn while at the same time offering a fair amount of interesting moves. On another note, this is essentially a party game (a game leaning twards multiplayer). There isn't much to go on in singleplayer, so it's best if you have someone to play it with. If you do, you can't go wrong with Super Smash Bros.

One of the greatest games.

This rates among my favorite games of all time to play in a group, even considering its younger sibling, Melee. I played this basically all through college, and it's as fun now as it was then. My husband even enjoys playing it by himself against the computer, but that's a little sad. Anyway, it's a great game, and over five years after I started playing it, it's still just as fun.

"Free For All!"

Super Smash Bros. has single-handedly THE best premise in history of gaming. I would have loved to have been in the conference room meeting when someone suggested this game. "Let's take all of our most famous Nintendo characters, and have them beat the CRAP out of each other!"

I just recently purchased a used Nintendo 64, having found great deal at my local game store. And this game was at the top of my list of ones to buy. I remember playing this game at my friend's house many years ago. We would spend hours just smashing each other with mallets, lightsabers, combos, energy beams, baseball bats, etc. It's almost disturbingly addictive.

I had never played the 1-player on Super Smash Bros. before, but having just recently tried it out, it's really not that bad. And my friend informed that it's the only way to unlock certain characters such as Captain Falcon, Luigi, Jiggly Puff, and NES.

Still, nothing is better than the multiplayer with a group of guys over after having just whipped out the Super Smash Bros., and hearing that announcer's voice yell "Free for All!" Everyone has their favorite charcters. I'm personally best with Mario and Samus, whereas my friend rocks the house with Link. I have yet another friend who claims that Kirby is the best of the nest.

All in all- I would truly recommend this game to anyone who's looking to have a good time, and who usually plays their N64 with several people.
